Enter The Hobbit!!!:
Peter Jackson and New Line kissed and made up! The Hobbit is coming! MGM en New Line delen de kosten en verzorgen de distributie van twee films, The Hobbit en een sequel. Peter Jackson en Fran Walsh spelen de rol van Executive Producers maar de kans bestaat dat Jackson ook gaat regisseren. Here's what Peter Jackson had to say;
"I'm very pleased that we've been able to put our differences behind us, so that we may begin a new chapter with our old friends at New Line. 'The Lord of the Rings' is a legacy we proudly share with Bob and Michael, and together, we share that legacy with millions of loyal fans all over the world. We are delighted to continue our journey through Middle Earth."
De twee films worden tegelijkertijd opgenomen, pre-production begint zo spoedig mogelijk en principal photography start in 2009! Great news, guys!

Chow Yun-Fat in Dragonball:
Chow Yun-Fat vergezelt de productie van de live-action Dragonball film. Hij speelt naast Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Emmy Rossum en Jamie Chung. Chow speelt de rol van Master Roshi.
James Wong verzorgt de regie en Kung Fu Hustle's Stephen Chow produceert.

 Interessante casting tidbit, Ewan McGregor speelt Jim Carrey's love interest in I Love You Phillip Morris! De film vertelt het verhaal van een getrouwde man die in de gevangenis belandt en verliefd wordt op zijn cellmate Phillip Morris. Source: Variety

Kevin Munroe talks Gatchaman!:
Kevin Munroe, regisseur van TMNT, sprak met IESB over zijn volgende project, een CG versie van Gatchaman (a.k.a. Battle of the Planets oftewel De Strijd der Planeten)! Hij vertelde het volgende over de stijl en verhaal;
"It's not cartoon-ey and it's not photo-real. It's really pushing the western style of animation, something very cool and different.
It's an origin story. We're going through, we're adding mythology. Fans of the tv show will remember that they never talked about how the Gatchaman started, how the war between the Gatchaman and Galactor started...What was the first invasion like...So this is, we're actually the prequel to the TV show in a sense, and the idea that the mythology of the Gatchaman is not just restricted to technology, there is a mystical aspect as well."

Roberto Orci talks Star Trek:
Roberto Orci, co-writer van J.J. Abram's highly anticipated Star Trek movie, onthult interessante details over het project. Zo speelt Leonard Nimoy, Spock uit de originele serie, een belangrijke rol in de nieuwe film. Here's a clip;
"There were many, many elements of the story that we had talked about just theoretically if ever Star Trek were to come back. There was lots of stuff we wanted to do, and that was a blessing. Normally you don't have that much investment and research for a project you get hired to do. If you are a fan of classic Star Trek, there is a lot of unexplored history. With the original series, there was so much that could have come before it. It felt like it has been The Next Generation and The Next, Next Generation for so long, it seemed like a fresh thing to go back to the source and to go back to what happened before it.
The truth is that we took a gigantic gamble in terms of the movie we wanted to do, and it was essential that we had Nimoy.
So the goal with this movie is twofold. One is to make sure that the fans--who have been the stewards of the continuity and who are some of the most savvy and intelligent fans of any franchise ever--that they be satisfied with anything that has the name Star Trek on it. But, more importantly, the goal is really to introduce casual fans and people who don't know Star Trek at all to this universe and to connect it to today. ... The goal of Star Trek ... is that if you don't like sci-fi or know Star Trek, this will bring you into the world."
De schrijvers proberen overigens een gaatje voor William Shatner te vinden die zich gepasseerd voelde toen ze hem niet hadden gevraagd voor een cameo.

The Dark Knight trailer:
De trailer van The Dark Knight is op het web verschenen and it looks incredible! In deze sequel zien we Christian Bale als The Batman en Heath Ledger als The Joker. De rest van de cast bestaat uit Aaron Eckhart, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine en Morgen Freeman.

Morgan Freeman talks Rama:
Morgen Freeman sprak met Sci-fi Wire over de verfilming van Arthur C. Clarke's boek Rendezvous With Rama. Freeman gaat de film produceren en neemt ook een van de rollen voor zijn rekening. Rama vertelt het verhaal van een groep wetenschappers die een alien spaceship ontdekken. Freeman vertelde het volgende;
"That is going to happen. We're looking for that to start in the next year. The story itself is the idea that we can be visited from outer space. We have been in close contact with Arthur C. Clarke. As a matter of fact, I went to Sri Lanka just to have a sit-down with him. I'm very excited about this. When the people at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory learned that we had this project we got calls from them. 'Any help you need, any help at all.'
So we've been trying to develop a script. It's a very large project. You have got to develop the script, and you have got to design spaceships. And because Arthur C. Clarke wrote it, and because it's so much real science involved, we can't take too many liberties."

Peter Jackson werkt weer samen met Andy Serkis in Tintin, bij ons beter bekend als Kuifje! De 3-D CG film is deel van een trilogie dat geproduceerd wordt door Jackson en Steven Spielberg. The directors verzorgen ieder de regie van een film. Serkis vertolkt waarschijnlijk de rol van Capt. Haddock. Source: Variety

Abrams produceert, Matt Reeves regisseert en de cast bestaat uit Michael Stahl-David, Mike Vogel, Odette Yustman, Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Lucas en T.J. Miller. De film heeft een enorme internet buzz gekregen en brengt het bekende verhaal van een monster in New York op een zeer realistische manier.
