Richard Donner's Superman II cut?!!!:
Veel cool nieuws vandaag, guys! Ik ben dit weekend weer terug met een nieuwe update. Lets kick-off with some good ol' Superman news.
Richard Donner, regisseur van de eerste Superman film en de Lethal Weapon serie, sprak over een DVD release van zijn cut van Superman II dat oorspronkelijk werd geregisseerd door Richard Lester.
Donner legt uit;
"You know they're also re-releasing Superman II with my version. We're re-doing it and all the stuff that Richard Lester took out of mine, we're putting back in.
...All my stuff was laying in the vaults and there was a young editor named Michael Thor who came to me one day and said "Listen if you go on the internet everybody wants to see your version of II" and I said "I don't think it exists, there were cans," we were doing one and two at the same time. And we had to stop doing two to deliver one on time, so we did everything with Brando anyway, everything we remembered, so he called and said the studio gave me the go. Now they've reprinted all the material, they've shipped all the negatives from England and he's recutting my picture and again, he's asked me would I help. I can't because it's so long ago and the little bit of footage that I looked at, I would never shoot like that now in a million years, I mean it was a different way, a different style, different interpretation."
Fantastisch! Richard Donner's Superman II cut wordt waarschijnlijk uitgebracht vlak voor de release van Superman Returns.

Dark Crystal 2 update!:
Interessant nieuws dat ik gisteren vergeten was te plaatsen, Genndy Tartakovsky, bedenker van Samurai Jack, Dexter's Laboratory en Star Wars: Clone Wars, gaat Power of the Dark Crystal regisseren!
Het vervolg op de puppet flick uit 1982, vindt plaats honderden jaren na de eerste film en vertelt het verhaal van een mysterieus vuurmeisje die een kristal steelt om een stervende zon een nieuw leven te geven.

Bump and Grind:
De productie van de Quentin Tarantino en Robert Rodriguez horrorfilm Grind (voormalige titel was Grind House) gaat de komende weken beginnen.
Rodriguez's deel, Planet Terror, wordt een zombie flick, terwijl Tarantino's helft, Death Proof, een ouderwetse slasher-film wordt.
Wat het project cool maakt, is dat halverwege de film nep-trailers worden vertoond die de regisseurs hebben gecreëerd. Een van de trailers krijgt de titel Cowgirls in Sweden!

Narnia returns:
Goed nieuws voor de Chronicles of Narnia fans, het vervolg The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, zit nu officieel in de pre-productie fase.
Regisseur Andrew Adamson en de originele cast en crew hebben getekend voor het tweede deel. Adamson vertelt het volgende:
"Making The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe couldn't have been a more rewarding experience, not just in terms of creative achievement and audience response, but also because of the family we formed during production. Prince Caspian not only gives me an opportunity to challenge my imagination with another classic story, it also allows me to work alongside the many talented artists who contributed to the first film, and of course to collaborate again with 'The Pevensies,' Georgie, Skandar, Anna, and William."

78th Annual Academy Awards Nominations:
The nominations are in! Brokeback Mountain maakt kans op maar liefst acht gouden beeldjes; best actor in a leading and supporting role, best actress in a supporting role, best cinematography, best director, best score, best adapted screenplay en best picture... wow!
Gelukkig maakt A History of Violence en de indrukwekkende Good Night, and Good Luck ook kans op één van de beeldjes!

Casting update:
Twee interessante casting updates vandaag, Drew Barrymore en Hugh Grant zijn te zien in de romantische komedie Music and Lyrics By. Het verhaal gaat over een romance tussen een lyrics writer en een music writer-performer. Jammer dat Adam Sandler niet de mannelijke hoofdrol speelt...
Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow, Crash) speelt tegenover Jodie Foster in de revenge thriller The Brave One. Foster speelt een vrouw die op oorlogspad gaat nadat ze herstelt is van een gewelddadige aanval. Joel Silver zal de film produceren, Neil Jordan wordt getipt om te regisseren.

Newsflash:
 McG (Charlie's Angels) gaat een American football drama regisseren. De film vertelt het verhaal van een planecrash in 1970 waarbij een groot deel van de Marshall U. football team om het leven kwam. Matthew McConaughey is te zien in een hoofdrol.
Andy Serkis is toegevoegd aan de cast van Christopher Nolan's The Prestige. De andere rollen worden vertolkt door Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson en David Bowie.
Julia Ormond gaat een bijrol spelen in Steven Soderbergh's Che. Benicio Del Toro vertolkt de rol van deze Latijns Amerikaanse revolutionair.

Hi guys, na een koude nacht, lekkere warme Hollywood newsbits, fijn weekend!:
Val Kilmer en regisseur Tony Scott werken eindelijk weer samen sinds Top Gun, de film die voor beide heren de grote doorbraak betekende. Kilmer vergezelt Denzel Washington, Jim Caviezel, Adam Goldberg en Paula Patton in de thriller Deja Vu. Washington en Kilmer spelen FBI agenten die een reisje terug in de tijd maken om een terroristenactie te voorkomen. Source: Variety
Robin Williams speelt de rol van Theodore Roosevelt in de Ben Stiller komedie Night at the Museum. Eerder deze week werd bekend gemaakt dat de veteranen Mickey Rooney, Dick Van Dyke en Bill Cobbs ook te zien zijn in bijrollen. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
