Fincher and Russell update:
Man, I'm on a roll this week, great updates again. As usual, I'm skipping friday and will be back this weekend with a new update!
Seven and Fight Club director Davind Fincher is attached to bring the graphic novel Torso to the big screen. The story revolves around the famous federal agent Eliot Ness and takes place after he closes the Al Capone case.
The Mask director Chuck Russell will helm a remake of the 1978 horror flick Piranha. Joe "Gremlins" Dante directed the original version about the man-eating little fishes.

Jerry Bruckheimer talks National Treasure 2:
Uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer talked about the sequel to the surprise hit National Treasure, which starred Nicolas Cage. "For National Treasure, we came up with a wonderful idea, a true incident in American history that's a wonderful jumping off point for National Treasure 2 and Nick Cage is excited about doing the movie. He likes the idea of what we're pursuing, so hopefully, we'll get that done towards the end of the year."
I really liked the first film, looking forward to see the sequel!

Brandon Routh talks Superman Returns!:
And of course, the weekly Superman Returns newsbit! Actor Brandon Routh talked about his Superman character and the Lois Lane love story:
"He's come back after being away for several years. He's lost. He's learned things about the world that have changed, he's not found what he went after, he just feels alone and he's not sure if he wants to use his power even. It's at that point that he really tries to connect with the world, with humanity, with his humanity. I mean, he's an alien, but he's human. Or he does his best to be. He lives here. He wants to be part of that world, I think.
I think the love story is very relatable to everyone. You lose love, you get it back. The journey you take to get the person you love back. Giving up things. Finding the positive in the negative. All these are human things and I trust that's evident in the film, in my portrayal. The one worry he has is this love of Lois, because it's something that he doesn't understand, and it's hard for him, because that's a very strong emotion, and it's the only person he's ever truly loved in that way."

Tyrese Gibson talks Luke Cage:
Actor Tyrese Gibson talked about the superhero flick Luke Cage! It's not certain that he will get the part, but Tyrese is already preparing for the role with a strict workout regimen. Luke Cage was the first black character to receive his own comic book series. Here's what Tyrese had to say:
"I'm probably going to be benching about 415 pounds once I get into that mode. They're just saying that 'Luke Cage was a real big and muscular guy, and we want to make sure that you appear to be that.' They have me in mind, along with a few other people. Do I have a better chance at getting it? Probably. The idea of Cage being the first-ever black comic-book hero was a lot, as far as a statement. Those are big shoes to fill, man, and I've got to do it and do it right."
John Singleton (Four Brothers) will probably be the director of the film and Marvel Chairman Avi Arad wants Luke Cage to be brutal enough to earn an R rating. "This will have an urban soundtrack, it will be great," added Arad, "The whole idea behind Luke Cage is that he's anything but a hero. He's a mercenary for hire and men like that find out it's a good business by accident. And then find out what's really inside him."

Hugh Jackman talks Wolverine 3.0!:
X-Men 3 is in full production right now with Brett Ratner on the director's chair. Hugh Jackman is back as Wolverine and the actor talked to Entertainment Weekly about the flick. Here's a clip!

What's different about Wolverine 3.0?
We tried to incorporate a little more of some of the artwork of the comics into Wolverine's fighting style. I was very adamant at the beginning in 1 and 2 -- I used to watch tapes of Mike Tyson -- and I was like, I don't want it to be pretty. I don't want it to be martial arts. I don't want him to be anything other than, like, a street fighter. He doesn't fight for the sake of fighting. If he can take someone's head off in the first punch, he'll take it off. We worked on some styles of incorporating some of the artwork in the comics, which is a little stylized, more to use what his strength is -- which is that he's small. Me, I'm actually a tall man, so that took a little training and I worked hard on that.
There's a lot of things we really tried to get in 1 and 2 which -- I don't mean to be blunt -- were just real expensive and we couldn't get them in until 1 and 2 were so successful. So there's some sequences there that the fans -- if you go to that midnight screening on the first night, they'll just be going ballistic. There's some specific choreography, famous fighting moves, that we use in this movie that we haven't been able to do before.

What's up with a possible Wolverine spin-off?
I'm into it. We're actually working on a script. X-Men is an ensemble movie, even if some characters are in it more than others. It's about the X-Men. I love playing the part. I think it's the best part going around. I may be biased, but I think there's so much still to be mined, still to be learned from that character. I think it will stand up to a feature-length movie. And we've had some really amazing interests from some great filmmakers and great writers also really intrigued by the character.
