Halo finds director!:
Neill Blomkamp maakt zijn filmdebuut met de sci-fi film Halo! De regisseur werd ontdekt door zijn
indrukwekkende korte films en commercials. "As a gaming fan, I'm excited to bring Halo's premise, action and settings to the screen with all the specificity and reality today's technology can provide," vertelde executive producer Peter Jackson, "Fran and I are intrigued by the unique challenges this project offers, and we're delighted to be working again with our friends at Universal, and with our new ones at Fox and Microsoft. With Neill on board, I'm even more excited by the potential of this project."
Ik ben niet echt bekend met de Halo universe maar een nieuwe sci-fi film is natuurlijk altijd welkom. Daarnaast is het een gewaagde keuze van Jackson om een relatief onbekende filmmaker te kiezen voor het project. I'll keep you posted... en ik ben dit weekend terug met de volgende update!

The Boys From Brazil reloaded:
Rush Hour en X3 regisseur Brett Ratner gaat een remake maken van The Boys From Brazil.
Laurence Olivier en Gregory Peck waren te zien in de originele thriller uit 1978. De film vertelde het verhaal van Nazi's in Zuid Amerika die mensen kloonden.
De schrijvers van de remake zullen trouw blijven aan de originele versie, de actie wordt wel verplaatst naar heden.

 Napoleon Dynamite's John Heder speelt tegenover Billy Bob Thornton in School for Scoundrels, de trailer is nu online, check it out right here.
Matthew McConaughey en Kate Hudson, eerder te zien in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, spelen weer samen in Fool's Gold. Andy Tennant gaat de avonturen-komedie over getrouwde treasure hunters regisseren. Source: Variety

Christian Bale talks The Dark Knight!:
Acteur Christain Bale reageerde op de laatste berichten over de Batman sequel met de coole titel, The Dark Knight,
en vertelde over Heath Ledger die de rol van The Joker gaat vertolken! Here ya go:
"I just love that title. You know, nothing's written in stone yet, but I like, very much, that it doesn't have 'Batman' written in the title. This take on Batman of mine and Chris' is very different from any of the others and everything else always had Batman in the title. I think this is kind-of distancing it even further and saying, Hey, this is a whole different creature from what has come before.
Heath is very much into what Chris had done with the first one and he's very passionate about the role. And he's a really good actor so we're going to see something very special from him."
Chris Nolan verzorgt wederom de regie, het script wordt op dit moment geschreven. I'll keep you posted, guys.

Plissken returns?!:
Het is een gerucht dus neem het met een flinke korrel zout, volgens Bloody Disgusting maken John Carpenter en Kurt Russell
plannen voor een nieuw Snake Plissken avontuur met de titel Escape From Earth! De site vermeldt het volgende:
"A major meeting was held at Paramount last week with both John Carpenter and Kurt Russell in attendance. The topic -- preparing for a third entry in the Snake Plissken chronicles entitled Escape From Earth.
Apparently, Carpenter completed a script for the project eight years ago but the studio has now taken an interest in it after Russell demanded doing it before signing on with the studio for a three picture deal."
Ik zie graag Kurt met het ooglapje terug, ben heel benieuwd hoe dit afloopt!
Updated 08/08/06: Well, guys, bovenstaande gerucht is volgens AICN onjuist. De site sprak met John Carpenter; "Escape from Earth is an idea we had several years ago, but it never really got any further than that."

om terug naar de roots van de Turtles te gaan en dat betekent minder "cowabunga and more reality";
"It is a bigger story and a more serious story, but at the same time you can't deny what made the Turtles what they are. It's that magic mix of action and character-based comedy.
The threat that our villain poses is unleashing an army of monsters into New York City. It's about world domination, and it doesn't feel like it takes place on three sound stages that we could afford to build in live action.
It seems like with everything that has been done before, and it's mostly for budgetary reasons, it feels like if you make the right, wrong turn, you can stumble upon the Turtle lair. I really want to make it feel like you have to really know where this thing is; you go into the belly of the city to find where the lair is. We actually follow Mikey down, and we see all the architecture change from modern concrete to the brick and rusted pipes, and the color gets sucked out the deeper he goes."
