Cameron's new project:
Regisseur James Camerons heeft weer een nieuw project gevonden, een film over een getrouwd stel Francisco "Pipin" Ferreras and Audrey Mestre, gespecialiseerd in diepzee duiken zonder zuurstof flessen. Beide zijn kampioen geweest maar Audrey stierf toen ze haar eigen record wilde verbreken van 557.7 feet.
Het tragisch verhaal wordt niet zijn volgende film want Cameron is momenteel bezig met een geheimzinnig 3-D project. (Could it be Aliens 3D?)

xXx 2 update:
S.W.A.T. producer Neil Moritz sprak met About.com over het vervolg op xXx: "I can tell you that it takes place in the United States (and no exotic loacation). We just ultimately decided that this fit the characters better, or actually was something a little different than what you'd expect. It's not necessarily that it has to be exotic. It just has to be really cinematic. There's plenty in the United States that we can have."
Director Rob Cohen zal helaas niet van de partij zijn om xXx 2 te regisseren, wie zijn plaats overneemt is nog niet bekend.

After The Sunset finds director:
Brett Ratner heef besloten waar die aan gaat werken na het verlaten van de Superman film. Ratner gaat New Line's heist movie Ater the Sunset regisseren. Pierce Brosnan speelt de rol van een "master thief" die met pensioen gaat na zijn laaste grote overval. Woody Harrelson speelt de FBI agent die niet wilt geloven dat de dief besluit om te stoppen met zijn werk. Een kat en muis spel is het gevolg.
Wat er met Rush Hour 3 gaat gebeuren, de film die Ratner in de eerte instantie zou regisseren, is niet duidelijk.

Some Pretty Amazing posters!:
Kevin Costner's western Open Range draait op 15 augustus in de Amerikaanse bioscopen. De film is geregisseerd door Costner en naast hem spelen ook nog Annette Bening en Robert Duvall. Jo Blo heeft een paar sfeervolle posters geplaatst. Check them all out right here.

Punisher press conference:
Superhero hype waren "the lucky bastards" om de press conference bij te wonen van The Punisher. Thomas Jane, director Jonathan Hensleigh, producer Gale Anne Hurd en vele anderen waren aanwezig om de vragen te beantwoorden. Ik ben erg, heel erg blij dat er een foto te zien is van de blonde knul Thomas Jane die zijn haar speciaal voor de film zwart heeft geverfd! You can check out the pic and the full report here!

T3 DVD details:
The Arnold Fans vroeg aan Terminator 3 director Jonathan Mostow wat we kunnen verwachten van de T3 DVD. Mostow vertelde het volgende: "Well, we have some cool things for the DVD. Of course we have the commentaries, but these commentaries are maybe going to be a little bit more interesting then you're used to. I am really encouraging the people that I worked with on the movie is to really get specific about the nuts and bolts on what they do and how they contributed to the movie. We've got some great features on the movie that show behind the scenes, how we made the special effects, and I was thinking of making a DVD where you can actually build your own visual effect with materials of the movie. So I am kind of exited how it's going to be. It's really cool."

Return of the King update!:
Regisseur Peter Jackson gaf The Lord of the Rings Fan magazine een update over het laatste deel de Return of the King: "We're shooting, we're cutting, the visual effects still have a long way to go before they are done, we haven't started recording the music yet - so for me there may be light at the end of the tunnel, but the premiere in December still seems a long, long way away from where I am at the moment. I have experienced my last day of shooting Elijah Wood as Frodo and my last day of shooting Viggo (Mortensen) as Aragorn. Those to me are more profound than what my personal last day is going to be."
"It is the movie that I want to be most proud of, so I am working very hard to make sure that happens. I think when people look back at the three films, I want Return of the King to be the one that really lingers with them in terms of the emotional experience. I want it to be the reason why we made the other two films."
Sigh, ...I can't wait!

Pitch Black - The Chronicles of Riddick update!:
The guys from CHUD bracht een bezoekje aan de set van Pitch Black II, ook bekend als The Chronicles of Riddick: "These are the largest sets I've ever seen. Larger than "Men In Black II," larger than "Planet of the Apes," larger than "Looney Tunes: Back in Action" (no, that last one's not a joke - there is a MASSIVE set that was built for the finale of that pic). It takes place 5 years after the original "Pitch Black." Yes, it's a trilogy. Think "Lord of the Rings" focusing on Riddick with "Pitch Black" being "The Hobbit." Vin Diesel and Keith David are the only returning actors, though the character of "Jack" (the girl pretending to be a guy who thinks Riddick is cool) is returning, but is being played by Alexa Davalos of "Angel" fame. It's a 77-day shoot and they're about halfway through. They're only shooting the first one at present and are aiming to have it be "stand alone," not a cliffhanger-type pic like "Reloaded" or something. They made a conscious decision to move away from "horror film" and into "science fiction epic."
Writer/director David Twohy, die het eerste deel maakte is ook weer verantwoordelijk voor het vervolg!

US Box Office August 1-3:
Geen verassingen dit weekend, de derde American Pie film, American Wedding, kwam op de eerste plaats binnen met $34 miljoen. Spy Kids "still rules" op nummer twee met $20 miljoen. Tomb Raider 2 is uit de top vijf geschopt en houdt krampachtig vast aan nummer 6. Andere nieuwkomer Gigli met Jennifer Lopez en Ben Affleck kwam binnen op...man, het is te warm om over deze film te schrijven. De film heeft zoveel slechte recensies ontvangen en waarschijnlijk is die volgende week weer uit de top tien verdwenen. Snel verder naar...

Terminator 4:
Ik heb Terminator 3 al een paar keer gezien en ik moet toegeven dat hij toch steeds beter wordt. Iedereen die de film gezien heeft weet dat door een soort open einde alle opties voor een vierde Terminator aanwezig zijn. Dark Horizons heeft nieuws via een betrouwbare bron over Terminator 4: "T4 is essentially a go picture. Figures for T3 weren't fantastic, but still quite good. Very good. The entire cast has signed for another one. I believe there's a plan for Arnold to do this and King Conan back to back - but the latter film still has a question mark over its head. Depending on how the Wachowski's do with "Matrix 3", it mightn't be happening yet."

Stan Winston interview:
Movie Hole sprak met spfx Guru Stan Winston die een paar interessante onderwerpen boven tafel bracht:
"Right now, I'm in the middle of working on a wonderful movie over at Columbia - with Laura Ziskin, who did "Spider-Man", called "Constantine", based on a comic called "Hellblazer". I can't say too much, because of a confidentially agreement I have with them, but the script is wonderful and we're working on some great character designs for it."
Sounds great? Lees dan snel verder, het blijkt namelijk dat Mr. Winston niet gevraagd is om mee te werken aan Aliens vs. Predator film. Da's vreemd want Aliens en de Predator zijn door Mr. Winston himself gecreëerd!:
"I wanted to be involved in that so badly. I mean I created the Predator. I drew him up on a plane ride with Jim Cameron. And then Aliens, I created the Queen. So they're like my babies, so I wasn't very happy that I'm not asked to be a part of it. Pride of Ownership, I guess. Still, I wish them the best of luck, and just hope they do the film some justice."
No way, de film kan nooit gemaakt worden zonder Master Winston!!!
