Movie: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
Director: Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath
Actors: Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, Bernie Mac, Alec Baldwin

During an attempt to leave Madagascar and fly back to New York, the home base of the lion Alex, zebra Marty, giraffe Melman and hippo Gloria, the airplane flown by those nasty penguin-pilots crashes in Africa. And of course, things happen for a reason, especially in animated features, 'cause Alex accidentally meets his mom and pop. His other pals also fall in love with the country (and other creatures) so they all decide to stay in Africa for a while.

Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith are back to voice the main characters. Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat) is also back as the exuberant lemur Julian, who's, in my opinion, the real star and takes full advantage of the extra screen time the little creature gets. New characters are voiced by Bernie Mac as Alex's dad Zuba, which is unfortunately one of his last performances. Alec Baldwin is the lion Makunga, who isn't really happy with the sudden return of the prodigal son. Madagascar 2 includes also another villain, which is also one of the scariest villains of the year; Nana! Yep, the grandma with the fists of fury is back!
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa expands the story to multiple, individual storylines, which offers a path to our four main characters' self-discovery and in the end, accept the creature they really are. This multiple storyline structure is a smart move, 'cause now, they've got more grounds to explore, and obviously, that also means more goofiness. The animation is top notch and perhaps even better than the predecessor because of the story's African backdrop.
So to sum it up, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa is a great follow-up and a pretty fun ride for the young and old ones.
(Note: those sinister penguins forced me to write this very positive review)

Great sequel, fun ride!
