Kevin Smith talks horror movie:
Kevin "Silent Bob" Smith is van plan om voorlopig geen komedie films te maken. De regisseur, bekend van Clerks en Chasing Amy, onthulde
dat zijn volgende film een hele enge horror flick gaat worden;
"Next up I want to do a horror movie. I just think it would be kinda interesting – for me at least – to go left. I’ve made seven comedies, or variation thereof, and some people would argue that none of them are funny. But it would be nice to make a horror movie. An intentional horror movie, not like Jersey Girl. It’s a genre that I grew up watching on VHS and on cable when I was a kid.
No jokes and stuff, not like Scary Movie 4. There are people that do that really well, like Edgar Wright with Shaun of the Dead, but I don’t want to make a comedic one, I want to make a straight-forward horror movie. It’ll be a bit of slasher, but I’m kinda looking more at … you remember that movie Race With The Devil? It’s more kind of in that vein. Or Wicker Man. Something in that vein where it’s creepy and unsettling more than gore."

Newsflash:
Prachtige trailer van William Friedkin's psychologische thriller Bug is online verschenen! De cast bestaat uit Ashley Judd, Michael Shannon en Harry Connick Jr., klik hier voor de trailer.
South Park creators Trey Parker en Matt Stone gaan voor Paramount twee live-action films maken. De eerste film wordt een highschool komedie met de titel My All-American en de tweede film heet Giant Monsters Attack Japan! Deze
film wordt een combinatie van live-action en de "rubber suit" techniek dat gebruikt werd in de Japanse Godzilla films! Source: Variety

Dave Meyers talks The Hitcher remake:
Remakes, remakes, remakes... why? Deze keer gaat music video regisseur Dave Meyers een vernieuwde versie maken van The Hitcher.
De originele versie is in mijn ogen een klein meesterwerkje waarin onze Rutger Hauer de hoofdrol speelt. In de remake wordt hij vervangen door Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings).
"Sean Bean fell into the category of what we were looking for and what Rutger was back then," vertelde Meyers, "We were looking for that great character actor that has star potential but isn't a star yet. We didn't want somebody that was too overblown or too eccentric or too movie star but we didn't want somebody that was fresh off the boat either. Sean has been a part of so many amazing movies and is one of those faces that everybody recognizes but don't really know. So it was a chance to make him a star as well as capitalize on his amazingly subtle acting."
Fans zullen ongetwijfeld de beruchte "finger in the French fries scene" voor de geest kunnen halen, de vraag is natuurlijk of dit ook in de remake wordt gebruikt.
"No," bevestigde Meyer, "But we will have an improved truck scene where we go beyond the original. The finger in the French fries was minor to me. I felt with the whole Wendy's lawsuit and all that stuff, it would play comical and unbelievable. It worked in the original but we're trying to go a lot more real with this movie and make it something with real fear like how Jaws is with water."

Transformers update!:
Alex Kurtzman en Roberto Orci, schrijvers van de Transformers film, zijn van plan
om de gigantische robots realistisch te benaderen, check this out:
"In translating this thing to live action, ... all of these Transformers are being designed in the movie such that, when they transform, there's no cheating. It's very much what it would realistically look like if a Transformer was sitting right there as a car, and it turned into the character that you know.
This is a real movie where humans, actors, are going to be interacting with robots. We approached it from the point of view thinking, 'You know, when Steven Spielberg went to make Jurassic Park, nobody could imagine what it would be like to watch humans interacting with dinosaurs.' So the more people ask us, 'Well, is it a cartoon?' the more we thought, 'Wow, no one's ever seen anything like this before. We have this amazing opportunity to do something for the first time.' And that's kind of what shaped the way that we approached writing the characters, making our decisions and how we shaped the story."
Transformers is op dit moment in production en de film wordt geregisseerd door de Master of Mayhem, Michael Bay!

U.S. Box Office August 18-20:
The weekend Box Office berichten verschillen, de een beweert dat Ricky Bobby de nummer 1 film is, de ander geeft Snakes on a Plane het voordeel van de twijfel.
Well, SOAP is weliswaar de #1 movie inclusief de opbrengst van donderdag maar een weekend Box Office telt vanaf de vrijdag tot en met de zondag, en dat betekent dat Will Ferrell wederom op de eerste plaats staat! Here's the Top Ten:

Casting update:
Sorry voor mijn vertraagde update, maar was een beetje druk... snel door met het laatste casting news:
Daniel "James Bond" Craig vergezelt Eva Green en Nicole Kidman in de avonturenfilm The Golden Compass. De film is gebaseerd op de His Dark Materials serie van Philip Pullman.
Susan Sarandon en Helena Bonham Carter vertolken de hoofdrollen in Eleanor and Colette. De film vertelt het verhaal van een vriendschap tussen een patient van een psychiatrische inrichting (Sarandon) en haar advocaat (Bonham Carter).
Mos Def, Melonie Diaz, Mia Farrow en Danny Glover spelen naast Jack Black in de komedie Be Kind Rewind. De film wordt geregisseerd door Michel Gondry die ook verantwoordelijk is voor de fantastische Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Josh Brolin is toegevoegd aan de cast van Ridley Scott's American Gangster. De film gaat over de Harlem drugs kingpin Frank Lucas, die gespeeld wordt door Denzel Washington.

Tim Story's Fantastic Four 2 update!:
Tim Story, de regisseur van het vervolg op Fantastic Four, geeft een interessante update over de productie op zijn blog.
Eerder deze week werd bekend gemaakt dat de sequel een nieuwe titel krijgt; Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer... yup, that's pretty cool. Story vertelt het volgende over de aanpassingen van het pak van de Thing:
"The latest test of Chiklis' new thing makeup is looking good. I think I told you guys about how we were improving the suit. For one it's lighter and will allow Chikie to be more athletic. I know many of you wish the Thing could've been more agile, well you got it. Michael's excited. We've made improvements to areas like the brow. Yes yes, it's a little bigger. You guys have to remember the brow can't be too big because it just doesn't look as good as you might think, but we have improved it. This all came from the fans saying they wish it were bigger. He'll be wearing more clothes as well. Now that he's comfortable with himself, we can have more fun with his appearance. Wait until you see him in his tux."
