19/06/03 Tom Hanks' Next: Tom Hanks will star in A Cold Case after he's finished working on Spielberg's Terminal. One Hour Photo director Mark Romanek will direct the movie and the script is being written by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump). "Hanks will play a New York City D.A. investigator named Andy Rosenzweig who commits himself to solve the murder of a friend. Rosenzweig spends the length of his 27-year career with the D.A. trying to solve the crime as his leads grow ever colder with each passing year." Highbinders) and finally the Foolproof poster. I've never heard of this one, it got Ryan Reynolds playing the lead but the poster looks great. WOW, almost finished todays update but this just came in, some character posters for the upcoming action flick SWAT. I've posted the LL Cool J poster below and you can check out Samuel L. Jackson, Colin Farrell and Michelle Rodriguez right here!!! Source: Latino Review and Empire Movies
19/06/03 Jonathan Mostow's T3 vs. James Cameron's T2: Director Jonathan Mostow talked to Moviehole about Terminator 3. It must have been a real challenge for Mostow to step into the shoes of über-director James Cameron. Here's what Jonathan had to say: He must have great shoes because everyone keeps asking me what it's like to wear them. Yeah, of course. Honestly, when I was first offered this movie, my first reaction was, that's crazy, of course I won't do that. What director would be crazy enough to step into those shoes? And then as I began thinking about it, I just got interested. I was a Terminator fan myself. Twelve years have passed and that's pretty unusual to do a sequel that that's much later. The character John Connor... he was a kid, and now he's a young adult. And I was thinking of that Michael Apted documentary 28 Up, that's already interesting. How am I comparing that to Terminator 3? That's interesting enough to think about that change and now you add a component. Here's a character that for a decade has been walking around wondering if he's the leader of the world, or is he a shmuck who lives under a bridge and rides his motorcycle around with sort of paranoid delusions of machines showing up from the future. That's probably about the most heavy-duty existential dilemma I could possibly imagine. So that was for me, very interesting and once I started thinking about what the story could be and the cool things that you could do with it, I just became obsessed with that I wanted to make that movie. And there's other considerations going on in my head, and my history has always been to sort of ignore the conventional wisdom. Breakdown was turned down by every studio. I had studio executive and studio presidents look me in the eye and say, 'Jonathon, if you do this movie, you'll never work in this town again. This is a bad movie and you shouldn't do it.' When I did U-571... when I was starting to write that, people said 'that's crazy, no one's ever gonna make a World War II movie, and it's shot on water'. Regular readers know that I really love the original LXG poster and these new ones are just perfect. I've posted one of them and you can check out the rest right here! League of Extraordinary Gentleman will open nation wide July 11 (and I'm taking a trip to the Big Apple at that time so you now where to find me, hehehe!). ![]() © fox 2003 17/06/03 Stan Winston Talks T3: Moviehole had a great interview with special effects master Stan Winston, the man who created Aliens, Predator and Terminator. Stan Winston talked about his work on Terminator 3 and working with directors like James Cameron and T3's Jonathan Mostow:"I prefer working with great directors and everyone that I've mentioned to you is a great director. I've obviously loved working with Jim Cameron because of how demanding and how brilliant he is. I've done many films with Jim. started a digital company with him. He's a close friend and he's a brilliant director. I am in awe of Steven Spielberg. I've done a few films with Steven, and the man has the greatest body and range of work of any filmmaker ever alive. From Jaws to E.T., from Close Encounters to Raiders of the Lost Ark. From Schindlers List to Jurassic Park in the same year. The body and the range of his mind is unparalleled by any director ever living. I've now worked with another wonderful director. It's the first time I've worked with Jonathon Mostow and I think he did a really wonderful job with Terminator 3. I look at this movie and I go, my goodness, he really did it. I was terrified after coming off T2, after having worked on the series, what difficult shoes to follow. I think Jonathon did a brilliant job. I think the performances are great. Most