Newsflash:
Hi guys, een snelle newsflash in deze laatste update van de week. Meer nieuws volgt dit weekend!;
 Ridley Scott regisseert de noir drama The Kind One, met Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) in de hoofdrol. Het verhaal over Los Angeles gangsters speelt zich af in de jaren 30, waar een man verliefd wordt op het vriendinnetje van een mobster. Source: Variety
De titel van de nieuwe X-Files flick is The X-Files: I Want to Believe. "It's a natural title," vertelde director Chris Carter, "It's a story that involves the difficulties in mediating faith and science. 'I Want to Believe.' It really does suggest Mulder's struggle with his faith." Source: AP News

Shyamalan talks Avatar!:
Director M. Night Shyamalan sprak met Empire Online over zijn verfilming van de cartoon serie Avatar: The Last Airbender! Hij vertelde het volgende over het verhaal, de stijl en de visual effects;
"The actual plot is in a place where there are four tribes of people. And these people each have people within their tribe that have mastery over one element: water, earth, fire or air. They all live in a balance and harmony and once every generation there is born an individual who can bend - that is manipulate - all four of those elements and thereby keep a balance between all. They are kind of a Buddha figure to some extent.
Buddhist and Hindu philosophies run through the stuff. When I realised that is what it was, it really drew me as the template for putting storytelling on a new level. There is a kind of thread that connects Star Wars and The Matrix - the first one. That same thread is in this story, about a forgotten belief system, or the illusion of the world now.
Obviously [there will be] some breathtaking visual effects. Just imagine if you saw a little girl bending water out of a glass into the air as an extension of her own personal discipline."

The Incredible Hulk poster:
De poster van The Incredible Hulk is op internet verschenen, and it sure looks pretty. Doet mij een beetje denken aan de classic comics en op de een of andere manier ook aan Bill Bixby?!
De film is geen vervolg op Ang Lee's Hulk movie (dat in mijn ogen een masterpiece is), maar fungeert als een relaunch van de franchise. Louis Leterrier regisseert, de cast bestaat uit Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell en William Hurt.

Ghost in the Shell 3-D!!!:
Ghost in the Shell is een van mijn favoriete anime flicks, right after Akira, en DreamWorks Pictures heeft de rechten gekocht om er een 3-D live-action film van te maken!
Ex-Marvel Avi Arad, Ari Arad en Steven Paul produceren. "Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite stories," vertelde DreamWorks' co-owner Steven Spielberg, "It's a genre that has arrived, and we enthusiastically welcome it to DreamWorks."
Ghost in the Shell vertelt het verhaal van een special cyborg unit dat de high-tec crime te lijf gaat.

Chan and Tucker re-team!:
Chris Tucker en Jackie Chan bundelen hun komische krachten voor een nieuwe film en deze keer is het geen Rush Hour sequel!;
"It's like two days ago when Chris Tucker called me," vertelde Chan, "We sat down and decided we want to do another movie. Not a Rush Hour - something new. I said yes, and after I shook Tucker's hand, I said look, we need a middleman. I don't want to shake hands, then I go back to Hong Kong and you stay here, I get busy and you get busy. You have to have somebody in the middle to follow up, otherwise it will never happen. We've just agreed to do it. we're looking for the writer."
Cool! Ik ben een grote Jackie Chan fan, so I'm always lowering my standards, maakt niet uit hoe slecht de film is!

Speed Racer featurette!:
Een interessante Speed Racer featurette is nu online! De flick is de eerste family-friendly productie van de leather-fetish Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix). Acteurs, een aapje
en een producer praten over de productie, maar de directors zijn helaas nergens te bekennen! The footage looks amazing though, click for more!

De volgende trailer is echt prachtig, vooral de muziek past goed bij de beelden. De animatiefilm Batman: Gotham Knight vult het gat tussen Batman Begins en The Dark Knight. De film bevat zes korte animatiefilms, regisseert door verschillende regisseurs. Klik op de pic voor meer!

Guillermo del Toro on The Hobbit!!!:
Het is nog niet officieel, maar regisseur Guillermo del Toro gaf wel een update over The Hobbit op zijn blog! The wheels are in motion, and it's looking great, check it out;
"But there has been a lot of movement. And for the last few weeks there has been a lot of creative / cast / crew / visual talks and agreements and we have witnessed great progress in areas that I cannot disclose or that have already leaked from other sources.
I am dying to share news but I have to be patient and wait until the papers are done and my attachment is real. Nevertheless- a LOT of progress in defining the films, their cast and crew. And, may I add, we are all happily in synch about all creative aspects so far and all willing and eager to move forth."
Geweldig! De studio is van plan om het verhaal van de Hobbit in twee films te vertellen die back to back worden geschoten. Peter Jackson is gelukkig ook betrokken bij het project in de vorm van producer.

Newsflash!:
No more blood 'n guts for 300 director Zack Snyder. Zijn volgende film, na Watchmen, wordt de animatiefilm Guardians of Ga'Hoole dat gebaseerd is op de kinderboeken van Kathryn Lasky. Het verhaal speelt zich af in het bos van Tyto, waar het koninkrijk van de Uilen wordt bedreigd door een evil force, oehoe!
Shia LaBeouf speelt de hoofdrol in de techno thriller Dark Fields. Neil Burger (The Illusionist) regisseert de film dat gebaseerd is op Alan Glynn's novel. De film vertelt het verhaal van een jongeman die the ultimate smart pill vindt. Beetje vaag, maar da's alle informatie dat ik hierover kan vinden.

James Cameron in 3-D!:
James Cameron is druk met het filmen van de sci-fi epic Avatar. De film gebruikt een super-duper-new 3-D technology dat waarschijnlijk door buitenaardse wezens is gecreëerd. The uber-director, die de wereld veranderde (of is het vernietigde) met de Terminator flicks, is
ook van plan om drama flicks in 3-D te filmen. He sprak hierover met Variety, here's a clip;
"I plan to shoot a small dramatic film in 3-D, just to prove this point, after "Avatar." In "Avatar," there are a number of scenes that are straight dramatic scenes, no action, no effects. They play very well, and in fact seem to be enhanced by the stereo viewing experience. So I think this can work for the full length of a dramatic feature. However, filmmakers and studios will have to weigh the added cost of shooting in 3-D against the increased marketing value for that type of film."
Well, ik denk dat de nieuwe 3-D techniek voor een geweldige movie experience zorgt, drama films zullen hierdoor een extra dimensie krijgen. Klik op bovenstaande link voor meer!
