26/06/03 Ocean's Twelve coming up!: It's official, Steven Soderbergh will begin on Ocean's Eleven sequel this February! The gang is back (including Clooney, Roberts, Garcia, Pitt) and has their eye set on a big caper in England. Ocean's Twelve is scheduled for a December 2004 release. The movie is their take on today's superhero movies and big budget "Bruckheimer" action flicks. Team America characters will not be animated but, are ya ready, played by marionettes! "Our cast will be deliberately made of wood, but that will only be taking to the extreme what is evident in many Hollywood movies right now," Variety quoted Matt Stone as saying about the movie. "What we wanted was to do a send-up of these super important huge action movies that Jerry Bruckheimer makes." The R-rated Team America will definitely beat the live action version of Thunderbirds! I love these guys, good luck! Source: Variety 26/06/03 Pics Combo of the Year - Hellboy, Yoda and The Hulk: Chud posted some new Hellboy pics, click here to view them all! The Force.net posted a great ILM add featuring Yoda and The Hulk, click on the pic for a larger version.
25/06/03 Paycheck Pic Online!: Entertainment Weekly has the first official picture from John Woo's sci-fi flick Paycheck. The movie stars Ben Affleck and here's what he had to say: "There isn't a lot of shooting or exploding; it's more about building suspense, It's a science fiction movie, but it's got an old-fashioned style in a weird way, with a John Woo touch, which makes it feel modern and slick and beautiful." Man, John Woo rules... click on the pic to see a larger version. The following text contains some spoilers but it's interesting to read: "Here's a short summary of what to expect from the film which has been revealed to take place in the present day - It seems that structures which pre-date the pyramid civilizations of Egypt and the Americas have been discovered far beneath the Antarctic icecap by satellites. So to explore this finding billionaire Weyland assembles a drill team, specialists in Aztec and Egyptian archaeology, and an environmental scientist. Once inside the pyramids, the group discover disturbing remains including piles of human skeletons with holes in the chest (from Alien "chest-bursters"), and fossilized Alien "face huggers", seems that the temple was either built or infested by Aliens in Earth's distant past. The script pages make no mention of the Predator. It seems that he may show up farther along in the movie. Considering the depth that must be drilled to reach the Aliens, the Predator may be a late arrival who uses the humans' own passage to the temple". This could be a kick-ass movie but unfortunately the project is in the hands of director Paul Anderson. I liked Event Horizon, was let down by Soldier and hated Resident Evil... keep your fingers crossed, movieXplosion readers. 25/06/03 The Passion Trailer Description: Coming Soon posted a trailer description for Mel Gibson's The Passion starring Jim Caviezel and Monica Bellucci. The Passion follows the last days of Jesus Christ and Gibson tried to film it as realistic as possible including the actors talking Latin and Aramaic. Here's part of the description: "There was no English spoken in the scenes shown and the actors were all speaking Latin and Aramaic. They showed the end of a nail being placed in Jesus' palm, pushed down, and then the hammer about to strike, but stopped short of actually showing the piercing. As I said, it looks really, really powerful. Now that I've seen the trailer, I'm in complete agreement that subtitles are unnecessary." "The movie revolves around a young woman who marries a wealthy merchant to escape poverty. When she falls madly in love with a penniless artist who is hired to paint their portrait, the lovers try to raise money to escape together by investing what little they have in the high-stakes tulip market; at the time, certain flower bulbs changed hands for more than the price of houses." Well, I live just half an hour away from Amsterdam so, Mr. Madden, please let me know when shooting begins so I can visit the set... Source: Variety
23/06/03 Thomas Jane talks Punisher: Thomas Jane mentioned in a recent interview with About.com that he didn't like playing comic book characters at all, but playing The Punisher is a different ball game:"No I wasn't a fan prior to because I didn't like superhero comics, but this guy is such an anti-hero that I've fallen in love with him. He's so dark and it's Marvel's darkest property, so I've fallen in love with the whole thing. And he's not a typical superhero because he doesn't have special powers. Right. He doesn't have super powers. He can't leap over tall buildings, he can't crawl up a wall, he's just really, really angry." Thank God, Thomas understands the character, really hope this movie will rock but I'm still having doubts... No official sources confirmed the title so take it with a big chunck of salt. Are ya ready? Here ya go: "Star Wars Episode III: REVENGE OF THE SITH" Kinda cool, right? Once again, this is not confirmed, "The Revenge of Jar-Jar" could also be a possibility... Source: Cinescape 22/06/03 US Box Office June 20-22: The Hulk smacked down his opponnents and entered the top spot at the Box Office with a heavy $62,6 million! I think The Green Monster will be left alone at the top for the next few weeks. Finding Nemo also did some great business earning $20 million and a total of $ $227,943,000 since opening. Other newcomer Alex and Emma, a romantic comedy directed by Rob Reiner, made its debut at number seven. The action flick The Italian Job starring Mark Wahlberg and Edward Norton made an interesting move and climbed up the charts again! The Top Ten: 1. The Hulk - $62,641,000 2. Finding Nemo - $20,533,000 / $227,943,000 since opening 3. 2 Fast 2 Furious - $10,346,000 / $102,135,000 4. Bruce Almighty - $9,960,000 / $210,700,000 5. The Italian Job - $7,225,000 / $67,695,000 6. The Matrix Reloaded - $4,045,000 / $264,504,000 21/06/03 Bill Paxton Talks Thunderbirds: Bill Paxton revealed some interesting stuff on the upcoming Thunderbirds. Jonathan Frakes directs the big screen version of the popular TV series (and probably will start on Superman after this). I've haven't been a fan of Frakes as director, didn't like the Star Trek movies and I also didn't like Thunderbirds but I got a bit more exited about the project after reading the Bill Paxton interview: "I've got one more day left on Thunderbirds,' Bill told us. 'It's going to be tremendous. You heard it from me first. Thunderbirds is about the International Rescue and The Hood and in a way it's got an innocent charm - great action and great scale and great characters. To me it has an old-fashioned, retro set of ethics - I feel like it's going to be embraced as a breath of fresh air as far as a big family movies go. But when I say family friendly, I don't mean homogenised. This thing has got something for everyone and I mean that in a great filmmaking way. I think it's got to be a tour de force. It's great to see the five brothers running together and all that. It's got a lot of integrity, but it has an innocent charm that I haven't seen in films in a while." Source: Empire Online
21/06/03 Ashton Kutcher is Batman...: Ashton Kutcher has been approached by WB to play Batman in Chris Nolan's take on The Dark Knight according to E!Online. I know Nolan wanted Guy Pearce for the role so really wonder why he chose Kutcher instead? Dude, this news really sucks...! Do you also feel the same? Maybe this new headline will help; writer Mike France (The Hulk) wants to write a Captain America script set during World War III! Yeah, feeling a bit better now, this could be a great project. 21/06/03 Punisher Teaser Trailer Online: The Punisher teaser trailer is online, a very short and dark one that is. I'm still having doubts about this movie but you can judge for yourself by clicking on the pic. ![]() © Artisan 2003 21/06/03 Jackman is Van Helsing: The first pic of Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing appeared online yesterday. This looks so damn cool so it earned a Pic of the Week spot, check it out, top right corner of this page! Go to Archives for last weeks news |
