Guys, fijne feestdagen, I'll be back after the weekend! Hieronder nog even de laatste updates, inclusief een aantal mooie trailers:

Scorsese talks The Departed:
Martin Scorsese (The Aviator) sprak over zijn Infernal Affairs remake, The Departed:
"It's a tough, tight, smaller thriller, in a way, about the underworld in Boston. Irish gangsters and the police. Based on a Chinese film, apparently, but very unique in and of itself.
I must say I wasn't interested in doing any more films dealing with the underworld. but the nature of the game that's played between the characters, whether they're police or gangsters, and the following through of each character to their ultimate fate is fascinating to me."
"As of yet I'm going undercover to be with the gangster," vertelde Leonardo DiCaprio die de rol van good cop speelt, "It's certainly a great chess game - one crooked cop, one semi-good cop who infiltrates the Mob underworld. I'm looking very much forward to it."

U.S. Box Office Dec 17-19:
Jim Carrey's Lemony Snicket is met 30 miljoen dollars de nummer 1 film van de Amerikaanse Box office. Ocean's 12 moest het
hierdoor met een tweede plaats doen maar wist toch nog $18 miljoen te verdienen. Adam Sandler's nieuwe komedie Spanglish levert een teleurstellende
prestatie met een derde positie. Here's the rest of the Top Ten:

James Cameron's 3-D vision:
James Cameron gaat eindelijk beginnen aan een nieuwe bioscoopfilm met de titel; Battle Angel. De film wordt in 3-D geschoten of zoals Cameron het liever noemt,
"Stereo filmen"! Hij vertelde het volgende over het ontwikkelen van nieuwe 3-D camera's:
"We've upgraded the technology, but we didn't use it on those expeditions (for the Ghosts of the Abyss and Aliens of the Deep documentaries). We didn't have the new camera system at that time. We'll use it on the feature, which we're in pre-production for right now. It's called Battle Angel and it's a big science fiction film. The differences are very minor, mostly in terms of usability. The viewer won't see any difference, though.
My primary motivation is that I just love the way it looks. I enjoy the technical challenges of working in Stereo. I think about the films that I've made, like Titanic, for example. If I could do it using the cameras that I have now, I know it would be a much richer visual experience. But I'm not prepared to go back to the type of shooting I was doing before. In the feature format we'll be able to really control the Stereo and make it very easy on the eyes.
You choose your aesthetic when you work in 3-D just like you choose and make all your various aesthetic decisions as a filmmaker, whether it be color, filtrations, defusion, desaturation, black & white versus color, all of these types of choices. 3-D has its own choices that you make. You can constantly be jamming stuff out there and poking the audience in the eye or you can use it to create a sense of a window into a reality that they get to share. That's what cinema does in a general sense, but I think with the 3-D there's a heightened sense of a physical presence for the audience."
