Newsflash:
Hi guys, here's the last newsflash of the week, as usual I'm skipping friday but will be back with the next update this weekend!
Spike Lee and Brian Grazer are developing a sequel to Inside Man. Lee is currently working with the original's writer, Russell Gewirtz, on a script. Inside Man was Spike Lee's biggest film, and starred Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster.
Directors Allen and Albert Hughes will helm a big screen version of the 1970s classic TV series Kung Fu. The orginal series starred David Carradine.
Nope, it's not Gael Garcia Bernal or Freddy Rodriguez but Edgar Ramirez who will play the villain in The Bourne Ultimatum. Ramirez played Keira Knightley's bounty hunter buddy Choco in Domino.

Speed Racer movie coming up!:
Finally, The Wachowski Bros are back on the director's chair, helming the big screen version of Speed Racer! The film is based on the classic 1960s series about the adventures of a young race car driver. Matrix's Joel Silver will produce the family-friendly film. "They are approaching these racing scenes in a way you've never seen before," Silver said, "They wanted to do something that could appeal to everybody."
The leather-fetish brothers directing a family flick? This I gotta see! The plan is to shoot Speed Racer in summer 2007 for a summer 2008 release.

The action-adventure, which will mark the first collaboration of the martial arts experts, costs 70 million dollars and will be directed by Robert Minkoff (The Lion King, Stuart Little), while Yuen Woo-Ping will handle the action sequences. The John Fusco (Hidalgo) script is based on the legend of the monkey king and his quest to achieve immortality. Shooting is set for April.

Halo on hold!:
Sad news for the Halo fans, Jackson and Microsoft's WingNut Films has released the following statement:
"As was previously confirmed, we deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement. At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with their partner, Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans throughout the world that we would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen. We are fully supportive of Director Neill Blomkamp's vision of the film. Neill is a tremendously gifted filmmaker and his preliminary work on Halo is truly awe-inspiring. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait."
To be honest, I'm really not familiar with the Halo universe, but I'm always in for a great sci-fi epic, so lets hope things will be put on track again within a few years.
