Batman Begins update!:
Woohoo, ik heb weer een Batman Begins update! AICN
heeft meer info ontvangen over de Batmobile, over Chris Nolan die The French Connection gebruikt als inspiratie bron(!)
en David Goyer die de taak kreeg om hele grote actiescènes te creëren, go check it out:
The only view we got was a production design drawing(god knows how much that'll change) and it looked very much like a cross between the 'armadillo' from 'Armageddon' (except a LOT more low to the ground - like a Lamborghini) and the angular black paneling of a stealth bomber. (I'm sorry that i'm unable to provide the illustration but i only saw this promo reel once!) The wheels (there were 4) were positioned with 2 side by side in front of the grill and two larger wheels at the back.
Nolan said that 'the car chases will be very real and very much in the vein of 'The French Connection' and less in the studio bound style that we have come to expect'
David Goyer mentioned that for the first time in his career, he had penned HUGE action sequences and 'was told by Warner Bros. to 'make it bigger!'...sounds cool. He also said that in this story: 'fans will learn where the Batmobile comes from, where the Bat signal comes from, where the Bat costume comes from and where Batman's skills come from & who taught him'

Newsflash:
 Kevin Smith heeft een zeer positief gesprek gehad met Donnie Darko's Jake Gyllenhaal over The Green Hornet. Jake staat bij Smith boven aan het lijstje om de rol van deze superheld te spelen. Helaas zijn er nog geen officiële bevestigingen te vinden op het net maar ik hou je uiteraard op de hoogte!
CSI: Las Vegas, CSI: Miami en binnenkort CSI: New York! Yep, en het team van deze crime investigators wordt geleid door niemand minder dan Gary Sinise! De karakters van de spin-off serie zullen geïntroduceerd worden tijdens een aflevering van CSI: Miami, waar Lt. Horatio Cane (David Caruso) naar The Big Apple vertrekt om een moord te onderzoeken. Mijn favoriete serie is nog steeds CSI: Miami met Caruso als H. maar Sinise zal er ongetwijfeld ook iets moois van maken. What's next? CSI: Amsterdam?
Regisseur Robert Rodriquez heeft grote plannen voor zijn filmversie van Frank Miller's comic Sin City. Een lijst van mogelijke acteurs is online verschenen. Een gedeelte heeft inmiddels getekend een ander gedeelte wordt op dit moment benaderd voor verschillende rollen, check it out: Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood, Mickey Rourke, Brittany Murphy, Kate Bosworth and Jaime King! How cool is that!

Thunderbirds and Shark Tale posters:
Twee mooie nieuwe posters vandaag, we beginnen met een nieuwe poster van The Thunderbirds (dat overigens
vorige week een hele negatieve recensie heeft ontvangen). De film is geregisseerd door Jonathan Frakes en de
cast bestaat uit Bill Paxton, Anthony Edwards, Sophia Myles, Brady Corbet, Soren Fulton, Vanessa Hudgens en
Ben Kingsley.
In de film volgen we de familie Tracy en hun geheime organisatie, International Rescue. Het is 2010. Na een ramp te hebben voorkomen met een booreiland, keren de Thunderbirds terug naar hun geheime basis. Daar blijkt dat het ruimtestation (Thunderbird 5) zwaar beschadigd is, wat waarschijnlijk veroorzaakt is door een meteoriet. Wat ze echter niet weten is dat het helemaal geen ongeluk is maar een aanval van de internationale crimineel "Hood". Hij wilt het eiland overnemen en de geniale "Brains" gebruiken voor zijn eigen plannetjes.
De tweede poster is van de Dreamworks tekenfilm Shark Tale. Will Smith leent zijn stem voor Oscar, een klein
visje met grote dromen. Het visje wordt door een duiker gevangen met als gevolg dat zijn vader een grote speurtocht
begint om zijn zoontje te vinden... ehh.. volgens mij is dat weer een andere film. Anyway, de rest van cast bestaat
uit Robert de Niro, Renée Zellweger, Angelina Jolie, Jack Black en Martin Scorsese!

