Morpheus Directs?:
Laurence Fishburne sprak met de Telegraaf tijdens de promotie van zijn laatste film Mystic River
(yep, hij maakt ook nog andere films dan The Matrix), geregisseerd door Clint Eastwood.
Fishburne vertelde dat hij weer graag achter de camera wilt stappen als regisseur. Hij maakte zijn
regiedebuut met Once in the Life en dit keer wilt hij het boek The Alchemist verfilmen.
Het boek is door de braziliaanse schrijver Paulo Coelho geschreven en vertelt het verhaal over het
volgen van je hart en het verwezenlijken van je dromen. "Ik hoop hem te maken als regisseur, omdat
ik het verhaal dan precies zo kan vertellen zoals ik dat wil. Als acteur heb je dat niet in de hand."

Thunderbirds Update:
Filmmagazine Premiere heeft in hun nieuwe editie een artikel over Thunderbirds geschreven
met een foto en cast interview. De film richt zich voornamelijk op het "Spy Kids" publiek en
het verhaal gaat over de 14 jarige zoon van Alan Tracy die graag bij het Thunderbirds team wilt horen.
We weten in ieder geval wat voor 'n soort film we kunnen verwachten, kids...

Are We Cool?:
Be Cool is de titel voor het vervolg op Get Shorty en in januari gaat de
produktie van start met F. Gary Gray (The Italian Job) als regisseur. John Travolta speelt weer de
rol van de slick Chili Palmer. Naast Travolta zien we misschien ook The Rock als een bodyguard/singer.

Return of the Pirates:
Regisseur Gore Verbinski gaat wederom met de piraten aan de slag in Pirates of the Carribean 2.
Johnny depp, Kiera Knightly, Orlando Bloom en uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer zullen ook weer
van de partij zijn. Wanneer Verbinski denkt te beginnen hangt af van de schrijvers Terry Rossio en
Ted Elliott die op dit moment aan het script werken.

Hayden talks Episode III:
Latino Review
voerde een uiterst interessant gesprek met Anakin Skywalker. Christensen Hayden vertelde iets meer over Star Wars Episode III!
George Lucas has described the tone of Episode Three as being the darkest of the franchise yet. Is that true?
Hayden: "Yes, it really will be. It still has to reach out to a specific audience, but it will be substantially darker than the previous films."
Nick Gilliard (the stunt coordinator) has said the light saber battles in the film will be the greatest so far. That's a bold statement once you've seen Yoda and Count Dooku go at it. Can you confirm this?
Hayden: "I will say, on the record, the final fight sequence in this film will, in my opinion, and not having seen any of it cut together, should surpass any fight sequence that has been put on film so far. It's the longest, I can't give you specifics, but it is quite the bad-assed fight scene. Nick Gilliard has done an amazing job instilling an arc of story in the fight. It justifies, because you know Anakin and Obi-Wan have it out, but Anakin is the chosen one-he is supposed to be the best. But he comes out on the shorter end of the stick in the fight. It justifies it really nicely as the fight progresses."

Pulp Fiction Volume II?:
Quentin Tarantino sprak over een mogelijk vervolg op zijn meesterwerk Pulp Fiction:
"That's something I always planned on doing, but other projects took precedence. Ten years on , John Travolta's getting older, Michael's getting older. I don't think they'd even want to do it. Not that that's the last hope audiences have of seeing more of Vic or Vincent Vega. There's an idea I have a Pulp Fiction follow-up. Sequels generally suck, so it's nothing I want to rush into. But Bottom line the studio wants it, the fans want it. I'm sure I can compromise somewhere. It'd be my way of apologizing for never getting Vega Brothers off the ground I guess. That way, we could get John, we could get Michael, and we could get Sam and Tim...everyone back. It would be interesting to see whatever happened to Jules and his plans to 'walk the earth'. Hey, just having Michael and John in the same frame would be great. They're great. But that said, I got to write such a thing."
Dat zou fantastisch zijn maar de volgende film van QT wordt in ieder geval de WWII film Inglorious Bastards.

Viggo Mortensen Interview:
Aragorn himself Viggo Mortensen sprak met The Official Lord of the Rings site over het laatste deel van "The Rings", Return of the King:
Word is the battle scenes in The Return of the King are extraordinary. What's the secret to making them work?
"I think Helm's Deep, which was the centerpiece of the second movie, will be topped--not once but probably twice--in the third movie. Peter Jackson just enjoys battle sequences, the greater the scale and number of combatants, the better. That's the kid in him. He's got collections of thousands of little toy soldiers and things in his house. The big battle sequences work because he leaves emotional threads running through, where you see individual effort and suffering and achievements on a small scale within this giant canvas."

Hulk 2:
The Hulk is niet door iedereen met open armen ontvangen afgelopen zomer. Ik vond de film een meesterwerk
en ik ben dan ook blij om te horen dat producer Gale Anne Hurd van plan is om een vervolg te maken:
"We're all really proud of the film we made. It was an origin story. And I think now that we've got the origin, I think we can have a lot more fun with the sequels."
Hopelijk speelt Eric Bana ook weer mee.

