Michael Bay talks The Island:
Uber-director Michael Bay (Bad Boys 2) talked about his latest flick, sci-fi thriller The Island.
The story revolves around the cloning of humans for spare parts. "This is very simple," Bay said, "It's about humans ... that want to live longer. ... This is the slaughterhouse. We all eat meat. We don't want to see what goes on in the slaughterhouse. So to me, it's got a real basic human thing. Everyone in our audience or in the world would want to live longer if they could, you know? And that's what this is about. And it's... the extent to which you go to achieve that.
this is not a movie about making your own sci-fi world, because everything has been done so much. What's interesting to me about this movie, it's got a whole humanistic aspect. Some sci-fi movies to me are about a bunch of mumbo jumbo, you know what I mean? Sometimes I can't even figure out what Star Wars is about, you know? I mean, with the Senate and I don't know, I get lost."
I confess, I love Bay's slick, explosive action flicks, can't wait to see this one. The movie stars Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson and hits theatres this summer.

Newsflash:
Actor-turned-director Peter Berg talks about his latest project, Splinter Cell, the big screen version of the Tom Clancy videogame; "It's going excellent, J.T is doing the weight of the writing on it, but I'm going to take all the credit. I'm a big fan of that kind of story. I love secret-agent books - I love "Bourne" (Identity) - with missions, and kidnappings, executions and assassinations. I read books like, all the Ludlum books, I like the Alistair MacLaine books like Guns of Navarone…. I just like that kind of stuff." Berg is keen to mould a good actor into a hunky action star, like Thomas Jane, Eric Bana or Kurt Russell. But Berg says it's too early to decide who should play the role. Source: Moviehole
The official site for the crime fighting chicks flick, D.E.B.S, is now online.
Coming soon... Face/Off 2? Yep, screenwriter Mike Werb is in talks with John Woo about writing a follow-up. "Initially, it was just a similiar idea," Mike says, "Then we decided we might as well make it a sequel, not a direct sequel, but a sequel all the same. Imagine two females in the Nic and John roles and we're bound for a good time." He also suggested that Angelina Jolie would be great for one of the leading roles. My advice, don't make the sequel, Mike! Source: Screenwriting Magazine
Scrubs star Zach Braff is director Kevin Smith's top choice for the role of Fletch in Miramax's Fletch Won. Chevy Chase played the lead in the previous films, Fletch and Fletch Lives (why don't you ask him back?). Source: Viewaskew.com

George Lucas talks Episode III and future projects:
George Lucas gives an update on Revenge of the Sith and also talks about what he's doing next!
"The film is finished, basically," says Lucas about Episode III, "we just finished the music last week, and I'm going to mix it next week. In a month, it will be pretty much finished. We're getting very close now, but we're still working away like crazy. It's hard to stand up, breathe and realize it's all coming to an end."
So what's next, after Star Wars? "I'm going to produce a film called Red Tails," reveals George, "about black fighter pilots during World War II. I'm going to produce a couple TV shows, then I'll think about when I'll direct again."
And that means that Indiana Jones IV is still on hold. George Lucas first wants to get the script right; "We're working on scripts but we're not going to do it until we get a script we're happy with. Indiana Jones IV should be a movie that moves forward, is entertaining, and has an interesting story to tell."

Bryan Singer talks Superman!:
The guys over at Supermanhomepage got the chance to chat with Superman director Bryan Singer!
Here's a clip, click on the above link for more:
Now Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth... Lois Lane and Clark Kent... I believe the chemistry between them is why you cast Kate?
Yeah, I read Kate with Brandon, and they were really terrific together. And she was great. I met her through Kevin Spacey's film "Beyond the Sea".
Okay. I thought Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor was excellent casting. He's perfect for the role.
Oh yeah. I'm looking forward to that. I mean we haven't worked together in 10 years so it'll be fun.
Fantastic. Now Clark Kent - Bumbling fool or confident?
He's playing the role of a bumbling fool, but he's not, that's just a role.
Okay, fantastic. Now the costume? Classic?
Classic.
Classic. With hinting as far as like the Spider-man costume?
It'll be contemporary but classic in its design.
Now why choose Superman over X-Men 3?
Just the timing. The availability of Superman. My fanship for Superman.

Trailers galore!:
A bunch of new trailers hit the web! Here's a rundown, starting off with my favorite, enjoy;
Ryan Reynolds (Blade Trinity) and Melissa George star in the remake of the horror classic The Amityville Horror. Michael Bay, who also delivered The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, produced The Amityville Horror.
Check out Paul Walker, Jessica Alba, Ashley Scott, Scott Caan and Josh Brolin in the action-thriller Into the Blue.
I like the look of this one, reminded me a bit of Boogie Nights, Bow Bow stars opposite Nick Cannon, Chi McBride and Charlie Murphy in the roller-skate flick Roll Bounce.
Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon team up in Farrelly Brother's comedy Fever Pitch.
Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon and Ryan Phillippe star in the drama-thriller Crash.

Colin Farrell is Sonny Crocket:
Oh my, the first pics of Colin Farrell as Sonny Crocket are online! Farrell joins Jamie Foxx (as Ricardo Tubbs) in Michael Mann's Miami Vice remake.
Word on the street is that the movie will be grittier than the TV series, I'm very curious about this one. Colin Farrell looks pretty cool, don't you think? Click for a lot more!

James Bond Casino Royale update:
Here's an update on the latest James Bond flick. Director Martin Campbell (Goldeneye) will bring
Ian Flemming's first James Bond novel, Casino Royale, to the big screen.
"There are things that will have to be changed from the original novel," says Campbell. "The Cold War elements will have to be reconfigured, for example, but 'Casino Royale' will be a grittier, tougher and more realistic Bond movie. We'll be getting away from the huge visual effects kind of film. In the new film, Bond is essentially starting out in his career, and has just recently become part of the double-0 section. The idea is to put a bit of the dash back in Bond. By the end of the movie, the character will have been forged into the wiser, harder Bond we know."
Sounds very interesting and makes me wonder how Quentin Tarantino's take on Bond would be. Tarantino pitched the idea of Casino Royale and wanted to direct it but the producers weren't interested.
There's also more 007 casting news. Nip/Tuck's Julian McMahon is one of two frontrunners for the role; "I'm a big James Bond fan. I met the producers for a final audition. They told me to expect a decision in a couple of months and they said it was between me and one other person. It's going to be a very nervous wait."
The other frontrunner seems to be Clive Owen (King Arthur). I prefer McMahon...

Rocky 6, Rambo 4...:
Stallone's Rocky 6 project will take shape faster than you can say "Adriaaan". Sony and MGM are impressed with Stallone's Rocky 6 script and vision and the movie can be made on a budget of $20 million.
Expect a different Rocky film with a gritty feel like Raging Bull with the emphasis on realism and characterisation. People will be shocked at just how dark and real the script is, according to insiders, and that it could be filmed with a shaky camera style like The Bourne Supremacy.
Other Stallone sequel news, the script for Rambo 4 is completed but Stallone needs to find a studio who's willing to deliver the money.
