Movie: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra
Director: Stephen Sommers
Actors: Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Byung-hun Lee, Rachel Nichols, Ray Park

After the success of Transformers, it's now G.I. Joe's turn to deliver an action thriller inspired by the popular action figures. Director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) tells the story of an elite team of operatives known as G.I. Joe, who uses the latest spy technology, weapons and military vehicles to fight the arms dealer Destro and the mysterious organization Cobra. Dennis Quaid is General Hawk, leader of G.I. Joe, who recruits Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) to accomplish the dangerous mission. Unfortunately, Duke discovers that his ex, The Baroness (Sienna Miller), is a member of Cobra.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is trying hard to make the simple story a bit more interesting by bringing depth to the characters with quick flashbacks throughout the film. However, the motives of the toy characters are predictable, which results in the usual corny moments. But, obviously, most of the story revolves around action, and Stephen Sommers delivers a lot of it. The pace of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is faster than the speed of light, and the action is followed by an even more spectacular one. The Paris chase sequence is just insane, with the Joes wearing power suits that enable them to jump over cars and through buildings. The climax results a bit in an overkill though, 'cause it doesn't top the Paris sequence.
G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra feels like one big toy commercial, it has it's pretty bad moments with uninspired, over the top acting, but this movie is surprisingly also one of the highlights of the season, because it totally delivers on a fast-paced mind-blowing action level.

Great action!