Casting News:
Even tussendoor een casting news update:
 The Rock gaat in de comedy Instant Karma spelen. De film is een combinatie van live action en CGI en vertelt het verhaal van een man die na zijn dood terug komt in de vorm van verschillende dieren. De cast bestaat verder uit Pierce Brosnan, Mira Sorvino, David Alan Grier en Eartha Kitt. Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise en Gene Wilder verzorgen de stemmen van de dieren.
Gary Sinise, Alfre Woodard, Linus Roache en Anthony Edwards zijn toegevoegd aan de cast van The Forgotten. Julianne Moore speelt de hoofdrol en de film wordt geregisseerd door Joseph Ruben.
Don Cheadle speelt samen met Pierce Brosnan en Woody Harrelson in the actie film After the Sunset. De film wordt geregisseerd door Brett Ratner (Rush Hour).

Het plaatje ziet er veelbelovend uit en ik krijg er toch steeds meer vertrouwen in dat dit wel een goede comic movie kan worden!

Steve Martin is Inspector Clouseau?:
Steve Martin is aan het onderhandelen om in de The Pink Panther te spelen als de onhandige
Inspector Jacques Clouseau. De remake wordt geproduceerd door Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters), wie gaat regisseren
is niet bekend.

US Box Office Oct 10-12:
Tarantino's 4th movie Kill Bill Vol. I kwam binnen op de eerste plaats met een opbrengst van
ruim $20 miljoen! Jack Black's Old School viel terug naar de tweede plaats maar
doet het nog steeds goed met zo'n $15 million. De romantische comedy Intolerable Cruelty
met in de hoofdrol George Clooney en Catharine Zeta-Jones doet het ook prima met een derde plaats. De film is
gemaakt door de Coen Bros (Fargo, Barton Fink) dus dan weet je dat je een romantische comedy met een twist kan
verwachten, ben benieuwd hoe die is.

Man-Thing:
The Herald Sun heeft meer info over de Man-Thing movie:
"Man-Thing is described as a frightening creature movie in the tradition of the classic thrillers Alien
and Jaws. The plot centres on an oil baron who drills oil wells in a sacred Indian swamp and awakens
the mystical monster, who is the soul and spirit of the swamp. When the monster rises from the depths
of the swamp, seeking revenge, a string of deaths follows."
Brett Leonard (The Lawnmower Man, Virtuosity) regisseert de film maar het is nog steeds niet zeker of de
film in de bioscopen gaat draaien of een direct to video project wordt.

King Conan not dead yet?:
Writer/Director Jonh Milius is nog steeds van plan om zijn film King Conan: Crown of Iron te
maken nu Governator Schwarzenegger andere dingen aan zijn hoofd heeft.
"This could be John's best script ever," says a source about the Conan the Barbarian follow-up. There's
a challenging Conan role and it contains five significant female roles."

Freddy vs. Jason vs. ?:
Er zal ongetwijfeld een vervolg komen op Freddy vs. Jason maar wie zal worden toegevoegd aan
de titel is nog onduidelijk. Mogelijke kandidaten zijn Myers, Chucky, Leatherface of Evil Dead's Ash.
Waarschijnlijk kiest de studio voor Ash om deel te nemen aan de tweede ronde! Fangoria
schreef het volgende:
"FANGORIA has learned that New Line Cinema is seriously considering adding Ash (Bruce Campbell) to the inevitable FREDDY VS. JASON Round Two that the studio has in development. This is not some Internerd rumor, though the notion has been tabled out there in horror fandom for months. Sure, we’ve heard about other permutations for a follow-up to the blockbuster rumble (everything from FREDDY VS. JASON VS. LEATHERFACE to …VS. CHUCKY to …VS. MICHAEL), but the Ash scenario, evidently, is the only one that New Line is treating as a legitimate idea."

McG talks Superman!:
Geen verassende ontwikkelingen wat betreft het Superman project maar we hebben eindelijk
een statement van de regisseur McG:
"I'm a big fan of 'Superman,' and you know, I'm discussing it with Warner Brothers, but it's still very
uncertain. "It's a big project and they're being very cautious, and I'm being very cautious and it's
yet to be seen if it's in the cards.
I think they want to be very respectful of the crown jewel of, you know, all their franchises about the
studio. It's a great character. And I think everybody who would ever be a part of that type of picture
wants to get it done properly. So I don't think they're in any rush to make that picture, and I think
their focus is on doing it right."
There you go, now lets make the damn movie!

Paul Verhoeven returns to the Low Lands:
Paul Verhoeven keert terug naar Nederland om een film te maken! Op dit moment is hij samen met
scenarist Gerard Soeteman het script aan het afronden. De thriller speelt zich af tijdens WW II in 1945
en heeft als werktitel Zwartboek. Het project is Verhoevens eerste Nederlandse film
sinds hij in 1983 vertrok naar Hollywood waar hij inmiddels geschiedenis heeft geschreven met klappers
als Robocop, Total Recall en Basic Instinct. "Het is sinds ik naar Amerika ben vertrokken een hartenwens
van me om nog een film in Nederland te maken," vertelt Paul Verhoeven, "Het moet een oer-Hollandse film
worden maar wel goed genoeg om op internationaal niveau te kunnen concurreren."
De film wordt in Den Haag en Biesbosch opgenomen, cast en crew is nog niet bekend. Misschien vraagt hij
wel zijn maatje Jan de Bont om op te treden als director of photography…. I'll keep you posted.
