Bay's The Island details:
Detroit Free Press heeft een paar
sappige details gevonden over Michael Bay's sci-fi thriller The Island. De cast van de film over een
'clone-on-the-run', bestaat uit Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson, Djimon Hounsou en Steve Buscemi.
Bay filmt op dit moment in Detroit, lees snel verder:
The epicenter of shooting is West Fort Street between Washington Boulevard and Griswold Street. On Monday, director Michael Bay ("Pearl Harbor," "Armageddon") and his crew are scheduled to begin filming an elaborate, big-budget car chase there, with plenty of crashes and possibly a few explosions.
But this week, you can see the emergence of a new cityscape. A 14-person crew from Los Angeles has installed the subway entrance, a taxi stand, a giant sign covering the front of the Comerica branch building at Shelby Street and West Fort and an enormous steel truss spanning all six lanes of West Fort that soon will carry signs directing drivers to the Hollywood and Pasadena freeways, among others.
Dat wordt vast en zeker een lekkere actiefilm! De film zal volgend jaar zomer uitkomen.
Well, guys, dit was het weer voor deze week. Ik moet de komende dagen nog even aan een filmscript werken maar zal a.s.

Sammo Hung vs. Donnie Yen:
Kung-fu Cinema heeft een aantal action-packed pics geplaatst van
Sha Po Lang. Donnie Yen (Hero) speelt een cop die jacht maakt op een huurmoordenaar.
Zijn speurtocht wordt verhinderd door een crime boss, gespeeld door Sammo Hung (Martial Law),
met als gevolg 'a battle of screen legends'! Yen is de action-director van de story-driven martial arts film en combineert zijn

Newsflash:
 Training Day scriptschrijver David Ayer maakt zijn regiedebuut met Harsh Times. Christian Bale en Freddy Rodriguez spelen de hoofdrol in de film dat omschreven wordt als een West Coast versie van Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets. Source: Production Weekly
De nieuwe poster van Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby is online. Eastwood regisseert en speelt de hoofdrol naast Morgan Freeman en Hilary Swank. Klik op de pic voor een grote versie.

Alan Silvestri talks The Polar Express!!!:
Filmmuziek componist Alan Silvestri en producer/songwriter Glen Ballard schreven samen de muziek voor Robert Zemeckis' The Polar Express. Alan Silvestri
werkte eerder samen met de regisseur aan o.a. Back To The Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit en Forest Gump.
"Of course Alan and Robert had worked extensively together," vertelt Ballard, "which turned out to be a great advantage for me, since I was able to plug right into an existing creative relationship. But the real luxury was being involved in the project almost from the inception."
"I've done eleven films with Bob and this one was unique in that we began thinking about the music even before the script was finished," voegt Silvestri toe. "It was a very fluid process, which mirrored the process of developing a whole film from a very slim children's book. Bob had created almost a stream-of-consciousness story treatment, but if there's one thing I've learned from working with him over the years it's that even when it seems like he's just brainstorming, he's really telling you exactly what he wants. At one point he suggested that maybe we should have a song about hot chocolate, so we went off and wrote 'Hot Chocolate.' The work was very intuitive, but at the same time very focused."
De componisten wisten ook de ster van de film te strikken voor een paar liedjes. "We wrote two songs, the title track and 'Hot Chocolate' which were sung by Tom Hanks, who stars in the film," vertelt Ballard, "and Steven Tyler agreed to perform 'Rockin' On Top Of The World'. It just doesn't get any better than that."

Tarantino's goes Hong Kong:
Nope, niet Inglorious Bastards of Casino Royale maar een "Kung-fu Flick" zal de nieuwe film van Quentin Tarantino's worden:
"Inglorious Bastards, Not yet, Man. My next movie is gonna be another kung fu that's gonna blow your asses off. Everyone still thinks I'm doing Bastard's next, but before I do that I want to do something much smaller.
The next movie will be in Mandarin! I enjoyed shooting all the Japanese stuff in Kill Bill, so much so that this whole film will be entirely in Mandarin. If you're not up to watching it with subtitles I really want to do a full-on dubbed version. Maybe shooting two Kill Bill movies has spoiled me but f&*k it - sue me!"
Cool, ben benieuwd wie de fight choreographer wordt, misschien Yuen Woo-Ping?

Pierce Brosnan talks James Bond:
Pierce Brosnan is ervan overtuigd dat Irishman Colin Farrell (Tigerland) een goede James Bond opvolger is:
"He had a presence: Face, body, voice, the eyes. He would make a good one. He'll eat the head off them all."
De acteur onthuld verder dat hij met Quentin Tarantino onderhandelt om een film te maken. Tarantino heeft namelijk aangegeven
dat hij heel graag de Bond roman Casino Royale wilt verfilmen.

Zack Snyder talks 300!!!:
Dit is geweldig, Dawn of the Dead (2004) regisseur Zack Snyder vertelde meer over zijn nieuwste project, 300, een
film dat gebaseerd is op de comic van Frank Miller:
"I'm really excited about 300. I was just on the phone with Frank [Miller] yesterday talking about the script that my partner, Kurt Johnstad, and I wrote. We got his take on it because we are doing a rewrite. The script is based almost exactly on the comic book, and all we did was add a second story with King Leonidas' wife trying to rally the troops to support her husband. We wanted a little more girl-power in the movie. We are about to shoot a test for Warner Bros because they want to see how the comic book comes to life and what it looks like."

U.S. Box Office Oct 29-31:
Horror flick The Grudge staat voor de tweede week op nummer 1 in de Amerikaanse Box Office. De film
bracht $22 miljoen op en heeft in totaal $71 miljoen verdiend. Het is nu dus zeker dat er een vervolg gaat komen.
Jamie Foxx's Ray heeft het ook fantastisch gedaan met een tweede plaats en $20 miljoen! Here's the rest of the Top Ten:

Seven Swords:
Wu-jing heeft
een geweldig artikel geplaatst over Tsui Hark's swordsplay epic Seven Swords. De Hong Kong regisseur/producer leverder klassiekers als Legend of Zu en de Once Upon a Time in China films.
Volgens Tsui Hark is Seven Swords China's antwoord op de Lord of the Rings trilogie. 6 films zijn nodig om het boek te verfilmen. De cast bestaat uit Leon Lai, Kim So Yeon en Donnie Yen:
"The fights are very complicated, and that his swordplay would break away from the past mould, would be a breakthrough, is very fast, yet gives a special feeling."

Starwars.com heeft de nieuwe teaser poster onthuld van Star Wars Episode III:
"Like the teaser posters for The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, this one features Anakin Skywalker. Hayden Christensen is depicted as the heroic Jedi warrior, with the encroaching dark cloud of his future represented by his flowing cloak hinting at the Dark Lord to come. It is a darker incarnation of the shadow that followed him as a young boy in the Episode I teaser poster, with the terrifying features of Darth Vader more visible than ever before."

Hannibal returns!!!:
Dino DeLaurentiis Company heeft de filmrechten van de nieuwe Hannibal roman, Behind the Mask. Het bedrijf
produceerde ook Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs en Hannibal. Alle films zijn gebaseerd op Thomas Harris' boeken over de
gevaarlijke menseneter Hannibal. Behind the Mask zal meer vertellen over de achtergrond van Dr. Lecter. Het boek
verschijnt volgend jaar herfst in de winkel.
