Frank Darabont talks The Mist:
Director Frank Darabont (The Green Mile) talked to Fangoria about his
latest project The Mist, which is based on Stephen King's novella. The story revolves around
a group of stranger trapped inside a supermarket by giant monsters that arrive in an unworldly fog. Here's what
Darabont had to say:
"Finally, my low-budget monster flick! And no, it will not be for television. There's been some confusion out there in geek land about that.
THE MIST is a very scary and memorable story. one of Steve's best 'muscular' short pieces, with characters in the kind of pressure-cooker environment that nobody writes as well as King. I intend to be faithful to the material, so I think the movie will be good. Whether it's a studio picture or not, I want to go with a very gritty, low-budget indie approach. Big-budget gloss would work against the material, plus I'm excited about trying my hand at a more seat-of-the-pants filmmaking approach on this one than I've used in the past."
Sounds great, very curious how Frank will approach King's material. Well, that's it for this week, need to do some stuff cuz it's my birthday but will be back with a new update this weekend.

Van Damme back in the ring?:
Okay, it's no movie news but just wanted to share this with the readers, especially the K-1 fans. Jean-Claude Van Damme plans
to make a return to fight competitions and wants to win the K-1 World Title. "I am planning to go back to fighting next year when I am 45," Van Damme explains, "I gave up fighting a long time ago because it offers no perspectives and there are people who do not respect their art.
But now I want to fight again to prove something to myself. I'd be the first actor to fight in K-1 and also the oldest competitor."
To be honest, I'd love to see JC kick as in a "real" fight, but he's underestimating the power of my fellow Dutchmen and champions of the K-1; Ernesto Hoost, Remi Bonjasky and Peter Aerts.
Good luck, JC.

Magneto movie?:
This is interesting, coming soon X-men 3, a Wolverine stand-alone film and according to Variety, we will
also get to see a Magneto movie! Sheldon Turner (The Longest Yard) has been hired to write the script; "I pitched a film that is almost 'The Pianist' meets 'X-Men,' about a guy who, after watching his family slaughtered, has an awakening of his powers and seeks revenge."
The character will be seen in his formative years and also will involve Professor X. That character was a soldier in the allied force that liberated the concentration camps. The original X-Men film began with a prologue that showed Magneto as a child being led to a concentration camp by Nazis.

Triple H the new Conan?:
Triple H, pro-wrestler and star of Blade Trinity, could replace Schwarzenegger in the new Conan film. Here's what he had to say:
"There's been talking about it. John Milius, who is writing the next Conan, has spoken to me already, I met with him a few times, he's a friend of mine over the years, He actually wrote another project specifically for me, but he's talked to me about doing Conan down the line so we'll see what happens. That's an awesome franchise if they want me to get involved in it, I will, it'd be a thrill".
