Newsflash:
En daar is de tweede Newsflash van deze week met geweldig Batman nieuws om het weekend goed te beginnen, enjoy!:
 Liam Neeson en Morgan Freeman zijn toegevoegd aan de cast van Chris Nolan's Batman film! Liam Neeson kruipt hoogstwaarschijnlijk in de huid van de schurk Ra's al Ghul (zie foto). Freeman zal de rol van Lucius Fox (directie van Wayne Enterprises) vertolken. Source: Variety
Regisseur Rob Bowman (Reign of Fire, The X-Files: Fight the Future) wordt benaderd om de Daredevil spin-off Elektra te filmen. Jennifer Garner speelt wederom de rol van de comicbook character en Mark Steven Johnson en Gary Foster treden op als producers. Source: Variety

Newsflash:
Kleine maar interessante headlines in de nieuwsflits van vandaag:
The official Spider-man 2 site is vernieuwd met mooie foto's! Klik op Doc Ock om naar de site te gaan.
Michael Patrick King, regisseur en schrijver van de hit serie Sex and the City, is een script aan het schrijven voor een bioscoop versie! Er wordt druk onderhandeld om de volledige cast Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis en Kim Cattrall te gebruiken voor de film.
Kevin Smith (Chasing Amy) schrijft op dit moment het script voor The Green Hornet! Jawel, een remake van de actieserie over de gemaskerde held met zijn trouwe sidekick Kato. Smith zal The Green Hornet ook regisseren en is van plan om eind deze zomer te beginnen met filmen: "I dig the fact that he kicked off a run of billionaire playboys who decided to put on a mask and fight crime, and that he was Batman before there was a Batman."
Peter Segal gaat voor de derde keer samenwerken met Adam Sandler. Segal heeft ook Anger Management en 50 First Dates geregisseerd en gaat nu een remake maken van The Longest Yard. Burt Reynolds speelde de rol van een quarterback in de originele versie, die een stel gedetineerden moet trainen voor een American football game tegen de gevangenisbewaarders. Sandler speelt naast Chris Rock en Snoop Dogg de hoofdrol.

Riddick update!:
Scifi Wire sprak met Alexa Davalos
over haar rol als Kyra in de Vin Diesel spektakel The Chronicles of Riddick. Ze speelt een volwassen
versie van Jack, het meisje dat zich verkleedde als jongen in de vorige "Riddick" film Pitch Black:
"I think she's grown up and really come to fight for herself and understand herself a bit more," Davalos said in an interview. "I think she's evolved quite a bit, and yet has a lot of Jack inside of her."
Ze vertelde het volgende over de actie in de film:
"Lots of stunt work. Lots of fighting. Lots of weapons. ... Kyra actually carries a very small knife in her mouth, which has been a large part of my training process, actually being able to maneuver this very sharp object in my mouth."

The End of Superman?:
This project is cursed! Superman V heeft een aantal feiten in handen gekregen over de Superman film:
"A few weeks ago we told you how WB had booked the Fox Studios in Sydney. The project would move full speed ahead and relocate to Australia. S-V now have the latest update and it isn't looking good.
Mark Mansbridge (Art Director) has left the project. More worryingly, Duncan Henderson (Producer) is gone and Owen Paterson (Production Designer) may have as well. Word is Paterson has left the production in LA and gone home to Australia. We hope to bring you confirmation on Paterson soon. We can tell you that Kym Barrett, who worked with Paterson on The Matrix hasn't gone and is still Costume Designer.
These departures are due to the project being shut down. The script is also going to undergo yet more rewrites and these rewrites are said to be MAJOR. WB are also debating whether to move the whole production to Australia."
Andere sites vermelden dat McG nog betrokken is als regisseur maar ik heb een vermoeden dat hij ook het project verlaat. Laten we hopen dat Batman: Intimidation een groot
succes zal worden en WB groenlicht geeft voor het Batman vs. Superman project!

Scooby-Doo 2 update:
Writer/producer James Gunn sprak met Moviehole over Scooby-Doo 2!:
"It [Scooby Doo 2] is sleeker, faster, and furrier. The cast were much more comfortable with their roles, and have all upped their game. Raja was much more confidant, which shows up on screen. The movie is a lot more character-oriented, actually. The studio was a little freaked out when they first saw it - in a good way...it is a lot different from the first movie. The mystery is much more of a mystery - in the last movie we had one real suspect, and then a couple of faux suspects. In this movie we have at least four real suspects.
Oh yeah, and the action - there are many bigger, more fun action sequences in this movie. We have a great sequence with Scooby and Shaggy dirt-boarding down the side of a mountain on trash can lids, followed by a couple of skeleton men with eyeballs for heads. We also have a great sequence with the Pterodactyl Ghost chasing the Mystery Machine through the city streets of Coolsville."
Zoinks! Lijkt me geweldig, hoe slecht de film ook wordt, Scooby steelt altijd de show, toch?

