ARCHIVES WEEK 36 2003
05/09/03 Editor's Note: Regular visitors probably wondered what happened to the daily updates. Well, I wasn't visiting a film set or chatting with some filmmakers, I just had some major problems with my internet connection. My provider worked around the clock to solve the problem. You know, it sucks, my lil' Dutch site is getting more visitors by the day and know this happens.... But I'm back, everything is up and running again! I've selected the most interesting movie news from the last days and THANKS for visiting movieXplosion.com!!!: Peter Hyams talked to Sci-Fi Wire about A Sound of Thunder, the
story revolves around "a big-game hunter who goes back in time to hunt a dinosaur and inadvertently changes
the future. Hyams, who is no fan of hunting, has changed the character (played by Edward Burns) into a
genetic researcher who is going back in time to take DNA readings in an effort to reconstitute wildlife
that has vanished from the Earth in the future. "And when they come back from one of these [time trips],
things begin to change, and they don't know why things begin to change," Hyams said. "And the changes
escalate." After a number of subsequent time trips, Hyams said, "the city is actually turned into a
primordial jungle. What you're basically seeing is evolution gone berserk, so the few people that are
left are in fact the prey. And what is hunting them are things that no one's ever seen before."
Movie Hole reports that Marvel's Man-Thing is
in full production:"The new studios here are just fantastic. We couldn't have asked for more. Many have said it before me but I think this will be one of the best comic to flick movies yet."
Brett Leonard (Lawnmower Man, Virtuosity) directs.
Vincent Cassel joins George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Andy Garcia and Bernie Mac
in Ocean's Twelve.
Check out Matrix Revolutions pics here
and Disney's Brother Bear here.
Peter Jackson talks Return of the King:"I've come to realise that the third film is the reason why you make the first two,' he goes on to say. 'You want to get to this one, you want to finish it. Also, when Film Three is released you get this other dynamic - at that point it will probably become in most people's minds, a nine-hour film."

Batman: Intimadation, the new title for Chris Nolan's version
of the caped crusader. AICN posted a great article
with a list of actors who are in talks for the lead.
Movie Hole talked to Predator 3 scribe
Sam Park. The Rock is being considered for Schwarzenegger's role now he's making a career move to politics.
"I think this is an excellent idea," Mark says, "and could insure the franchise continuing on for many
years - Clay McBride and I have definite ideas for sequels with some bizarre twists for the Dutch
character and the Predators that we believe will keep the franchise stories fresh and exciting for
decades."

He also talked about the rivalry between his and Baz Luhrmann's version which is still in early development stages: "Ours is going ahead in four weeks on three continents, and I think this is the biggest project of my life, there was no race for me the race was getting the script finished, I feel nervous and anxious, but we are closing the gap fast though! It's a nice break from it to come to Edinburgh. It's a great story, I've been working on the script for so long. There are surface events, but you have to get into a theme and find the characters and take the shot. Baz's "Romeo and Juliet", is my favourite, it shows he can do something really extravagant and beautiful. I don't know about his theme, I think it would have been different if they'd gone first with Leonardo. We've got Colin (Farrell), and I believe he's got true grit, he's very impressive, with a mercurial Irish temperament. In four weeks I'll be able to tell you some more and hopefully by February I'll be smiling!" He has made over 60 films including the popular Death Wish movies. I loved his performancen in Sean Penn's The Indian Runner. Mr. Bronson was 81.
30/08/03 The Haunted Mansion Poster: Another Disneyworld ride is making its way to the big screen. The Haunted Mansion starring Eddy Murphy is in full production at the moment and Latino Review posted the poster for the horror flick! 30/08/03 Antonio Banderas is ready for Zorro 2!: Antiono Banderas talked to Latino Review about Zorro 2. Banderas wanted to work with Spielberg again who executive produced the first movie: "That's [Zorro] another landmark actually in my career, and to work with Steven Spielberg is not that bad. [Laughs] I had a great time when I shot the first one. Steven Spielberg came to the theater [Antonio is in a Broadway play called NINE] like several weeks ago and said to me "We want to do a different approach to Zorro this time, we want to make more of an adult movie, and we are going to talk about more of the human stuff, there's going to be a big issue with General in the second part, and more of the relationship between you and your wife" and of course there's going to be stunts and all that stuff but they are going to make the film a little bit more deeper than the first one was, and I thought that was an interesting approach instead of going for the popcorn straight forward, they wanted to something a little more complex than that. I thought that was interesting too." Great, Banderas also talks about Shrek 2 in the interview so check out Latino Review! 30/08/03 Spidey and Leatherface are online: The official Spider-man 2 site is available with some great wallpapers, screensavers and more goodies. Leatherface also discovers cyberspace on the official creepy Texas Chainsaw Massacre site. Click on the pics to enter the sites:
30/08/03 Kill Bill Vol 2 release date: Miramax will release the second part of Kill Bill on Februari 20, 2004. Aside from marketing considerations, the split decision has awards implications. "Volume 1" is eligible for Oscars this year and "Volume Two" will be eligible next year. Oscar voters will no longer have to weigh two halves of this franchise that would have been competing for the same vote. Source: Variety 30/08/03 xXx2: Revolutions Studios is still moving forward with the sequel to xXx. Who will direct the project is not clear, Rob Cohen lost interest but has not officially stepped off xXx2. Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) is in talks to direct the sequel.
