Newsflash:
Hi guys, lekker sappig filmnieuws om de week af te sluiten. Volgende update is in het weekend:
 Scrubs ster Zach Braff maakte een indrukwekkend regiedebuut met de komedie Garden State. Zijn volgende film wordt een remake van de Deense film Open Hearts. Het verhaal gaat over een vrouw die instort na een ongeluk waarbij haar verloofde verlamd raakt. Source: Variety
John Cusack vertolkt de hoofdrol in de independent drama Grace is Gone. Cusack speelt een vader wiens vrouw is omgekomen tijdens een missie in Irak. Hij besluit om een roadtrip te maken met zijn dochters. Source: Variety
"Witness Superman using his super powers to save Metropolis from Metallo, one of many classic super villains in Superman Returns: The Videogame. Inspired by the upcoming Warner Bros. En nog meer superheldennieuws vandaag, de 'official synopsis' van X-Men: The Last Stand is bekend gemaakt. Het verhaal is veelbelovend, check this out:
"In X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, the final chapter in the "X-Men" motion picture trilogy, a "cure" for mutancy threatens to alter the course of history. For the first time, mutants have a choice: retain their uniqueness, though it isolates and alienates them, or give up their powers and become human. The opposing viewpoints of mutant leaders Charles Xavier, who preaches tolerance, and Magneto, who believes in the survival of the fittest, are put to the ultimate test - triggering the war to end all wars."

Joel Silver talks future projects:
The uber-producer Joel Silver is verantwoordelijk voor veel, heel veel classic action vehicles, waaronder Commando, Predator, Lethal Weapon serie, The Matrix trilogy en binnenkort de sci-fi film V for Vendetta.
Silver laat weten wat we in de toekomst van hem kunnen verwachten.
The Reaping: "The next one up is The Reaping, with Hilary Swank and directed by Stephen Hopkins, which is kind of a supernatural thriller and that will be out in the summer."
The Visiting: "That's with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig, and it's directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, a German making his English language debut."
Logan's Run and Wonder Woman: "Those pictures are very active. Logan's, we're trying to put that together now. That will hopefully go in the fall, with Superman Returns helmer Bryan Singer directing it. And Serenity director Joss Whedon is writing Wonder Woman. Hopefully, we'll have a script very soon on Wonder Woman. I want to make that, too."

James Cameron talks!:
Regisseur James Cameron sprak met AICN over de nieuwe films die hij aan het voorbereiden is en een 3D techniek die hij hiervoor wilt gebruiken, here's a clip:

Now he still doesn't know if it is going to be BATTLE ANGEL ALITA or AVATAR that comes next. You see deep within the N.S.A. like security of LIGHTSTORM, Jim has been constructing a Virtual Production Studio completely unlike anything anyone has ever seen before. Within that space are two separate teams concurrently prepping and getting ready to shoot back to back essentially over a 3 year span, BATTLE ANGEL ALITA and AVATAR.
Why the back and forth? It isn't because he's trying to drive us crazy, it's because he is so in love with both projects that he can't just emotionally choose one over the other.

Casting update:
Geen bijzonder nieuws vandaag dus een mooi moment om jullie op de hoogte te brengen van het laatste casting nieuws, enjoy!:
Wedding Crasher regisseur David Dobkin en Vince Vaughn werken weer samen aan een nieuwe komedie met de titel Fred Claus. Vaughn speelt de rol van Santa's loser brother.
Steven Strait (Sky High) en Camilla Belle (When a Stranger Calls) spelen oermensen in Roland Emmerich's historisch epos 10,000 B.C. De film vertelt het verhaal van een primitieve stam dat jacht maakt op mammoeten.
Monster's Ball producer Lee Daniels heeft Mariah Carey gevraagd om de hoofdrol te vertolken in Tennessee. Carey speelt een serveerster die met haar twee broers besluit om hun biologische vader op te sporen.
Dominic Purcell (Dracula in Blade Trinity) en Orlando Jones maken jacht op een legendarische reuzenkrokodil (dat ook nog van mensenvlees houdt) in de thriller Primeval.

Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion, het vervolg op de Amerikaanse surprise hit Diary of a Mad Black Woman, kwam op de eerste plaats binnen! De andere nieuwkomers, animatiefilm Doogal en Paul Walker's Running Scared,

Schwarzenegger still in Conan?:
Veel fans hopen dat Arnold Schwarzenegger niet opnieuw wordt gekozen tot Governor of California. Waarom? Omdat de kans groot is dat de voormalige actiester zijn zwaard zal
grijpen voor een nieuw Conan avontuur... zelfs Warner Bros is bereid om een groot bedrag op tafel te gooien. Een betrouwbare bron van TheArnoldFans.com leverde de volgende informatie:
"I can't say much but Jeff Robinov (president of the WB film division) is definitely hoping that Arnold looses the race for a 2nd term as governor so he can make his place back into feature films with King Conan. The film might not even be called King Conan anymore and instead go back to Conan the Conqueror. The title King Conan sounds like a finale and that's not what Warner Bros wants.
If Arnold looses the next term, WB wants the new Conan epic shooting on a grueling gorilla schedule around the clock starting March 2007 for a December 2007 release date. If Spielberg can do it for War of the Worlds it can be done."
Heel cool, hopelijk is regisseur John Milius ook weer van de partij, I'll keep you posted.

Superman Returns footage description:
Superman Returns regisseur Bryan Singer presenteerde exclusieve beelden van de ultimate-superhero-flick aan een paar journalisten uit Maleisië (of all places)! Here's a clip:
"You want to see more? Maybe I should show you ... nah, maybe not," Bryan Singer teased. Pause. "Oh, why not," he said as he dragged the mouse looking for another scene. He obviously knew what he was looking for. We, on the other hand, didn't know what else was in store.
We heard a click only to see something flying across the screen. It wasn't a bird, but it sure was a plane ... heading to crash into a baseball field.
The look of horror on the faces of the people sitting in the stands was priceless (again, not unlike ours) until a swoosh flashed across the screen and something in blue and red grabbed hold of the nose of the plane and tried to slow it down as it dove towards the pitch. Would it crash?
Singer stopped the footage just before we could see if Superman had indeed saved the day.

Joaquin Phoenix gaat de hoofdrol vertolken in John Singleton's Without Remorse. De film is gebaseerd op Tom Clancy's boek over Navy Seal Commando John Kelly a.k.a. Mr. Clark. Willem Dafoe speelde eerder Mr. Clark in Clear and Present Danger en Liev Schreiber deed dat in Sum Of All Fears. Ik heb de boeken nooit gelezen maar ben een grote liefhebber van de Clancy films! Oh boy, de eerste foto van onze muurkruiper is verschenen op de official site! De website vermeldt het volgende: "The artwork is NOT in black and white, yes that is Spidey in a black costume - and we all know what happens with Spider-Man's black costume."