importantly, on top of it all, Arnold is back. He's back strong. To watch him and go, the Terminator is back, and there's no compromise whatsoever. It's really cool." You can check out the rest of the interview here! 17/06/03 Aliens vs. Predator: Aliens vs. Predator will finally happen this October in Prague with Paul W. Anderson (Event Horizon, Resident Evil) attached as director. The story follows human scientists going on an expedition to Antarctica to lure Predator hunters, using Alien eggs as bait. Of course, these plans quickly goes awry and the humans find themselves in the crossfire between two warring alien species. I haven't read it all but I've posted this great looking pic below, found on AICN. 16/06/03 US Box Office June 13-15: Finding Nemo swam back to the top spot with $29.2 million last weekend. New releases like Rugrats Go wild, Hollywood Homicide and Dumb and Dumberer had little impact on the top ten. I really thought that Hollywood Homicide, the action comedy with Harrison Ford and heartthrob Josh Hartnett could do better than a dull fifth spot. Anyway, next weekend will be exciting cause The Hulk is coming and mark my words, this guy will crush that lil' fish! The Top Ten: 1. Finding Nemo, $29.2 million 2. 2 Fast 2 Furious, $19.1 million 3. Bruce Almighty, $14.2 million 4. Rugrats Go Wild!, $12.5 million 5. Hollywood Homicide, $11.7 million 6. Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, $11 million 7. The Italian Job, $9.5 million 8. The Matrix Reloaded, $5.5 million 9. Daddy Day Care, $2.1 million 10. X2: X-Men United, $1.6 million 14/06/03 Ratner on Rush Hour 3: Brett Ratner talked with About.com about his upcoming projects: "I just got the script for Rush Hour 3 today [June 3, 2003], so I'm going to read it tonight after I leave here and if it's good, I'm going to do that. If not, I've got a few other movies that I'm trying to decide which one I'm going to do. I'd love to do Dark Materials. I'm begging for Dark Materials. It's just a hard thing to tackle because it's so much. It's three great books. We're trying to figure it out. Samurai Jack, we're just developing the script. I love the script to Be Cool, which I'm not doing, but I'm interested in. I love it. I don't know, there's so much good stuff around". What can we expect in the third RH flick then? "They're going to New York, Paris and then another third place that I'm not going to give away that's going to be amazing. Basically, they're both fish out of water". Source: Dark Horizons 14/06/03 TAXI Remake: Queen Latifah will star in the remake of Taxi. The original French movie was a huge box office smash in Europe and tells the story of a taxi driver who partners with a cop to try and stop a string of bank robberies. Luc Besson produced and wrote the original and will also be involved in the remake. Tim Story (Barbershop) will direct and Queen Latifah will play the role of the taxi driver. You gotta see this, click on the pic! ![]() © universal 2003 14/06/03 Arnold still ready for Conan: Seems that Arnold is still ready for Conan, he talked about the project during LA's Comic Book Convention and revealed that he will definitely be part of "King Conan: Crown of Iron" (one of the coolest movie titles ever)! The only problem is that the script is not finished yet: "I don't think there's any doubt about my interest in Conan," he said. "I love the character of Conan. I think it's one of the most wonderful characters I've ever played in my whole movie career." The project will be supervised by The Wachowski Brothers but they're all tied up now with Matrix movies. "Warner Brothers has the rights to Conan, and the Wachowski brothers are supposed to be in charge of it," Schwarzenegger said. "But obviously, as you can see, they're heavily involved in bringing out their next movie. I think as soon as they come to me and say we have a new script, and it's ready to go to the next stage, we'll sit down and talk about it." Great, Conan doin' bullet-time (or is it sword 'n' sorcerer-time), I can't wait. Source: Sci Fi Wire 14/06/03 McCallum talks Episode III: Star Wars producer Rick McCallum talked about Episode III on the official site: "It'll take place three years or so after Episode II," McCallum posted, adding, "I do believe Ep III will bridge the gap and answer most all of the unanswered questions. I think it's much more of a fun, adventure feel. Although, of course, Anakin [Hayden Christensen] turning into Vader is pretty intense." McCallum said to expect more action and dueling. "Ep III definitively has the most light-saber action of any Star Wars film," he said. "The battles will be on an even larger scale." Go to Archives for last weeks news |
