The Chronicles of Riddick update:
The Unofficial Vin Diesel Site heeft
een artikel over Chronicles of Riddick uit de Franse Score magizine vertaald. Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings)
vertelde over David Twohy, de regisseur van de Vin Diesel sci-fi flim. Here's a clip:
The futuristic universe in which Riddick evolved permits the deployment of extraordinary imagination in matters of mythology and new characters. Karl Urban explains: "In the Lord of the Rings we had the support of an established mythology with the characters already popular before the film. In that one (Riddick), Twohy wrote the universe of Riddick entirely from scratch and made something incredible. He used common points between myths and legends, so all the world, from north to south and east to west will get the feeling of knowing it. In a certain way it is both inconveniency and luxury compared to LOTR. It's an inconveniency because we don't have the support of a brilliant book. It's advantageous because we can believe the world we want, we are free. The only limit, our own imagination. It's on us to raise the ceiling of our thoughts."

Jonathan Hensleigh talks The Punisher:
Writer-turned-director Jonathan Hensleigh heeft gesproken met Superhero Hype
over zijn actiefilm The Punisher. De regisseur sprak o.a. over hoe het was om te werken met
John Travolta die de bad guy van de film speelt.
"His preparation was immense, he's a film icon, he's been doing this for many years, but he's not jaded, he loves cinema and he's not going through the motions. But he loved the part, and he loved the script and the movie, and he brought his whole game and there were a number of times in the morning where he came in and offered a whole world of experience. I received many gifts from John during the shooting. We changed dialogue on the fly sometimes when lines weren't working, but what I loved was his calmness and collectedness, and he made everything very easy for me."
The Punisher opens in theatres next friday!

Fantastic Four update:
Gisteren werd bekend dat Tim Story (Barbershop) de comic Fantastic Four gaat verfilmen. Vandaag sprak de regisseur en Marvel's Avi Arad
met Variety over het project:
"What attracted me was that they are a family," said Story, reached while scouting locations in Vancouver. "They might want to wring each others necks. They might storm out and disappear for three days, but you also know they'll be back. They don't always get along."
Marvel Enterprises CEO Avi Arad agreed, noting that because neither the characters' powers nor their identities are concealed, "Fantastic Four" offers far richer characters than the usual spandex-filled tales.
"Many times, you need a star to define the movie," Arad said. "That's not the case here. We can focus on getting the actors that are totally right for the roles."
Latino Review heeft ook casting nieuws, The Shield's Michael Chiklis
en Tim Robbins (Mystic River) worden benaderd voor de rollen van Ben Grimm/The Thing en Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic.

Tarantino talks Kill Bill Anime and... James Bond!?:
Pulp Fiction regisseur Quentin Tarantino sprak met Empire Online
over een Kill Bill spin-off:
"Yeah, I've been thinking about revisiting the story in a couple of ways. I've been thinking about doing it as an anime feature that would tell the entire origin of Bill."
Tarantino heeft al ervaring met deze Japanse tekenstijl, hij gebruikte namelijk manga in Kill Bill Vol. I.
De film bevat een geweldige flashback scène dat geheel in de stijl van de manga tekenfilms is gemaakt.
Ander Tarantino nieuws, Sci fi Wire
kreeg ook de kans om te babbelen met de regisseur en hij maakte bekend dat hij graag een James Bond film wilt maken.
Tarantino ziet het wel zitten om samen met Pierce Brosnan Casino Royale te verfilmen. Enige
probleem is om de producers Michael G. Wilson en Barbara Broccoli te overtuigen dat hij "the right guy for the job" is:
"I don't see that they have anything to lose at all. They've got this gigantic franchise, they can't do anything wrong with it. Pierce Brosnan's only going to do one more movie for them, if that, so if he stayed on to do one more with me, let's just this one year go my way and do it a little differently. I won't do anything that will ruin the series.
Tarantino hopes that the offer of a low budget and Brosnan's return would convince the producers to approve a one-time-only return to the character-driven spy plots of the first several 007 films. "Wouldn't it be great to have a James Bond movie that didn't cost $115 million and only cost $40 million or something like that?. You know it's going to make its money back, and we [would] all do good. Maybe we win the critics this time, then you're back in business the way you were before."
Dat zou geweldig zijn om een ander soort Bond-film te zien maar Tarantino liet wel even weten dat de kans erg klein is om zijn droom te verwezenlijken.

