Ben Affleck a John Woo fan?:
Ben affleck beweert dat hij een grote John Woo fan is. Hij werktte met deze Hong Kong action director aan de
sci-fi film Paycheck. Affleck speelt in de film een computer expert die wordt ingehuurd voor
een top secret project.
"You get a guy like John Woo, you know he's going to elevate it," Affleck said. "It's really a relief for me, as opposed to working for somebody where you're not sure. I loved [Woo's early films] The Killer and Hard Boiled and those movies, since they've kind of changed the American independent movie scene in the early '90s. I was, like, a 20-year-old film geek at my house. I had the Hard Boiled poster. So this is a big deal for me."
That's cool Mr. Affleck, John Woo re-invented action with his Hong Kong movies!

Travolta in Tarantino's next - updated 06/12/03:
Quentin Tarantino en John Travolta zullen weer samen werken sinds Pulp Fiction. Tarantino kon geen rol voor
Travolta vinden in Kill Bill en Vega Brothers komt ook niet van de grond. Maar Travolta zal zeker de hoofrol
spelen in Tarantino's volgende project dat omschreven wordt als een "airplane thriller". De film zal in de traditie zijn van de oude
rampenfilms zoals Airport en Towering Inferno. Tarantino is op dit moment bezig met Kill Bill Vol. II en
daarna komt de WWII film Inglorious Bastards uit.
Updated 06/12/03: Verschillende bronnen beweren dat het nieuws over Tarantino's rampen film niet waar is en meer een grap was tijdens een persconferentie.

Jackson talks King Kong:
Peter Jackson praat wederom over zijn nieuwe film, dit keer zonder hobbits maar wel met een grote aap in
de hoofdrol, King Kong:
"I'm interested in (King) Kong being quite stylised and the jungles of Skull Island I want to be very over-the-top, like a jungle from hell. I imagine we are going to be more successful pulling that off in the studio or in a back lot than we are trying to find a beech forest in the South Island," he said. Naomi Watts is on board to play the lead role. "She got really excited and it was great. Naomi's the only person that we've really approached because she's becoming so eagerly sought after by everybody." And supporting cast? "A lot of the characters are members of the ship's crew and we don't really kind of know who they are because we are going to write the script from scratch again." Wellington special effects companies Weta Workshop and Weta Digital will work on the film. "Once we get started on Kong we get a few months of what I call gentle work because I am writing, having meetings at Weta and looking at designs," Jackson said. "It's actually going to be easier. . . (than The Lord of the Rings) the logistics involved don't seem as daunting."
De film zal voornamelijk in New Zealand gefilmd worden met een budget van ongeveer $33 miljoen (dat is trouwens niet veel).

Newsflash:
Hi Guys, mijn excuses voor de late update, had problemen met mijn internet verbinding but I'm back met het
laatste filmnieuws, veel leesplezier.
Interessante roddel vandaag, Sigourney Weaver is klaar voor Alien 5.
In dit laatste deel gaat Ripley naar de planeet van de Aliens met als doel ze voorgoed te vernietigen.

Mulder himself, David Duchovny, sprak over een nieuwe X-files film:
"We're also working to put together the next X-Files movie. I'd imagine we'd get into shooting in the

Lord of the Rings regisseur Peter Jackson ziet het toch wel zitten om ook
Tolkiens The Hobbit te verfilmen. Wanneer hij dit zal doen is niet duidelijk, de komende

Dunst en Elijah "Frodo" Wood met een script geschreven door de geweldige Charlie Kaufman.

Dirty Harry in Batman:
Clint Eastwood wordt benaderd voor de rol van Gotham Mayor in de nieuwe Batman: Intimidation film.
Clint is erg blij met het voorstel: "I would like to show a lighter side to my character in my later years."
Persoonlijk zie ik liever Clint als de bejaarde Batman van Frank Miller's comic Return of the Dark Knight, man,
that would be great.

New Van Helsing pic:

Hugh Jackman als Van Helsing. De actie spektakel is geregisseerd door Stephen Sommers
(The Mummy).
Set in the late 19th century, Stephen Sommers' screenplay finds Bram Stoker's fabled monster hunter, Van
Helsing (Jackman), summoned to a distant Eastern European land on a quest to vanquish evil. Now, for the first
time since the 1940s, Universal's greatest classic monsters -- Dracula, the Frankenstein monster and The Wolf
Man -- return to the screen as complex, multi-dimensional beings re-imagined by writer-director Sommers.
The Van Helsing character first appeared onscreen in the seminal 1931 Universal classic Dracula and has
since appeared in hundreds of motion picture and theatrical adaptations of Stoker's novel.

US Box Office Nov 28-30:
The Cat was niet bang voor de spoken van Eddie Murphy. The Cat in the Hat was de grote
winnaar van het Amerikaanse Thanksgiving Box Office weekend. The comedy The Haunted Mansion
met Eddie kwam op de tweede plaats binnen met $25 miljoen. Will Ferrells Elf doet het nog
steeds prima met een derde plaats, totale opbrengst is inmiddels $130 miljoen. Nieuwkomers Bad Santa,
The Missing en Timeline waren niet interessant genoeg voor het publiek dat
meer op zoek was naar films met een fun-for-the-whole-family gehalte.

The Fast and the Furious 3:
Paul Walker, binnenkort te zien in Timeline, sprak over Vin Diesel die misschien in een derde Fast and Furious
gaat spelen: "Nothing's definite, you know how
this town works! But the sequel did really well and rarely do you see a sequel reach the success of the
first one. We actually did much better, so I think we'll go back and do a third one, and we're hoping Vin
will be on board. It will be great, me, Tyrese and Vin."

Paycheck site online:
The official site van John Woo's sci-fi flick Paycheck is nu online. "Based on the short story by Philip K. Dick, "Paycheck" is about world famous genius Michael Jennings (Ben Affleck), who does specialized projects for high-tech corporations. Once a job is complete, his memory is erased so as not to divulge any company secrets. Highly paid for his work, Jennings expects to earn $4.4 billion for his latest 5-year project, but upon completion of the job, instead of a big paycheck, he is given an envelope full of random objects and told that he has agreed to forget all payment. With his memory erased per usual, Jennings has no defense, until he discovers that the objects are clues to his past. Now, with the help of Rachel (Uma Thurman), the woman he has worked with and loved for the last three years, Jennings is in a race against time to put the pieces of his past together before the people he once worked for have him killed."
