Movie: The Matrix Revolutions
Director: The Wachowski Brothers
Actors: Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, Hugo Weaving, Jada Pinkett Smith
Matrix Revolutions is the last chapter of the already legendary trilogy. Reloaded was a huge disappointment
for a lot of viewers. All hope was invested in Revolutions. Unfortunately this movie still didn't live up to the
hype and the main issue was that some questions were left unanswered. I'll let you know what my vision of
the movie is, first the story.
The story in a nutshell:
Matrix Revolutions starts off where Reloaded ended and goes straight into the war of the humans against the
machines. Mankind's only hope is The Messiah also known as The One who discovers that his special powers goes
beyond the Matrix. Will Neo reach the Matrix's source in time before Zion will be destroyed by thousands of
Sentinals?
Revolutions is in many ways different than Reloaded, that's one of the reasons this film works and prevents a
repetition of the original and second movie. Revolutions is more realistic because the story takes place in
the real world most of the time. The attack of thousands of Sentinals is extremely impressive and very
frightening, absolutely one of the highlights of the movie. The visuals are chaotic, rough and violent,
just the way a war is. Some characters are getting more attention than before, like Niobi (Jada Pinkett Smith),
while familiar faces like Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) are getting less screen time, unfortunately. Trinity
(Carrie-Anne Moss) and Neo (Keanu Reeves) play key roles in the story with Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) as
the ultimate bad guy.
The pacing is also better than Reloaded, especially when the war starts and climax after climax will be
unleashed upon the viewer ending with a jaw-dropping Neo vs. Agent Smith super battle. The "bullet-time"
effects from the first movie was just tip of the iceberg, the bar is being raised sky high in Revolutions.
The Wachowski Brothers deliver alongside the mind blowing visual effects an intelligent story full of symbolism with
unexpected (for some confusing) twists. The movie isn't presented to you on a silver platter but challenges
to viewer to draw its own conclusions and to start discussions. I can't remember the last time this happened
after watching a movie. I think The Matrix Revolutions did answer all the questions and it's the perfect way
to conclude The Matrix Saga. An epic masterpiece about faith, ultimate sacrifice and a Messiah who must fulfil the Prophecy
created by the Wachowski Gods.