Chris Columbus likes Harry Potter 3!:
Regisseur Chris Columbus, verantwoordelijk voor de eerste twee Harry Potter films, is zeer tevreden over regisseur Alfonso Cuaron die het roer mocht overnemen met de derde film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban:
"In Azkaban, that kind of scene for me is the first attack on the train by the Dementors. It's such a beautifully directed scene that Alfonso has done. I remember that scene immensely. And there's also Harry's (Daniel Radcliffe) first ride on the hippogryph, which is just magical and poetic. Those are the two scenes that really stick with me. I keep thinking about those scenes constantly and [also about] how proud I am to be involved in them, but mostly how wonderful a job Alfonso has done as a director."

Doc Ock talks Spider-man2!!!:
Alfred Molina sprak met Sci fi Wire over zijn rol als Spidey's tegenstander Dock Ock! De site vroeg of hij een druk op zijn schouders voelde tijdens de produktie:
"The only pressure I felt was to do my job as best I could and to fulfil the character demands in the best way I could. Obviously, one is always aware what's going on and how big this project is. At one point over the summer we were occupying, I think, eight soundstages at Sony. That's a huge, huge amount of production. But in terms of how it's going to do at the box office, that's really a burden that the producers and the studio bear much more than anyone else. The rest of us just worried about doing our specific jobs as best we could and making as strong a Spider-Man film as possible.
I suspect that it's very, very good. The bits that I saw while we were shooting felt terrific. Some of the assemblies we looked at of the big sequences were very exciting, very detailed. I think that [director] Sam [Raimi] wanted to push the envelope a little bit in terms of the effects and also in terms of the storylines. He wanted this film to be more complex, more involved and more detailed so that the audience has a more satisfying experience."
Spider-Man 2 draait in Juni in de Nederlandse bioscopen, yeah!

U.S. Box Office Apr 02-04:
Hellboy versloeg Scooby en The Rock in de Amerikaanse Box Office. De comic-based film kwam
op nummer 1 binnen met $23 miljoen! The Rock's actie spektakel Walking Tall heeft het "okay" gedaan met
een tweede plaats. De nummer 1 van vorige week, Scooby-Doo 2, knalde naar een derde plaats.
Disney heeft de magic touch verloren, hun laatste animatie film Home on the Range kwam niet
verder dan de vierde plaats. Wat is er gebeurd met dit bedrijf, geen inspiratie meer om klassiekers te maken? Here's the rest of the Top Ten:

Yeah baby, Moviehole heeft nieuwe pics van Spider-man 2.

Casting News:
Hier weer een overzicht van de laatste casting ontwikkelingen:
 Willem Dafoe speelt tegenover Samuel L. Jackson en Ice Cube in xXx: State of the Union. Lee Tamahori (Die Another Day) gaat dit vervolg (zonder Diesel) regisseren.
Alecia Moore, beter bekend als zangeres Pink maakt haar debuut met de film over het leven van Joplin. Penelope Spheeris regisseert:"After trying to make a picture on Janis' life for 15 years, I'd call Alecia's screen test the most gratifying moment in my film career," vertelt Spheeris."She is the perfect age to play Janis from when she first came to California at 19 to when she died at 27."

Een geweldige en een foute poster zijn online verschenen...
We beginnen met de geweldige poster en die is van Troy, een groots opgezette film geheel in stijl van Gladiator.
In de hoofdrollen zien we Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom en Eric Bana. De film is geregisseerd door Wolfgang Petersen die ook Air Force One, Das Boot en
The Perfect Storm heeft gemaakt.
Dan de foute poster van de superhero flick Catwoman. Ik ben gek op Halle Berry maar ik haat the
catsuit! Het ziet er niet uit, aaaaaaarrrghhh!!! Ik heb een slecht gevoel over deze film, oordeel zelf en klik op de
poster voor een grote versie.

Dodgeball trailer!:

Het verhaal gaat over een stel losers die meedoen aan de Las Vegas Dodgeball Tournament met als doel om de lokale gym te redden. Een groot fitness bedrijf wilt de sportschool namelijk overnemen.
