ARCHIVES WEEK 40 2004

Newsflash:
Man, what a terrible week, no groundbreaking headlines, exclusive pics or some official Superman updates. Well,
I did find a few interesting newsbits and cool trailers for today's newsflash, enjoy:
Sean Connery left Brett Ratner's heist flick Josiah's Canon. The film has already gone into production, I'm very curious who will replace him. Connery left the project because he wants to work on his autobiography... yeah right! Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Sharon Stone will star in Cougars. The story revolves around a 40ish woman who falls for a 27-year-old man. Sharon is also set to star in Basic Instict 2. Source: Variety
I was a bit shocked when I read this news, Catwoman directer Pitof will make a live-action version of the classic anime Akira. Though Pitof's work is visually stunning, I don't think he's the right man for the job. I'd rather see Stephen Norrington back on board, he was previously attached to helm the film.
Great new trailers today, first the action packed Flight of the Phoenix, starring Dennis Quaid. Second, the funny trailer for Robots, the computer-animated flick is being voiced by Ewan McGregor, Halle Berry, Mel Brooks, Greg Kinnear and Robin Williams.

Newsflash:
Paramount is in talks with most of the cast of The Italian Job for a sequel! Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Seth Green, Mos Def and Jason Statham could all be back with F. Gary Gray as director, who also helmed the remake. Source: Variety
Ice Cube talked to Blackfilm about his leading role in xXx2 (sans Diesel though):"In the first movie, Vin Diesel was the x-games type of dude, you know, extreme sports. The agency threatened to send him to jail if he didn't go to work for them. In the sequel, I play a guy who used to be in Samuel's unit, who is already locked up in a military jail for disobeying orders from the General."
I don't know how, but IESB managed to get their hands on the trailer for the spyflick Mr. and Mrs. Smith starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The trailer looks pretty amazing! Hit the link to check it out.
Ouch, there seems to be a problem with the soundtrack of the Star Wars Trilogy DVD box. Scifi Wire reports that though the sound effects are correctly positioned, the music score is backwards. The glitch appears only on Episode IV, the left and right rear speakers are reversed.
Great new poster for Michael Keaton's supernatural thriller White Noise is now online over at Latino Review. Click on the pic for a larger version.
