Honey? Where's my super suit?
It's raining superhero movies at the moment and with great success. Just take a look at our friendly webcrawler who earned billions of dollars worldwide. Pixar is also trying to get a piece of the pie with their superhero flick The Incredibles… or are they capable to add more to the genre? Well, one thing's for sure, their movie doesn't only show the heroic action of men with superhuman powers but Pixar also shed some light on the other side of being a superhero.
The story in a nutshell:
Superheroes are banned from society due to a horrible incident. They are being forced to hide and live as normal citizens. Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) is having a hard time adjusting to his boring new life but opportunity knocks, a secret organization requests the help of Mr. Incredible's superpowers. He decides to join but he doesn't tell his wife Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) and their kids about his new job.
Writer-director Brad Bird (The Iron Giant) put all the good stuff a superhero film must have in The Incredibles… and added some other interesting things too. Besides the jaw-dropping action and humor, we also get to see the emotional aspect of a (superhero)family life. Their emotions are so real that you sometimes forget that you're watching an animated feature. The perfectly cast Craig T Nelson, Holly Hunter, Samuel L. Jackson and Jason Lee did a great job voicing the characters. To keep a long review short, The Incredibles is simply 'incredible' thanks to the breathtaking animation, hilarious humor, exiting filmscore and spectacular action. Pixar has done it again and delivers an epic, entertaining flick.
