ARCHIVES WEEK 38 2003
18/09/03 Unbreakable Superman?: I had rub my eyes after I read an article on Superman V. This could be a dream come true, check it out: "Who is this mystery writer/director that could be coming onto Warner Bros' new-look, Peters lacking Superman? Who is Mark Millar talking about? We can't say for sure who he meant, but after consulting various sources, only one name came up that wasn't McG... M. Night Shyamalan. As for being someone who will not disappoint fans and being a writer/director (Mark's description), he fits the bill. Does he know Mark? We don't know, however it seems Mark is a huge fan of Unbreakable. In fact, Shyamalan's quite the Superman nut, having a two-foot statue of the Man of Steel in his office and writing the introduction for Alex Ross' upcoming 'Mythology' book." Please, Mr. Shymalan, make this movie! Other Superman news, Superhero Hype reported that Brendan Fraser is in talks again to play the Man of Steel. 18/09/03 Man-Thing update: Creature Corner talked to Man-Thing writer Hans Rodionoff who denied that it will be a straight to video project and this movie will not be your average Marvel hero movie: "This movie is nothing like 'Swamp Thing.' This, quite possibly, could be the scariest Marvel movie ever. It's their first real foray into straight up horror. 'Blade' is kind of a horror/action hybrid. This one is just out for the scares," explains Rodionoff. "It's a horror movie. 'Swamp Thing' was a comic book movie about a swamp creature protagonist. The Man-Thing is not the protagonist in this movie." 18/09/03 Casting News: John Voight joins The Manchurian Candidate as Senator Thomas Jordan. Denzel Washington, Meryl Streep were also cast, Jonathan Demme directs.
Benjamin Bratt will play police detecive Tom Lone with special feelings for Patience Price, a.k.a. Catwoman.
Giovanni Ribisi joins the cast of The Flight of the Phoenix. Dennis Quaid plays the captain of a plane crashed in the Sahara desert. The survivors must try to build a plane of the wreckage when it becomes clear that no rescue will arrive.
17/09/03 First Anakin Skywalker Pic!: Le French Star Wars fansite Sith Clan has the first image of the Jedi who turns to the Dark Side. Check out Anakin Skywalker with long hair and pre-Darth Vader outfit. Looks kind a cool, ey? 17/09/03 No more movies for Schwarzenegger: Arnold Schwarzenegger confirms he's out of the movie business if he's elected for California State Govenor: "Obviously I will not be able to do movies anymore because I will be busy for many many hours every day working on the mess that is out there in California. It will be a lot of work and a huge challenge. So my movie career I will have to put aside. But this is much more important to me now." Dude, that means no T4 (well, without Schwarzenegger) and King Conan...awww, that sucks! "I will not be back!" Source: The Arnold Fans
17/09/03 Schwarzenegger Cameo in The Rundown: Seems that Arnold Schwarzenegger has a cameo in The Rock's new flick The Rundown! Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tells us how The Terminator ended up in the film: "He said he was in the area and he wanted to stop by and have lunch. We're having lunch, [director] Peter Berg came over and had lunch with us. Peter leans over to my ear and whispers 'Hey, should I ask him to be in the movie?' I said 'Do you want to be in the movie.' He's eating and he says, 'Yeah, let's go, I'll do it right now.' He gets up and looks around and says 'Let's shoot.' Within 15 minutes we're on the set in the bar and all these extras are like 'Oh my God, it's Arnold.' He has this bright jacket on, I don't know where he got it, it had all these cartoons and characters on it. It was surreal, we had no dialogue. Peter asked him 'So what do you want to do?' Arnold says, 'I just want to tell him to have fun.' Great. Shoot it. That was it. It was really cool of him, really nice." Great story, Rock! Source: Coming Soon 17/09/03 Second Spider-man 2 Poster!!!: Holy Shiiiit, this poster rocks! Check out the second poster for the Spider-man sequel! Update: just received an e-mail that the poster could be fan made....(but the poster still rocks though)! Source: The Z Review 15/09/03 News Flash: I haven't got groundbreaking news today but I did find some interesting newsbits, enjoy:

13/09/03 The Flash TV Series: Writer/producer Todd Komarnicki is working on The Flash TV series for WB. The comic based character seeks justice in a Smallville-like approach, which means no red spandex suit but a "no tights, no flights philosophy." "Once our hero gets his calling, he's given the advice, Live fast so others don't die young," Komarnicki tells Variety. The Flash is an ordinary man with superhuman speed and moves so fast that he's able to move back and forth in time. He also discovers that there's a legacy of Flashes before him. Sounds great, I love Smallville and bet The Flash will also kick ass! 13/09/03 John Ritter dies: John Ritter who played in a lot of comedies (Skin Deep and Stay Tuned) and a couple of television shows has died. Ritter collapsed while filming 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. He was 54.