Zack Snyder talks Dawn of the Dead:
Regisseur Zack Snyder sprak over zijn remake van de zombie classic Dawn of the Dead. Hij vertelde
o.a. over het gebruik van old school special effects, Sci-fi Wire
heeft het volgende op de site geplaatst:
Zack Snyder, director of the updated Dawn of the Dead movie, told reporters that his remake of the 1979 George Romero classic would feature many of the same kinds of effects as the original film. "I think the great thing about the movie is that it really is a makeup-effects movie," Snyder said in a news conference. "It's not a movie that relies on [computer graphics] or, you know, cutting-edge, state-of-the-art visual effects to render it."
Snyder said that some digital effects work was necessary to create the zombie throngs that gather around the protagonists' shopping-mall refuge. But overall, few scenes benefited from the use of computers. "There are scenes in the movie with a multitude of zombies, if you will, and that had to be done using a computer," he said. "But other than that, it was really just sort of using the makeup effects and appliances to kind of go old school with the zombies."

Spielberg, Cruise and The War of the Worlds!:
Steven Spielberg en Tom Cruise gaan hun krachten bundelen om een nieuwe versie van The War of the Worlds
te maken. Spielberg gaat de film regisseren, het is nog niet helemaal zeker of Cruise de hoofdrol zal spelen.
Cruise's produktie bedrijf is al enkele jaren bezig om het beroemde verhaal van H.G. Wells te verfilmen. David Koepp
(Jurassic Park, Spider-man) zal het script herschrijven. Ik ben benieuwd of Spielberg nog tijd heeft om Indy IV te maken...

Clooney is Magnum P.I.?!:
Het schijnt dat George Clooney in de laatste fase van onderhandelingen zit om de de hoofdrol te spelen in Magnum P.I. volgens Yahoo! Movies.
LL Cool J zal misschien de rol van de helicopter piloot T.C. op zich nemen. Welke acteurs gevraagd worden
voor Rick en Higgins is niet bekend.

New Punisher website:
Een nieuwe Punisher website is nu online met veel goodies, pics en wallpapers. De site heeft
ook gedetailleerde informatie geplaatst over de main character Frank Castle a.k.a The Punisher (gespeeld door Thomas Jane):

U.S. Box Office Mar 12-14:
Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ staat nog steeds op nummer 1 in de Amerikaanse Box Office.
Johnny Depp's thriller Secret Window doet het ook prima met een tweede plaats. Here's the rest of the top ten:

Newsflash:
Een mooie nieuwe poster van Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is nu online. Klik op de jonge tovenaar voor een grote versie.
New Line is druk bezig met het ontwikkelen van Money Talks 2 en Rush Hour 3 voor Chris Tucker. De vorige delen waren geregisseerd door Brett Ratner maar het is nog niet zeker of hij ook de nieuwe films zal regisseren. Charlie Sheen wordt benaderd om weer zijn rol op te pakken die hij in Money Talks speelde. Source: Variety.
Gabriel Byrne en Brian Dennehy zijn toegevoegd aan de cast van Assault on Precinct 13. De rest van de cast bestaat uit Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, Maria Bello en John Leguizamo. I, Robot Trailer:
Wow, check out this beauty! De indrukwekkende trailer van I, Robot is nu online. Het verhaal
speelt zich af in 2035 waar een cop een moord moet oplossen dat gepleegd is door een robot. Hij komt erachter
dat de misdaad een voorbode is op iets groots en invloed kan hebben op het bestaan van de mens. Will Smith speelt
de hoofdrol in een film geregisseerd door Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City). Klik op de pic om de trailer

Star Wars Episode III update:
Producer Rick McCallum gaf weer een Episode III update via de Official Site.
De komende maanden staan er een paar re-shoots gepland en Rick vertelde ook iets over de nieuwe bad guy van de film General Grievous.
De site vermeldt het volgende:
By now, the public has been introduced to General Grievous, the deadly leader of the Separatist army. Though he makes his cartoon debut next month in the Star Wars: Clone Wars micro-series, he still has a long way to go for his film incarnation. "The wireframe model has been built and approved, and now we are starting modeling and animating him," says McCallum.
Grievous has yet to be placed into any shots, and who will provide the voice of the menacing General has yet to be determined. "We haven't even looked for him yet," says McCallum. "There's still a long way to go. Voice-work for Grievous and other characters isn't likely to begin until August or November."

