Movie: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Director: Mike Newell
Actors: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Alan Rickman, Brendan Gleeson, Ralph Fiennes

Incredible, within a year and a half, a new Harry Potter adventure will be unleashed in the movie theatres. The first two films were made by Chris Columbus, followed by the great Alfonso Cuarón and the fourth chapter, The Goblet of Fire, fell into Mike Newell's lap. Again, a surprising choice, Mike directed Four Weddings and a Funeral, Mona Lisa Smile and Donnie Brasco. I was looking forward to see him making a fantasy flick.

In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, our young wizard is being chosen to represent his School of Witchcraft during an international tournament. Things get more complicated when followers of the dangerous Lord Voldemort looking for a way to bring their master back to life.
I don't want to give too much away of the story cause it has some nice twists and turns and… honestly, I still don't get the Potter-mumbo-jumbo. The real fans know exactly what will happen but I haven't read the books and really had to focus with all these weird names and characters.
I couldn't connect with the first two Potter films but The Prisoner of Azkaban was a very nice surprise (click here to read this review). Mike Newell also succeeds to deliver a different kind of Potter.
The regular cast, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Emma Watson (Hermione) and Rupert Grint (Ron) have grown and they really made the character their own. We also get to see a wonderful Brendan Gleeson as Alastor 'MadEye' Moody and a chilling performance by Ralph Fiennes as Voldemort.
The Goblet of Fire's tone is different than the gothic-looking version of Cuarón. Newell made his movie grittier. The film offers many hilarious moments and also some very impressive action sequences like the Potter-dragon fight and the breathtaking underwater challenge.
I can't tell if Mike Newell's film is better than the book, but the director did deliver a very entertaining new Harry Potter adventure.
