Source: Variety 31/07/03 The Ring 2: Niomi Watts has agreed to star in the sequel to the horror film The Ring: "I really liked that role, and it seemed to do well, so absolutely..." Producer Walter Parkes told Sci-fi Wire that the second movie will be both a prequel and a sequel, telling parallel stories. The Ring 2 will be an original story and not based on the other Japanese Ringu movies. Source: Lights Out Entertainment
31/07/03 Gladiator 2 update: Gladiator star Djimon Hounsou talked to the Chicago Sun about a possible Gladiator sequel: "I heard a rumor about bringing Russell back from the dead for the sequel. I don't think it's happening that way. The only survivors left from the first film are myself, Connie Nielsen and the kid. I would assume that the sequel will center around the kid." Hounsou already signed to do the sequel and producers are "vividly talking about the project, too!" Source: Coming Soon 30/07/03 Chris Nolan talks Batman!: The London Metro talked to director Chris Nolan how the Batman movie was coming along: "Fantastic. I'm having the time of my life. [It's at the] very early stages, which is where it's tremendous fun. I'm getting to watch my vision of the world of Batman. To do that and get paid for it is brilliant." So what exactly is his vision for the series?: "Er, bloody marvellous? I can't. It's absolutely, excruciatingly top secret." Talking later on about one of his favourite films, 2001, Nolan explains that, "I think that if you show something incredible and take them to a different world you don't necessarily have to be telling them the clearest or most obvious story." When the reporter says that he'll read that as Nolan's vision for Batman the director agrees: "Absolutely. Definitely." Source: Empire Online 30/07/03 Spider-man 2 Poster!!!: Superhero Hype posted the Spider-man 2 poster and it looks amazing! Hit the pic for a larger version. 30/07/03 A-Team Movie?: AICN got some more info on the A-Team movie:"Dirk Benedict (Face) was interviewed today. He said he didn't know exactly where the A-Team film sits in development, but that Brendan Fraser was rumoured to play Face. Dirk went on to explain the he wanted Owen Wilson to play his old role, but apparently Owen is up for the role of Murdock, so that's out." I don't know how serious this news is but one thing's for sure, you can't replace Mr. T!
30/07/03 The Bourne Supremacy update: About.com talked to producer Frank Marshall about the sequel to The Bourne Identity: "Matt [Damon] will be back. It will take place in Berlin, Moscow and India. It will be totally different. The stories in all three books are very dated. It's about the cold war and things that have all been resolved and are over with." Too bad director Doug Liman will not helm The Bourne Supremacy. 30/07/03 Catwoman Casting News: Remember the french talking Merovingian (Lambert Wilson) in The Matrix Reloaded? He will join Halle Berry in Catwoman! Remember the blonde (Sharon Stone) in Basic Instinct? She's going to play his wife in Catwoman! Source: Superhero Hype 30/07/03 What's up with these directors?: Last week director Payton Reed left the Fantastic Four project. It's official now and he left the movie due to "creative differences." And now Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld dropped out of Fun with Dick and Jane starring Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz. The reason why he left the project is unknown. Source: Variety 29/07/03 Robocop IV?: Dutch magazine Preview talked with Paul Verhoeven and he's interested in doing another Robocop!: "I'm thinking of bringing Robocop back. I think we will leave the 4 off, and start afresh. I enjoyed Page Fletcher's performance as the character in the recent mini-series, so ideally we'll have Page playing the role. I'd like to push the boundaries on this one. Take out all the comicbook style the previous robocop films had, and bring back the action, suspense, and really delve deeper into the characters origins. I'm toying with the idea of centerting the story around Murphy and his grown son, James. But that's all I want to spill at this point." Yeah, I also saw the mini-series, liked Fletcher but I'd rather see Peter Weller back on board! Source: Dark Horizons 29/07/03 The Conspirator: Robin Williams, Paul Newman and Susan Sarandon are set to play in The Conspirator. This historical film takes place during the Civil War and will be "a courtroom drama about the assassination of Abe Lincoln." Source: Coming Soon

Schlesinger won an Oscar for Midnight Cowboy, he was 77. 26/07/03 Starsky & Hutch set report: Coming Soon visited the set of Starsky & Hutch and had a nice chat with Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller and the director Todd Phillips. Phillips explained the tone of the film which is set in the 70's and talked about the actors: "It's an interesting tone the movie has, because it's not really a spoof or a parody. It's really just saying: this is the prequel to the series 'Starsky & Hutch'. This movie takes place before the series was shot, ostensibly, in your mind. To me, movies are all about casting so I think the casting in this movie is just so dead-on for right now. Between Ben and Owen, of course, and Vince, Juliette Lewis, and Snoop Dogg. Will Ferrell does a cameo, which is great. We have just some great stuff in the movie. Not that other cop movies aren't cast well. I just think that this movie's pretty exciting to cast, to me." Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrel also played in Phillip's comedy Old School. I can't wait to see this movie, oh... and you can read the rest of the report here! 26/07/03 New Trailers : Two new trailers are on line. The first one is the vampire vs. werewolves flick Underworld, the second one is the Russell Crow vehicle Master and Commander. Click on the pics to check them out!