Eindelijk spreekt regisseur David Twohy over zijn sci-fi epic de Pitch Black prequel The Chronicles of Riddick met in de hoofdrol

Where do the origins of "The Chronicles of Riddick" come from?
I did not like the sequel idea the studio offered to me. I said to them: "If you want to develop his story, you have to make it more ambitious." So I offered them the idea to develop a trilogy around Riddick, Vin Diesel's character, so this way TCOR would be the first part. In case of success, we will do C-2 and C-3 (the code name for the two sequels after TCOR), just like Peter Jackson did LOTR, doing the two movies during one shooting. The idea was if I spent a certain part of my life on a project, it had to be the richest and most ambitious as possible. When Universal saw the success of LOTR, they happily accepted my idea.
Riddick is a bad man, a murderer. How can you build a gigantic movie around such a troublemaker character?
Exactly that's what I love in this movie. Riddick is an anti-hero. He is not the glorious type who confronts the difficulties with positivity. He carries a very negative vision on the world and the people with himself. I don't want to glorify him, and exactly that's what was hard to make the studio understand. In reality, we see the other Star Wars, TCOR won't be manichean with the Good against the Bad. This movie is less schematic. The hero is a murderer, but within the negative dimension, you will realise, there's good within him. Also, this movie follows the path of Pitch Black, where all the characters had a double edge. This movie is too controversial, too cool for an expensive film.
It seems like Riddick has "primitive powers", so they say?
This movie will uncover the origins of Riddick, and the viewers will realise that he is not a normal man. You will better understand how is he changing. Riddick is much more than you can believe. You will explore the new powers and forces within him. The movie will follow him towards countless universes, battling with the enemies. But TCOR is also about spiritualism. There will many theological references, even if I am agonistic. But religion and the way they practice it, interest me a lot.
In sci-films, it's obligatory to shoot a space ship battle scene?
So we have one. But ours is set in the sky, in the night. If you want a reference what you can see, imagine the aero battles during the war in Iraq,but in the future.

Johnny Depp sprak met MTV over zijn volgende film, een remake van Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
geregisseerd door niemand minder dan Tim Burton:
"It's Tim's version of Roald Dahl's classic book and it's gonna be a wild ride. Tim and I have had a couple of meetings, sat down and had some talks about where he wants to go, where we need to go. And I think it's gonna be great, you know? Big shoes [to fill], though. Gene Wilder did such an awesome job in that film in the early '70s, so I mean, taking that character of Willy Wonka and going somewhere completely different is ... he sort of made the job infinitely more difficult for me".

First Man-Thing pic!:
Comixfan heeft als eerste een
exclusieve foto van Man-Thing ontvangen. "Directed by effects pioneer Brett Leonard (The Lawnmower Man, Virtuosity), Man-Thing was adapted by screenwriter Hans Rodionoff from the cult comic book series that was first published by Marvel in 1971. The film was shot completely on location in Sydney, Australia.
The Man-Thing character is described as a vengeful creature born from the evil and injustices perpetrated against both man and nature."

Bale to beefy for the Batsuit!:
Vaste lezers weten dat ik gek ben op een good ol' Batman Begins gossip! Het schijnt dat Christian Bale
te groot wordt voor de Batsuit. Enkele weken geleden was al op een foto te zien dat Bale behoorlijk hard aan
het trainen is voor de rol. Waarschijnlijk is die niet meer te stoppen.
The BBC vermeldt
het volgende:
"It looks like Batman needs a new tailor after Christian Bale ripped his skin-tight caped crusader suit.
The Welsh actor beefed up for the role in 'Batman Begins', but it looks like he bulked up too much - stories from the set say he ripped the first rubber costume and it took three crew members and a bottle of talcum powder to squeeze him into a second one."
