Newsflash:
Hi guys, weer een zeer hete dag in the Low Lands, dus ik hou het kort. Here's a quick rundown of the latest movie news:
 Guy Ritchie (Snatch) gaat de gangsterfilm Static regisseren. De film vertelt het verhaal van een gangster die onterecht wordt opgesloten. De gangster probeert met de hulp van zijn ehm... gang, terug te slaan. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Paul Verhoeven is terug met een ouderwetse oorlogsfilm. Klik hier voor de trailer van Zwartboek. De trailer is niet echt geweldig, zo te zien beloofd het weer zo'n standaard Nederlandse film te worden met de nodige sex en geweld.
The official site van Robert Zemeckis' animatiefilm Beowulf is hier online. De cast bestaat uit Ray Winstone, Angelina Jolie, Crispin Glover, Anthony Hopkins en John Malkovich.
Fletch is back! Maar deze keer zonder Chevy Chase... Spin City en Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence gaat Fletch Won regisseren. Dat betekent dat Kevin Smith zich heeft teruggetrokken, Jason Lee waarschijnlijk niet de hoofdrol zal vertolken (da's jammer want hij is fantastisch in My Name is Earl) en Scrubs-ster Zach Braff nu de frontrunner wordt voor de hoofdrol. U.S. Box Office July 21-23:
De Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest is voor de derde week de nummer 1 film van Amerika! De film
heeft inmiddels meer dan 320 miljoen dollars binnengehaald. De Ivan Reitman komedie My Super Ex-Girlfriend met Uma Thurman flopt gigantisch met de zevende plaats. Here's the rest of the Top Ten:

Grindhouse cast:
Mijn favoriete directors, Quentin Tarantino en Robert Rodriguez, werken samen aan twee '70s exploitation flicks dat aan elkaar verbonden wordt met een aantal hele foute neptrailers.
De cast van Grindhouse is bekend gemaakt. Kurt Russell, Zoe Bell, Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd en Rose McGowan spelen in Tarantino's film met de titel Death Proof.
Freddy Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Josh Brolin, Naveen Andrews, Marley Shelton, Michael Biehn(!), Jeff Fahey en Michael Parks (I love this guy!) spelen in Rodriguez's Planet Terror.
Ik sluit af met een quote van Tarantino over Kurt Russell die de rol van een gevaarlijke 'slasher' speelt; "You've never seen him like this before,... never, ever, ever!"

The Protector trailer and poster!:
Tony Jaa, wereldberoemd geworden door zijn explosieve film Ong Bak, is terug in een nieuwe martial arts flick uit Thailand; The Protector, a.k.a. Tom yum goong.
Een maatje van mij heeft overigens stunts en vechtscènes gedaan voor de film, anyway, de trailer is hier online en ik

Hi guys, veel cool nieuws is bekend gemaakt tijdens de San Diego Comic Con, meer hierover in de headlines van vandaag. Nu eerst een snelle opsomming van de laatste tidbits:

Bryan Singer talks Superman sequel!:
Helaas doet onze superheld het iets minder in Amerika dan verwacht maar gelukkig is Bryan Singer wel van plan om een vervolg te regisseren;
"I haven't concluded a deal to do it yet, which is always iffy. But my intention is to do it. My intention is to do it for 2009. And it would be sort of like, where this one sort of introduced the characters and the universe to some degree, which required some measure of reintroduction, because it had been several years since it had been around, this one, the next one, enables me to get all Wrath of Khan on it."
Geweldig! Singer vermeldt ook dat de tegenstander in het vervolg een alien zal zijn... hmmm, misschien wordt de titel General Zod Returns?!

Stargate sequels?:
Producer Dean Devlin bevestigde tijdens de San Diego Comic Con dat hij met MGM Studios gesprekken voert om twee nieuwe sequels te maken van zijn sci-fi film uit 1994, Stargate!
"We've always envisioned it as a trilogy," vertelde Devlin, "Stargate was also supposed to be the first part of three. We had written all three, not the script, but the story, when we did the first one and due to the nature of how that film got made, and how MGM has changed so many times, and their commitment to doing the series, they've been very reluctant to do the movie.
Our first movie was only trying to tap into Egyptian mythology. The second was to move into other mythologies. Then the third was to realize that all mythologies are actually tied together with a common thread that we haven't recognized before. So if you make it through all three, hopefully we're tying up all kinds of mysteries on our planet that makes one cohesive story. My hope is that the series could live as beginning when the third movie ends."
Klinkt heel interessant! De producer is ook van plan om Kurt Russell en James Spader weer te casten. Regisseur Roland Emmerich zal ook betrokken worden bij de films.
