Ron Howard regisseert The Parsifal Mosaic, een film gebaseerd op Robert Ludlum's spionage thriller. Het verhaal gaat over een CIA agent die denkt dat zijn lover/KGB agent geëxecuteerd is. Source: Variety

Joseph Kosinski directs Oblivion:
Tron Legacy director Joseph Kosinski maakt plannen voor de sci-fi flick Oblivion. Het verhaal vindt plaats in een post-apocalyptische wereld waarin de mensen boven de wolken leven en plunderaars kunstschatten stelen op de vervuilde aarde.
"I was looking to make a science fiction film that I could do on a budget," vertelde Kosinski, "It's grown since then, but it's intended to be a very spare science fiction film, with a small cast but big ideas and big landscapes."
Sounds interesting, maar ik wil eerst Tron Legacy zien!

Newsflash:
Bryce Dallas Howard vervangt Rachelle Lefevre voor de rol van Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Rachelle Lefevre, die de rol vertolkte in Twilight en binnenkort The Twilight Saga: New Moon, was helaas volgeboekt met andere filmprojecten en kon geen gaatje vinden voor de derde Twilight flick. David Slade (30 Days of Night) verzorgt de regie van The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Source: Summit Entertainment
Robert Schwentke (The Time Traveler's Wife) is benaderd voor de regie van Red. De thriller, waarin Bruce Willis en Morgan Freeman te zien zijn, volgt een voormalig black-ops agent die weer in dienst moet treden wanneer een assassin zijn vriendin bedreigd. Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Peter Jackson talks The Hobbit:
Sci-fi Wire had een uiterst interessant interview met Peter Jackson die vertelde over The Hobbit. Guillermo Del Toro is weliswaar de regisseur van de twee upcoming films, maar Jackson fungeert nog wel als producer en writer. Peter Jackson verklaart waarom hij niet wilde regisseren;
"So I didn't have to compete against myself. Because with the Lord of the Rings movies I did make, those were the very best films that I could make, given the circumstances and everything else. I poured my heart and soul into those films, and I just thought that I'd given everything I could to The Lord of the Rings, and now, with The Hobbit, I'd have to go there again, and now I'd be competing against myself. And how did I shoot Hobbiton the first time around? And how did I shoot Gandalf coming through the door? Now I'd have to look back at what I did the first time and do something different. Or not. And suddenly I could just imagine myself having this rather weird year or two where I was relating to my own work in a way in which I didn't feel comfortable. So I thought that the best thing-and honestly the best thing for the project and the fans of Tolkien and everything else-was to find another filmmaker who would do a really great job, and let them shoot Gandalf coming in the door, and let's all enjoy what they do with it and give somebody else a chance to do something fresh and original with it."

U.S. Box Office July 24-26:
G-Force versloeg Harry Potter en kwam met 32 miljoen dollars op de eerste plaats binnen! De andere nieuwkomer, Katherine Heigl's romantische komedie The Ugly Truth, presteerde ook prima met de derde plaats en $27 miljoen. Here's the rest of the Top Ten;

Oren Aviv talks Pirates of the Caribbean 4!:
Disney's Head of Production Oren Aviv sprak over een vierde Pirates of the Caribbean. Het vierde deel richt zich meer op de character development. I totally agree! Check it out;
"It's important to get the story right and it's important to me to scale it down, because we can't get bigger. The movies have subsequently gotten bigger and bigger and very complicated and they were satisfying on so many levels obviously, but I want to kind of reboot the whole thing and bring it down to its core, its essence, just characters."
