The Matrix Reloaded, the most anticipated sequel to a groundbreaking movie that created a phenomenon called "Bullet Time". I'll let you know what I think of the sequel after a short spoiler free plot summary.
The story in a nutshell:
The explosive war against the machines is entering the final stage. Neo proves that he's the one, stronger than ever, faster than a speeding bullet and occasionally flies around The Matrix to help out the humans. Zion, the last city of the humans, is in danger, a quarter of a million Sentinals are approaching to destroy the last free humans. Morpheus, Trinity and the rest of his crew are fighting the Matrix from the inside, desperately trying to contact the Oracle for advise. Morpheus is a true believer of the Prophecy but there are others, like his commander Lock, who thinks the war must be fought with a different strategy. Will Neo save the human race or is he more connected to The Matrix than we'll ever know?
I must admit that I was very nervous when I entered the theatre on the opening day of The Matrix Reloaded. I've really waited for this sucker for a long time but I had a bad feeling the movie was going to let me down. The negative reviews popping up everywhere helped establish this negative vibe in my guts... The movie started, Don Davis' score filled the theatre, goose bumps covered my body and suddenly I knew everything was going to be all right.
Guys, forget all the stuff you've read and heard, the sequel is just amazing. Reloaded did live up to the hype and equals its predecessor and sometimes goes beyond. The story is cleverly written, it goes a lot deeper and unexpected plot twists will force you to stay alert the whole movie. I really liked the scope of this movie, it's more epic and we learn more about Zion and other humans who fight against the machines. What else does the movie offer? The breathtaking action sequences! The Wachowski Brothers were taking some big risks blending live action with computer graphics (like the Neo vs. Agent Smith fight) but it worked out fantastic. The computer graphics aren't always realistic but who gives a damn, it still looks cool and it gives the movie a great Anime look. The already legendary car chase scene is by far one of the greatest chases ever filmed with a climax that makes you go insane.
I’m not going to discuss every theory, details and hidden messages you just have to figure it out for yourself. Matrix Reloaded is one great ride that flows through your vanes like a drug and turns you into a junkie begging the Wachwoski dealers for a new shot...
