movieXplosion.com's Ron Smoorenburg interview
Ron Smoorenburg, martial artist, acteur, stunt and fight coordinator. Hij brak internationaal door toen hij tegenover Jackie Chan stond in de film Who Am I? Ron leverde een geweldige prestatie in één van Jackie's beste eindgevechten. Daarna speelde Ron in diverse internationale producties en werkte samen met andere grote Hong Kong legendes, waaronder Donnie Yen en Corey Yuen.
Ron's volgdende stap... Thailand! Vorig jaar schudde nieuwe actiester Tony Jaa Hollywood en de rest van de wereld wakker met zijn indrukwekkende martial arts film Ong Bak. Binnenkort wordt zijn nieuwe film uitgebracht, Tom Yum Goong, en onze eigen Ron Smoorenburg kreeg de kans om in deze film een mooie rol te spelen.  Actor-turned-director Peter Berg gaat Bran Mak Morn regisseren. De film is gebaseerd op de fantasy boeken van Robert E. Howard, de bedenker van Conan. De film vertelt het verhaal van een Britse koning die hulp krijgt van mysterieuze troepen om de aanval van het Romijnse Rijk te stoppen. Sounds cool! Source: Variety
Chris Cooper speelt de hoofdrol in The Road Back. Het drama gaat over een man die zijn stuk gelopen huwelijk moet verwerken. Source: Variety

Uma Thurman en Luke Wilson vertolken de hoofdrollen in Super Ex, Ivan Reitman regisseert. Thurman speelt een superheld die verliefd wordt op een normale vent. Maar nadat hij haar dumpt, gebruikt ze haar superkrachten om hem flink terug te pakken. Source: Variety
Tom Cruise is deze week in Rome begonnen met het filmen van Mission: Impossible 3. De film wordt geregisseerd door J.J. Abrams en de rest van de cast bestaat uit Ving Rhames, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Michelle Monaghan en Philip Seymour Hoffman. Source: Associated Press

Afgelopen weekend de première in Amerika, deze week draait Fantastic Four in de Nederlandse bioscopen en voor deze comic liefhebber natuurlijk een

Jackie Chan talks Rush Hour 3:
My man Jackie Chan legt uit waarom Rush Hour 3 wordt vertraagd. Het schijnt dat co-star Chris Tucker behoorlijk veeleisend is.
De Hong Kong ster vertelt het volgende:
"He wants too much power. The movie company hasn't obliged. He wants final editing rights and the final look at the movie and so on. He's still a new actor, how many movies has he made? Two movies have already made him very famous and made him a lot of money. He needs to learn slowly."
There you go, harde woorden van de ervaren actieheld. Het goede nieuws is dat Jackie Chan nu is begonnen aan
een film dat geregisseerd wordt door Zhang Yimou! Jawel, de man achter Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Superman Returns set report!!!:
Coole Superman Returns set report is op de Superman Homepage geplaatst.
De second unit is op dit moment in Sydney aan het schieten, hieronder uitleg over de scène:
"Supposedly, Superman falls from space. He's accompanied by a kryptonite meteor. He's either trying to stop it, carry it, or has been hit by it. We're not exactly sure. Either way, Superman's plummet to earth is so damaging, that it causes the earth to tremor. An early scene (filmed before we arrived) had actors and stunt men driving cars that skidded to a halt when the tremor hits, and people jump out of the cars running in panic."

Thomas Jane talks Punisher 2!!!:
Thomas Jane is weer hard aan het trainen voor The Punisher 2! Check this out:
"I've already put on 12 pounds of muscle. They want to start going before the end of the year. Ideally I'd like to see the film come out in the fall of 2006, but I don't have any control over that. I still believe The Punisher has so much material to be mined. There's so much new ground to be broken. I would love to see The Punisher go more in the direction of a film like Taxi Driver. I'd like the audience to be able to visit the mind of this guy. The potential for The Punisher-especially when it comes to the real juicy stuff-should go more in the direction of a gritty, urban street drama like Taxi Driver rather than a glossy, fantasy direction like the X-Men films."

U.S. Box Office July 08-10:
Thank God, ondanks de so-so reviews, is Fantastic Four met een grote klap op de eerste plaats in de
Amerikaanse Box Office geland. De film bracht $56 miljoen op en versloeg Spielberg's War of the Worlds!
Ik vond Fantastic Four een leuke film en hopelijk volgen er meer.

Newsflash:
Oliver Stone gaat een 9/11 film regisseren. De film vertelt het waargebeurd verhaal over een reddingsactie van twee agenten. Nicolas Cage speelt de hoofdrol, pre-production is in New York begonnen. Source: Variety
The Aeon Flux website is vernieuwd met een mooie intro. Charlize Theron is te zien in de sci-fi flick, klik hier om naar de site te gaan.
Dit weekend draait Fantastic Four in de Amerikaanse bioscopen, de film is volgende week in Nederland te zien. Voor de fans die niet kunnen wachten, klik hier voor mijn Amerikaanse Fantastic Four Review. De Nederlandse versie zet ik deze week op de site.
Twee mooie posters zijn verschenen. We beginnen met Nicolas Cage in Lord of War. De rest van de cast bestaat uit Jared Leto, Bridget Moynahan, Ethan Hawke en Ian Holm. Ben Burtt directs Chassis:
Star Wars' sound designer en editor Ben Burtt gaat een live action film regisseren van de comic Chassis. The film gaat over rocket car racing in retro-futuristisch 1949.
"Well, I love fantasy and adventure," vertelde Ben, "The setting for 'Chassis' provides a wonderful escapism. I see a hint of the same magic I felt when working on the first Star Wars and Indy films. I think today's audiences will be surprised and receptive to Chassis. It's going to be something they haven't seen before."

Tim Burton talks Charlie!:
Tim Burton, regisseur van Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, had een interessant gesprek met Coming Soon over de film dat gebaseerd is op Roald Dahl's boek.
Here's a clip.
What's the attraction or appeal of doing a remake or adapting a much-loved book like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, rather than working from an original idea?
This project had been floating around for a while when the studio offered it to me. It seemed like it was a project that I was interested in. When I first read the book as a child, Dahl was like an adult writer for children. He didn't speak down to them, and it's kind of a book that you can read at any age and get something out of it. He was very clever at kind of being both specific and kind of subversive and off-kilter and leaving you guessing a little bit. We did try to keep that feeling in what we were trying to do.
What did you think of the Gene Wilder portrayal in the original film?
I think he was great. None of us on the production were ever trying to top it. Our goal, except for the little bit of back story, was to try to be a bit more true to the spirit of the book, and instead of having a golden goose and an egg, to have the squirrels and the Nut Room.
