Domino is based on the true story of Domino Harvey, daughter of actor Laurence Harvey and model Sophie Wynn. Domino doesn't like her rich and glamorous life and is looking for more danger and excitement. She decides to become a bounty hunter. Domino joins two other hunters, the tough Ed Mosbey and the crazy Choco.
Keira Knightley is excellent as the young and dangerous Domino. The fantastic Mickey Rourke once again rocks as the ultra-tough Ed, who functions as a father figure for the girl. Other cast members include Lucy Liu, Delroy Lindo and Christopher Walken. Believe it or not, Beverly Hills 90210 guys Ian Ziering and Brian Austin play themselves in cool supporting roles.
Tony Scott asked Donnie Darko's Richard Kelly to rewrite the script to avoid the cliches of a biopic. Kelly did a solid job by delivering the emotional events of Domino's life in a non-chronological order. The film jumps back and forth with flashbacks, which reveal more of the girl's troubled life as the movie progresses.
As usual, Tony Scott brings the film to another visually fascinating level. Every flashback has its own bright color and the shots are being edited with the speed of light… and that's the main problem of the film; uber-editing. The fast-paced editing is very present, 128 minutes long! I really had a hard time watching this, resulting in slight headache and burning eyes.
Tony Scott's Domino is an entertaining action thriller underneath the visual overdose, too bad the master got too carried away with that.
