Newsflash:
Hi guys, the last update of the week, but I'll be back with more news this weekend!
After Brett Ratner, Gerard Butler also decided to exit the Escape From New York remake. Butler was set to play Snake Plissken, the role that was portrayed by Kurt Russell in John Carpenter's original. Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) is now onboard to rewrite, with an option to direct. Guys, just leave the remake alone or get Kurt Russell to reprise his role!
The first shots of Wanted appeared online earlier this week, now the trailer arrives and it looks freakin' cool! Click here for the action-packed trailer!
That's a wrap! Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull finished principal photography and you can check out the set diary right here!
Julia Roberts and Clive Owen will re-team after their amazing performance in Closer. The new drama is entitled Duplicity and will be directed by Tony Gilroy. The actors play longtime lovers who happened to work as spies on opposite sides.
Believe it or not, the wolves are back on the dance floor! The Holy Road is the sequel to Kevin Costner's Dances With Wolves. Michael Blake, writer of the original movie and novels, wrote the script for the sequel. Simon Wincer (Into the West) will direct the film, which will probably be sans Costner. The Holy Road picks up eleven years after Wolves.

Akira is back!!!:
According to Bloody Disgusting, Oscar nominated Irish director Ruairi Robinson is attached to direct a live-action version of Akira! The film is based on the groundbreaking 1988 anime flick that introduced me (and the rest of the world) to the wonders of Asian animation. Akira has been in development for a long time, once with Blade's Steven Norrington at the helm. I still believe Akira is one of the best animated features in history and I'm curious how they will transform this into live-action.

Green Lantern and The Flash find director!:
With George Miller's Justice League going into full production, plans are already being made for direct spin-off flicks. Director David Dobkin, who delivered comedy flicks like Wedding Crashers and the upcoming Fred Clause, has signed on to helm The Flash. TV producer Greg Berlanti will take on the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern. Interesting stuff but it'll be hard to beat the Marvel Superhero Universe. It all depends on the success of the Justice League movie.

Newsflash:
John Travolta is joining Denzel Washington in The Taking of Pelham 123! Tony Scott will direct the remake, which originally starred Robert Shaw and Walter Matthau. Travolta will play the leader of a gang that hijacks a New York subway train, Washington plays the chief detective of security. David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, War of the Worlds) wrote the script. Source: Variety
The werewolves and vampires heading for another round in Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans. This time, director Len Wiseman takes on a producing position, creature designer Patrick Tatopoulos will direct with Michael Sheen. Bill Nighy and Rhona Mitra will star in the sequel... that appears to be a prequel... I can't keep up anymore. Source: Variety
Nice trailer hit the web for the thriller Awake starring Hayden Christensen, Jessica Alba, Lena Olin and Terrence Howard. Interesting story line, always love to see Leno Olin (remember Romeo is Bleeding?) and the trailer's climax is incredible. Anyway, click here for the trailer!
What do you get when you cross an Alien with a Predator? A fucked up movie! So let's hope the sequel Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem will be a lot better than Paul W.S. Anderson's version. The first pics, which look pretty awesome, are online. Click for more Predaliens.
