Newsflash:
Hi guys, weer de laatste update van de week, but I'll be back with more news this weekend!;
 Warner Bros en uber-producer Joel Silver hebben John Stevenson, co-director van Kung Fu Panda, benaderd om Masters of the Universe te regisseren! John Woo probeerde eerder een nieuwe live-action He-Man flick te maken maar trok zich helaas weer terug.
It's official, Matthijs van Heijningen regisseert een prequel van John Carpenter's The Thing. Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ron Moore schrijft het script. Van Heijningen heeft veel commercials geregisseerd, en volgens mij is het een fellow-dutchman, if so, stuur me een mail, Matthijs, dan kan ik je het een en ander over de flick vragen!

Newsflash:
Michael Fassbender, Dominic West en Olga Kurylenko vertolken de hoofdrollen in Neil Marshall's sword and sandals thriller Centurion. Het verhaal draait om Quintus Dias en speelt zich af tijdens de Romeinse invasie in Engeland. Neil Marshall regisseerde eerder Dog Soldiers, The Descent en de geweldige Doomsday. Warners Bros. Pictures ontwikkelt een relaunch van de Tomb Raider franchise. Angelina Jolie wordt zeer waarschijnlijk vervangen door een andere actrice voor de rol van Lara Croft . Source: The Hollywood Reporter
The A-Team is back on track, deze keer waagt regisseur Joe Carnahan een poging samen met producer Ridley Scott. Carnahan (Narc, Smokin' Aces) is van plan om het concept van de serie als blauwdruk voor de actiefilm te gebruiken. Source: Variety
The Wrestler ster Mickey Rourke kruipt weer in de huid van zijn personage, deze keer niet on the big screen maar in de ring tijdens Wrestlemania 25. Zijn opponent is WWE superstar Chris Jericho! How fucking cool is that!!!... And a new update, this ain't going to happen. Man this sucks!

Jamie Bell is Tintin!:
Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, Jumper) speelt de rol van Tintin in Steven Spielberg's upcoming The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. Daniel Craig is ook gecast voor de rol van Red Rackham. Bell en Craig vergezellen Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones en Mackenzie Crook.
De Tintin serie, bij ons beter bekend als Kuifje, wordt geproduceerd door Steven Spielberg en Peter Jackson, die de regie van het tweede deel verzorgt. De film maakt gebruik van state-of-the-art performance capture techniek dat ontwikkeld is door Weta Digital.

Newsflash:
Brendan Fraser vertolkt weer de hoofdrol in een family comedy, deze keer speelt hij een real estate developer die in contact komt met een groep gevaarlijke beestjes. De film met de titel Furry Vengeance wordt geregisseerd door Roger Kumble (Cruel Intentions).
Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) regisseert Samson, een futuristische versie van het Samson en Delilah verhaal. Deze bijbelse body builder haalde zijn kracht uit zijn lange haren totdat Delilah hem verraadde.
Wayne Kramer (Running Scared, The Cooler) regisseert Fully Automatic, love the title. De flick wordt een buddy action film in de stijl van Lethal Weapon, and guess what, Joel Silver is ook de producer. De film vertelt het verhaal van twee rookie cops en een vrouwelijke Delta Force agent die een mercenary moeten opsporen.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop is voor de tweede week met $21 miljoen en een totale opbrengst van $64 miljoen de #1 flick in Amerika. Nieuwkomer Underworld: Rise of the Lycans kwam met $20 miljoen binnen op de tweede plaats. Here's the rest of the Top Ten;

Stephen Sommers talks G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra:
Director Stephen Sommers sprak over de stijl van zijn toys flick G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Check this out;
"I always loved the old Bonds. It's funny now how Bond wants to be Bourne. I loved Quantum of Solace, but it was like, man, this is a completely different movie to the Bonds I grew up with. In a very contemporary way, G.I. Joe is inspired by the memory of the kind of movies I saw when I was younger. I remember being in the theater for Thunderball and the big underwater battle at the end of that movie just blew my socks off. In G.I. Joe, there's an underwater battle under the polar icecap that's Thunderball times 10!"
Ik weet niet precies wat ik van deze film verwacht, maar het zal ongetwijfeld een spektakel worden. De cast van G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra bestaat uit Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Arnold Vosloo en Jonathan Pryce.

Len Wiseman talks Gears of War!:
Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman sprak met Bloody Disgusting over zijn verfilming van de videogame Gears Of War. He's got huge plans, check this out;
"I'm writing Gears Of War with Chris Morgan, who wrote Wanted. It's going to be much more on the science fiction side of it than the creature side of it. I've always been much more of a sci-fi action fan than a horror fan. The hope is that were wanting to do three movies and really cover the bases on everything. Basically a harder edged Lord Of The Rings."
