Newsflash:
Hi guys, here's the last update of the week, but I'll be back this weekend with the next!;
Spike Lee will revisit the 1992 L.A. Riots. Here's what the director had to say about the drama film; "This isn't about some cavalcade of stars, but rather a truthful and realistic examination of what happened, what the ramifications were and where we are now, in hopes that something like this doesn't happen again."
It's now official, Mission: Impossible III director J.J. Abrams is set to helm Star Trek XI.
Dennis Quaid will star in the football flick The Express. The film centers on Ernie Davis, the first black player who won the Heisman Trophy. Quaid will play football coach Ben Schwartzwalder, Gary Fleder (Runaway Jury) will direct.
Gerard Depardieu joins Malcolm McDowell, Jacqueline Bisset and Joseph Fiennes in the biopic Vivaldi.
Other biopic news, Don Cheadle will not only star but also direct the film of jazz trumpet legend Miles Davis. The film, entitled Miles Davis, centers on his life, music, short-temper and drug use.

Clooney buys Grisham's latest!:
Warner Independent Pictures and producing partners George Clooney and Grant Heslov are buying screen rights to John Grisham's new nonfiction novel The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town.
The book tells the true story of a gross miscarriage of justice that sent Ron Williamson to Oklahoma's death row for 11 years for a murder he did not commit. Previous Grisham adaptations include The Firm, The Rainmaker and The Pelican Brief.
Looking forward to see the novel on the big screen.

Terry Rossio talks Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End:
Terry Rossio, co-writer of the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, told Sci Fi Wire that the third chapter, Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, will
have an epic finale! Check this out;
"The most difficult thing about writing a trilogy is coming up with the climactic ending of the trilogy. So for that third film, you have not only the usual challenges of coming up with an ending, but somehow you have to have the ending of all endings. The one thing for me that's unique about At Worlds End is that there's a sense of finality to it. Everybody on set feels it as we're winding down shooting. This is a giant, epic fantasy trilogy, and it's coming to a close. There's resolution to the characters. It is that sort of culmination of the storyline. It's coming to a climax. What couldn't be there in Dead Man's Chest is present in At Worlds End. And that's kind of interesting."
I didn't really like Dead Men's Chest though, but I think At Worlds End will be an awesome visual effects fest!

Newsflash:
Hi guys, once again, more filmfans from around the globe found my little movie website and decided to stick around for the ride! The site got an incredible visitors boost last month, I'll do my best to keep you guys up-to-date on the latest movie news and deliver my straight-to-point reviews. Thanks, everybody!!! Back to business, here's a rundown of the latest movie developments, enjoy;
Martin Scorsese will develop, and possibly direct, the big screen adaptation of Eric Jager's historical novel The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal and Trial by Combat in Medieval France. The novel centers on a duel between knights Jean de Carrouges and Jacques LeGris. I'd rather see the director making another gang flick! Source: Variety
Susan Sarandon and Jonathan Tucker are joining Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron in the flick In the Valley of Elah. The film is directed by Paul Haggis (Crash) and follows a veteran father (Jones) in search of his son who has mysteriously gone AWOL. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Tobey Maguire is not really interested in putting on the tights for Spider-man 4; "This might be a good place to stop - I am not tied contractually to any more Spider-Man movies. I am not completely closed to the idea of another one if it made sense but I would say the odds were in favor of this being the last one." Source: Star Pulse

Paul Verhoeven's next:
Paul Verhoeven's (Total Recall) upcoming project is based on the life of Jesus. Check this out;
"Well, first of all it is a book. It may be a film after. Essentially it is about Jesus the human being. That's a big step isn't it? To see him only as a human being, and it's as historical as possible. It really goes into the politics of the time and tries to show a lot of things that have been buried and eliminated by Christianity. My scriptwriter told me not to do the movie in the United States because they might shoot me. So I took his advice and decided to write a book about it first.
My portrayal of Jesus' life will be much more realistic and much more historical. I just want to go for what is historically, sociologically and politically real, and is defendable. I mean we couldn't have the scene of Jesus praying at Golgotha when everyone else is sleeping. How could we have a report of that when everyone's sleeping? That's a contradiction in the text already. So all those will be eliminated."
