The adventures of gigolo Deuce Bigalow, a.k.a the man-whore, relocates to Europe, Amsterdam to be exact. Deuce (Rob Schneider) and his Pimp T.J. (Eddie Griffin) are trying to find a serial killer whose targets are other male prostitutes.
I'm a huge fan of Adam Sandler and always looking forward to see Rob Schneider in supporting roles. Schneider's solo projects The Hot Chick, The Animal and the first Bigalow film, were entertaining and of course a must-see for the Sandler fans, who acted as executive producer.
The sequel to Deuce Bigalow is set in Amsterdam... and that's the biggest mistake of the film. Don't get me wrong, The sequel is loaded with the typical Schneider humor, which is not for everyone, but the problem is the performance and comedic timing of the mostly Dutch and European cast. They just don't have the experience of the American comedy actors. The movie also feels, dare I say, amateurish, which could be blamed on the inexperienced Dutch film crew, but I let the viewer be the judge.
Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo offers the cliché jokes about the Dutch prostitution and drugs policy, which I've heard before over and over again. What irritate me the most is, cause I'm Dutch myself, are the Dutch actors talking English with a German accent, that's just weird.
In bigger supporting roles, we get to see Hanna Verboom and fellow Dutchman Jeroen Krabbé who lately only wants to work if the film set is just around the corner of his house in Amsterdam. The good part is that that Dutch audience will spot a lot of Dutch celebrities and actors in nice cameos.
Schneider is trying hard to make the best of it but Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo doesn't reach the 'level' of his previous films. Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo would probably be a lot better when they'd made it in America with a better film crew and actors.
