Unbreakable Superman?:
Ik moest mezelf even in de arm knijpen toen ik een artikel las op de Superman V site, check it out:
"Who is this mystery writer/director that could be coming onto Warner Bros' new-look, Peters lacking Superman? Who is Mark Millar talking about? We can't say for sure who he meant, but after consulting various sources, only one name came up that wasn't McG... M. Night Shyamalan.
As for being someone who will not disappoint fans and being a writer/director (Mark's description), he fits the bill. Does he know Mark? We don't know, however it seems Mark is a huge fan of Unbreakable. In fact, Shyamalan's quite the Superman nut, having a two-foot statue of the Man of Steel in his office and writing the introduction for Alex Ross' upcoming 'Mythology' book."
Please, Mr. Shymalan, make this movie!
Ander Superman news, Superhero Hype vermeldt dat Brendan Fraser weer benaderd wordt om de rol van Superman te vertolken. Een paycheck van 25 miljoen dollar wordt hem aangeboden...

Man-Thing update:
Creature Corner sprak met Man-Thing schrijver Hans Rodionoff over de film. Hij vertelde dat de film niet een direct to video project is zoals eerder werd vermeld. Deze film zal ook niet een standaard Marvel hero movie worden:
"This movie is nothing like 'Swamp Thing.' This, quite possibly, could be the scariest Marvel movie ever. It's their first real foray into straight up horror. 'Blade' is kind of a horror/action hybrid. This one is just out for the scares," explains Rodionoff. "It's a horror movie. 'Swamp Thing' was a comic book movie about a swamp creature protagonist. The Man-Thing is not the protagonist in this movie."

Casting News:
John Voight zal de rol van senator Thomas Jordan spelen in The Manchurian Candidate. Andere spelers zijn Denzel Washington en Meryl Streep, Jonathan Demme regisseert.
Benjamin Bratt speelt de rol van detective Tom Lone die speciale gevoelens heeft voor Patience Price, a.k.a. Catwoman.
Giovanni Ribisi is toegevoegd aan de cast van The Flight of the Phoenix. Dennis Quaid speelt een captain van een vliegtuig dat neergestort is in de Sahara. Wanneer duidelijk wordt dat ze geen hulp meer krijgen, zijn ze genoodzaakt om van de wrakstukken een nieuw vliegtuig bouwen.

No more movies for Schwarzenegger:
Arnold Schwarzenegger heeft bevestigd dat hij voorlopig geen films gaat maken als die gekozen wordt tot California State Governor:
"Obviously I will not be able to do movies anymore because I will be busy for many many hours every day working on the mess that is out there in California. It will be a lot of work and a huge challenge. So my movie career I will have to put aside. But this is much more important to me now."
Man, dat betekent dus geen T4 (althans, zonder Arnie) en geen King Conan, ...dude, that sucks! "I won't be back!"

Schwarzenegger Cameo in The Rundown:
Ander Schwarzenegger nieuws, de Terminator himself is eventjes te zien in The Rundown. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson speelt de hoofdrol in deze actie spektakel en vertelt hoe Schwarzenegger in de film terecht is gekomen:
"He said he was in the area and he wanted to stop by and have lunch. We're having lunch, [director] Peter Berg came over and had lunch with us. Peter leans over to my ear and whispers 'Hey, should I ask him to be in the movie?' I said 'Do you want to be in the movie.' He's eating and he says, 'Yeah, let's go, I'll do it right now.' He gets up and looks around and says 'Let's shoot.' Within 15 minutes we're on the set in the bar and all these extras are like 'Oh my God, it's Arnold.' He has this bright jacket on, I don't know where he got it, it had all these cartoons and characters on it. It was surreal, we had no dialogue. Peter asked him 'So what do you want to do?' Arnold says, 'I just want to tell him to have fun.' Great. Shoot it. That was it. It was really cool of him, really nice."

US Box Office Sept 12-14:
Woohoo, Once Upon a Time in Mexico kicked ass en kwam op nummer 1 binnen met een opbrengst van $24 miljoen! Andere nieuwkomers zoals de comedy Matchstick Men met Nicolas Cage en de horror flick Cabin Fever deden ook het prima met de tweede en derde plaats.

Wow, geweldig nieuws, it's official, guys, Christian Bale is Batman! Warner Bros. President of Production
Jeff Robinov heeft het gisteren bekend gemaakt: "Now that we've found the best person to play Batman, we are really looking forward to moving ahead with the rest of our casting, and are excited about the exceptional group we are assembling." What I see in Christian is the ultimate embodiment of Bruce Wayne," vertelt regisseur Christopher Nolan (Memento). "He has exactly the balance of darkness and light that we were looking for." Het verhaal, geschreven door David Goyer en Nolan, zal de begin jaren van Batman belichten. Nu maar hopen dat de Superman film ook eens een keer van grond komt. |

The Flash TV Series:
Writer/producer Todd Komarnicki werkt aan The Flash TV serie voor Warner Bros. The comic based karakter bestrijdt het kwaad in een Smallville-achtige stijl, d.w.z. geen held in een rood pakje maar een "no tights, no flights philosophy."
"Once our hero gets his calling, he's given the advice, Live fast so others don't die young," vertelt Komarnicki aan Variety. The Flash kan zich supersnel verplaatsen, zo snel dat hij in staat is om naar het verleden of toekomst te rennen.
Klinkt veelbelovend, Smallville vind ik geweldig en denk dat The Flash ook een succes kan worden.

John Ritter dies:
John Ritter, bekend van vele comedies en TV series is overleden. Hij zakte in elkaar tijdens het filmen van 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. John Ritter is 54 geworden.
