Newsflash:
Hi guys, zoals gewoonlijk sla ik de vrijdag over en ben dit weekend weer terug met meer filmnieuws, enjoy;
 David Fincher gaat de regie verzorgen van Black Hole, met een script geschreven door Roger Avary en Neil Gaiman! De film is gebaseerd op Charles Burns' graphic novel over tieners die geteisterd worden door een plaag dat door lichamelijk contact wordt verpreid. Pretty sick stuff, but you know me, looking forward to check it out! Source: Variety
Na een aantal mislukte pogingen gaat het nu eindelijk gebeuren, guys, niet een maar twee live-action Akira films gaan in productie! Ruairi Robinson maakt zijn regiedebuut, Leonardo DiCaprio is de producer! De sci-fi epic vindt plaats in New Manhattan, dus helaas geen beelden van Neo Tokyo zoals in de anime versie. Source: Variety

James Cameron on Avatar!!!:
James Cameron gaf AICN een update van zijn baanbrekende 3-D CGI/live-action flick Avatar!;
"There's a spirit on this film, an esprit de corps amongst the virtual team, that comes from knowing we're doing something absolutely groundbreaking. It's why people still have good morale after working on this thing for two years or more. And we still have more than a year and a half to go. I don't know if this will be a good film, great film, awful film, but I can say with absolute certainty that you will see stuff you've never imagined, and that the process of making this film will generate a lot of interest within the technical side of the biz. When I edit with some of our early stuff, "shot" using our virtual camera system over a year and half ago, it already looks laughably crude. Our process has evolved so much, just within the making of this one movie. Of course the final standard of photoreal animation will be consistent throughout the film, because it all gets rendered in a big frenzy next year."
Ik weet nog niet precies waar de film over gaat en wat we kunnen verwachten van Cameron's nieuwe filmtechniek maar ik ben blij dat de regisseur weer terug is met een sci-fi flick! Klik op bovenstaande link voor meer!

Will.i.am speelt naast Hugh Jackman als John Wraith in X-Men: Wolverine! De rest van de cast bestaat uit Liev Schreiber als Sabretooth, Danny Huston als William Stryker, Ryan Reynolds als Deadpool, Taylor Kitsch als Gambit en Lynn Collins als Silver Fox! Source: Variety
Regisseur Roland Emmerich's volgende film wordt de apocalyptic epic 2012. De film draait weer rond de vernietiging van de aarde, net als Emmerich's vorige films Independence Day en The Day After Tomorrow. Meer details zijn niet beschikbaar, op dit moment komen diverse studio's met een bod om het script te kopen. Source: Variety

Street Fighter casting update!:
Michael Clarke Duncan, Chris Klein en Rick Yune spelen naast Smallville's Kristin Kreuk in Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li! De film is gebaseerd op de legendarische videogame, de regie is in handen van Andrzej Bartkowiak (Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds).
Duncan speelt Balrog, Klein is Nash en Yune speelt de rol van Gen. Hong Kong fight choreographer Dion Lam (The Matrix) gaat de extreme fight sequences verzorgen.

Jason Statham talks Death Race:
Transporter's Jason Statham sprak over Death Race dat volgens Statham een eerbetoon is aan Roger Corman's cult classic uit 1975. De nieuwe versie wordt geregisseerd door AVP's Paul Anderson en vertelt het verhaal van een gevangene (Statham) die gedwongen wordt mee te doen aan een brutal, deadly car race.
"It's fantastic fun", vertelde Statham, "It's more of a homage to the Corman film. It's not really a direct remake. I suppose it's very different. There's a great story to it, and I think it'll do really well. Director Paul Anderson was a dream to work with, and I'm really excited about seeing it.
The cars in this are really killer. They've got ejector seats, and they spray out oil and napalm, and they've got rocket launchers. The story is it's a race to the death, and all the inmates in the prison build these cars."
Ik heb de campy originele versie gezien, liked it, en ben zeer benieuwd hoe de filmmakers de remake qua stijl gaan aanpakken.

Newsflash:
Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel, Justin Long en Seann William Scott verzorgen de stemmen in Planet 51. De 3-D animatiefilm van New Line Cinema gaat over de astronaut Chuck Baker die landt op Planet 51 en ontdekt dat het bewoond wordt door groene mensen.
Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger) regisseert de actiefilm 12 Rounds, waarin John Cena de klappen uitdeelt. The American Wrestling star speelt de rol van een New Orleans police detective die zijn gegijzelde vriendin moet bevrijden.
Yeah! John Landis is back on the director's chair for Ghoulishly Yours, William M. Gaines. De biopic is gebaseerd op het leven van de EC Comics en Mad magazine publisher. Landis regisseerde eerder de klassiekers An American Werewolf in London en Coming to America.