Mel Gibson talks The Passion of Christ!:
ABC News
heeft een interessant interview gehad met Mel Gibson die openlijk praatte over zijn alcohol en drugs verslaving en
zijn overweging om zelfmoord te plegen. Gelukkig vond hij de kracht om zijn leven op het rechte pad te krijgen
met de hulp van... de Bijbel. De situatie inspireerde hem om de controversiële film The Passion of Christ te maken.
Hieronder een aantal fragmenten uit het interview:
At "the height of spiritual bankruptcy" more than a decade ago, abusing alcohol and drugs, the actor Mel Gibson said he once contemplated hurling himself out a window.
But instead, he turned to the Bible, which ultimately inspired him to direct his new movie, The Passion of the Christ.
"I think I just hit my knees," Gibson told Diane Sawyer in an exclusive interview on ABCNEWS' Primetime. "I just said, 'Help.' You know? And then, I began to meditate on it, and that's in the Gospel. I read all those again. I remember reading bits of them when I was younger."
"Pain is the precursor to change, which is great," Gibson said. "That's the good news."
"Critics who have a problem with me don't really have a problem with me in this film," Gibson said. "They have a problem with the four Gospels. That's where their problem is."
The Passion of Christ opent eind deze maand in de Amerikaanse bioscopen, ben zeer benieuwd hoe
het publiek op de film reageert.

Frank Darabont talks rejected Indiana IV script!:
Frank Darabont, regisseur van de geweldige Shawshank Redemption en The Green Mile, heeft de afgelopen maanden hard
gewerkt aan het script van de nieuwe Indiana Jones film. Helaas werd vorige week bekend dat
George Lucas niet tevreden is over het script en nieuwe schrijvers in dienst neemt om het te veranderen. Frank Darabont
geeft een uitleg over de hele situatie:
"The short and simple version of the Indiana Jones 4 situation is that after more than a year of working closely with Steven Spielberg developing the story, I had completed a screenplay that Steven loved and was hoping to shoot in July of this year. However, George Lucas had issues with the script and slammed on the brakes in order to rework the material himself. There is talk of enlisting another writer. Given that George is the producer, but even moreso because of their long and close friendship, Steven is deferring to George in this situation.
It is now up to them to try to find a common ground regarding the film. I wish them luck and hope their efforts result in something they're both excited about shooting. What, if anything, might remain of my work at the end of the process is anybody's guess, assuming the film even gets made at this point. As for me, I'm disappointed, but I'm putting the experience behind me and moving on with my life and my own projects."
Heel jammer, Frank, de kans is groot dat Indiana Jones het grote doek niet meer zal zien...

Star Wars Episode III cool update!!!:
Dreamwatch heeft een interview gepubliceerd met fight co-ordinator Nick Gillard die de stunts verzorgde
voor de Star Wars prequels. Hij vertelde Dreamwatch iets meer over de zwaardgevechten in Episode III:
"Episode III has got everything the other films had and more! The movie is 60 to 70 per cent fighting. Ewan [McGregor, Obi-Wan Kenobi] had 1,000 moves to learn, as opposed to the three pages he had to learn in The Phantom Menace. There's tons of fighting in this one".
En wat kunnen we verwachten van the end fight?:
"It's a monster of a sequence, I had a couple of years to think about it and think about what George [Lucas, writer/director] had told me about it, and it was daunting because I knew how important that sequence is. I spent probably a year deconstructing the Jedi style of fighting to make it work. I had Hayden with me eight weeks before we started shooting it and I had Ewan six weeks, which wasn't really enough time, so we often had to rehearse at weekends during the filming.
Episode III also ties in beautifully with all the other movies. And when I read the script, I was really surprised by how emotional it is." "Everyone working on the film took so much care with it," he states. "Nobody wants to get it wrong."

Scorcese directs Infernal Affairs?:
Volgens Variety gaat Martin Scorcese waarschijnlijk een remake
regisseren van de Hong Kong politie thriller Infernal Affairs. De film vertelt het verhaal van twee
"moles", één in een gangster organisatie, de ander bij de politie. Brad Pitt overweegt om de hoofdrol op zich
te nemen.
Ik heb de originele Chinese versie vele malen gezien en het lijkt me moeilijk om deze te overtreffen met een
"Amerikaanse" versie.

No Lethal Weapon 5 and Mad Max 4?:
Mel Gibson laat Movie Hole weten dat hij
niet geïnteresseerd is in een nieuwe Lethal Weapon of Mad Max film:
He laughs when asked how much money he still gets offered for a new "Lethal Weapon". "Ah, good question. I'm too old and I can't deal with the action stuff anymore."
That also tends to rule out the much delayed Mad Max 4. "It's getting to the point where they'll start calling it Fat Max," but hopes, at the very least, to work again with Weir and Miller. "Those guys are masters so of course I'd love to work with them again. The trouble is, will they want me?"

over de verhaallijn van Steve Martin's Pink Panther film:
The title of the film is officially "The Mask of The Pink Panther" and it is not a prequel or a remake. This is the tenth film in the franchise and it has a contemporary setting.
Here's the plot: Inspector Clouseau (Steve Martin) is a brilliant detective. He's also arrogant, disastrously clumsy, and very lucky that the mayhem he creates never harms himself. His late father's claim to fame was having recovered the treasured Pink Panther diamond several times during his career but, thus far, the current Inspector Clouseau has never been able to distinguish himself in a similar fashion.
De site vermeldt verder dat Steve Martin zijn haar zwart zal verfen en de herkenbare Clouseau moustache zal dragen!
