Newsflash:
Chris Nolan talks briefly about a Batman Begins sequel: "If David's writing it, Christian's still Batman, and everyone else is returning.....me not returning would be like the only student of a graduating class skipping the big day to wash the car." You're damn right! Hope the'll make the sequel soon. Source: Dark Horizons

New Superman Returns video journal:
Superman Returns writers Dan Harris & Mike Dougherty talked about the challenges of telling such a well-known story and what it's like working with Bryan Singer and his familiar crew. I love their approach of making a "sequel" to Richard Donner's film, you can check it out in this new video journal, which includes great concept art. Click on the pic to download!

Marvel update!!!:
Always love to hear Marvel's Avi Arad talk about their upcoming projects and boy, he really spilled the beans this time! Here's a rundown:
Magneto spin-off: "It's being written. It's going to be a smaller movie, but very true to the origin." A younger actor will play the leading role but that doesn't mean we won't see Ian McKellen. "There's no way for me to think of not walking into the story through him - through something happening now, and then going back there. Ian is an ambassador for this, and he needs to be there."
Wolverine spin-off: "Totally different, just Wolverine's journey."
Ghost Rider: "I remember seeing The Perfect Storm, how the whole wave was CGI. You're going to see something similar in Ghost Rider."
Marvel will soon make its own movies including Captain America: "Captain America is the most famous character out there, by name. The biggest opportunity with him is as a man 'out of time,' coming back today - looking at our world through the eyes of someone who thought the perfect world was small-town America. Sixty years go by, and who are we today? Are we better? I have a writer and I have someone in mind to be the star, and I definitely have someone in mind to be the director. This script is going to take a little bit of time, because it has to be a masterpiece. It's Back to the Future kind of stuff."
Silver Surfer: "From a spectacle standpoint, is second to none. It's Independence Day meets Marvel, times 10." A major announcement about the film is expected very soon, I'll keep you posted.
The Punisher: Jigsaw will be the villain in the sequel and the movie will again be R-rated, "Blood and intestines should have been blown out on the wall, because that's the Punisher."
Luke Cage: John Singleton will direct, Diamondback will be the villain.
Thor: "We are feverishly working on Thor. It's a vast Lord of the Rings sort of universe."
Namor: "A lot of design work has been done on it. The script is gigantic." Avi compares this project to Jurassic Park, so I'm getting pretty curious!
Daredevil: "I would make it in a second, as soon as could I get the rights back. We licensed it. If they'll give us the rights back, we'll make the movie." He also mentioned that he would love to make it darker.
And finally, Marvel is also planning to bring Nick Fury, Deathlok, Ant-Man, Dr. Strange and Black Panther to the big screen! Iron man is also in development with Nick Cassavetes attached as writer-director.
Whoa, great news for the superhero fans! Thanks Avi Arad...

24 The Movie!:
A big screen version of the popular TV series 24 is in the works! "The first hour will not be in real-time," director/producer Jon Cassar said, "but then something big will happen and real time will kick in. It still has to be worked out -- it's at a stage where they need to write it. It could still be two years from now, so it's far too early to say."
The script will likely depend on what's happening on the series prior to the movie coming out. The action-packed series stars Kiefer Sutherland as CTU agent Jack Bauer.

Fast and the Furious 3 update:
Director Justin Lin talked to MTV about the third Fast and the Furious film. The streetrace flick, set in Tokyo, will be without Vinnie Diesel or Paulie Walker but will star another troubled teenager. Here's what Lin had to say about the story, casting and more:

"I'm just trying to make a good summer popcorn movie that has a little more to say; that's my goal. I'm not trying to win an Oscar, I just want to stay true to the characters and to the themes and have some kick-ass car chases. Those are the goals.
We're casting the character of Shaun and we're thinking of this kid that will go with the sensibility of the movie I want to make, which is more of a global sense. Someone that you can't quite tell what he is. We're building a whole new cast; we're looking at everybody. The thing that excited me was that it's a brand-new film; we don't want any holdovers. For me, it's very much like a postmodern Sergio Leone movie. Structurally, it's very much like a Western. I want to try to work really hard on the back story. In the initial script, they are Asian and some are Asian-Americans, and I'm working really hard to make them three-dimensional rather than just props, and that's always the challenge."
