 John Malkovich speelt de rol van slechterik in de western Jonah Hex. Josh Brolin vertolkt de rol van gunslinger in de film dat gebaseerd is op de DC Comic, Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears a Who!) regisseert. Source: Variety
Christopher Nolan onthulde dat zijn volgend project niet een Batman film wordt maar een sci-fi action flick met de titel Inception. De film wordt omschreven als een 'contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind'. Alrighty, not to worry, deze in-between flick geeft de jongens meer tijd om met een goed verhaal voor de nieuwe Batman te komen! Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Tom Cruise is benaderd voor een rol tegenover Denzel Washington in de spy flick The Matarese Circle! De film is gebaseerd op de thriller van Robert Ludlum, de regie is in handen van David Cronenberg (A History of Violence en Eastern Promises). This is absolutely fantastic news! Source: Variety
De eerste teaser van Quentin Tarantino's WWII flick Inglourious Basterds is nu online! To be honest, ik heb mijn twijfels over de toon en stijl van de film but the dialogs are Tarantino alright! De cast van Inglourious Basterds bestaat uit Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, BJ Novak, Mike Myers en Michael Fassbender. Klik op de pic voor de trailer!

Guess who's in talks to direct Superman?!!!:
Volgens een bron van AICN sprak director James McTeigue (Ninja Assassin) over de Wachowski Brothers (zij zijn executive producers van zijn flicks). The Matrix directors zijn namelijk benaderd om de regie te verzorgen van Superman! Check out what the source had to say;
"He (James McTeigues) stated the Wachowski Brothers had been approached to re-boot the franchise as a trilogy and they are currently reviewing their options as its like being asked to take the final play in a superbowl final. Says if they do agree, he will likely either succumb to providing second unit support on the movie or will champion the directorship of Plastic Man - He started to giggle as he stated its like a young child for the Brothers and they wont give that up easily.
the very thought of the brothers making a superman movie is unbelievable as they have grown up in the world of comic books and they would be ideal for the project."
Ik wist dat een aantal high profile directors zijn benaderd om de Superman franchise te rebooten maar deze zag ik niet aankomen. Het zou uiterst interessant zijn om een Wachowski Man of Steel flick te zien, ik hoop alleen dat ze niet weer met een 'origin story' komen.

Newsflash:
Josh Brolin en Anthony Hopkins spelen de hoofdrollen in Woody Allen's volgende film. Hij schreef het script en de film wordt in London opgenomen. De titel en plot worden voorlopig geheim gehouden. Woody Allen's laatste films zijn fantastisch maar ik hoop dat hij binnenkort ook weer het vertrouwde New York als backdrop gebruikt.
Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider en David Spade zijn benaderd voor een untitled Adam Sandler comedy. Dennis Dugan (You Don't Mess With the Zohan) verzorgt de regie. De komedie vertelt het verhaal van vijf high school vrienden die elkaar na 30 jaar weer opzoeken tijdens de Fourth of July weekend. Great cast, you can do it!

Eva Green (Casino Royale) speelt de hoofdrol in de futuristische drama met de interessante titel Womb. In de film zien we een weduwe die besluit om haar overleden man te klonen. Source: Variety
Aaron 'Two-Face' Eckhart en Richard 'The Vistor' Jenkins zijn toegevoegd aan de cast van Rum Diary. Johnn Depp vertolkt de hoofdrol van Paul Kemp, een washed-up, hard-drinking journalist in jaren 50 Puerto Rico. De film is gebaseerd op het boek van Hunter S. Thompson, Bruce Robinson regisseert. McG talks Superman!:
Voordat Bryan Singer Superman Returns regisseerde, was director McG (Terminator Salvation) van plan om zijn Man of Steel te maken met een script geschreven door J.J. Abrams. Uiteindelijk kwam het project niet van de grond omdat de flick in Australië zou worden gefilmd... en McG heeft last van vliegangst! Het schijnt dat hij nu zijn fear of flying heeft overwonnen en sprak laatst weer over Superman, check this out;
"I talk to J.J. Abrams a lot about that. We went through a lot on that whole thing, I don't know. I talk to the DC guys, President Paul Levitz is here and I just saw Greg. Food for thought. I think it's a great character, I would want to make the character infinitely more dark and complicated, and get away from the big Blue Boy Scout a little bit and get into the alien among us. And how that could be lonely and interesting. It's not that I would make it depressing, I'd would just make it a little tougher... Which I suspect people would respond to. We have the glorious Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, which to me is an excellent example. I like the Schumacher pictures and everything Burton did but it needed to be reinvented to some degree and I think we're all better for it. We're all happy it went that way at least. I haven't thought about it clearly."
Interesting stuff, maar ik verwacht geen Superman flick op korte termijn.

De romantische komedie He's Just Not That Into You met een mega-sterren cast bestaande uit Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson, Kris Kristofferson en Justin Long, kwam op de eerste plaats binnen! Last week's # 1, Taken, viel terug naar een tweede positie, gevolgd door nieuwkomers Coraline en Steven Martin's tweede poging om een grappige Franse inspecteur te spelen in The Pink Panther 2. Jennifer Aniston en Jason Bateman vertolken de hoofdrol in de komedie The Baster. De film vertelt het verhaal van een neurotische man die ontdekt dat zijn beste vriendin (Aniston) via kunstmatige inseminatie zwanger probeert te raken, vervolgens vervangt hij het zaad van de donor met die van hem! Na Johnny Handsome gaan veteran director Walter Hill en Mickey Rourke weer samen werken aan de indie action-thriller St. Vincent. Rourke speelt de rol van hitman die een informant moet doden. Hij vermomt zich als een priester om zo dicht bij zijn target te kunnen komen. Walter Hill regisseerde eerder o.a. The Warriors, 48 Hrs en Last Man Standing. Looking forward to this one!
