Roland Emmerich talks Fantastic Voyage:
Independence Day director, Roland Emmerich, revealed to Empire Online how long it took before he agreed to direct Fantastic Voyage. The film is a remake of the cult classic, which revolves around a bunch of scientists in a tiny submarine that is injected into a human body. Here's what Emmerich had to say;
"I was attached to this project 15 years ago with [former producing partner] Dean Devlin and then we gave it back because we wanted to do some other original projects we had developed. Then James Cameron came in and worked on the project. Two years ago Jim called me up and said 'Roland I want you to look at the script for Fantastic Voyage - it's not there yet'. And he sent it over and I hated the script. I said why have you put this in the future? I said let this happen now. It's so much more cool and fun when we can say to a normal person from now, 'well we're going to make you microscopic and put you in some submarine which we will shrink down and you have to do this stuff inside a body.'
There were two submarines in the body. It was like a Navy SEALS film. And then the president of production at Fox - me and my partner and him all go surfing together - says 'Well, will you do it with a page one rewrite and we won't start until you're happy with the script?' So then I said yes. The key is I won't do it unless it's going to be a good movie."
I really liked the original version because of its silliness but it fitted the period it was made. I'm pretty curious what Emmerich will do with the whole shrinking concept. I'll keep ya posted!

Quick newsflash with some interesting casting developments, guys, check this out;
Jessica Biel is in talks to play Wonder Woman in Justice League of America!!! The film revolves around a team of superheroes that includes Superman, Batman, the Flash, Aquaman and Wonder Woman. New actors will be cast for Superman and Batman. What makes this flick pretty interesting is that George Miller will direct! Miller previously directed Happy Feet and of course the Mad Max flicks! Dominic West (300) and Wayne Knight, better known as Seinfeld's Newman, join Punisher: War Zone! Ray Stevenson replaces Thomas Jane as the cold-blooded hero, Dominic West is the villain Jigsaw and Lexi Alexander (Hooligans) will direct. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
This sounds like fun, Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac will play two former backup soul singers in Soul Men. The singers are sort of forced to get together again for a reunion tour. I'm curious if Jackson and Mac can carry a tune. Source: Variety

George Lucas talks Star Wars TV:
George Lucas talked to TV Guide about several Star Wars television projects! Here's what he had to say about The Clone Wars;
"There's Clone Wars, and we're in the middle of that. It's basically like Star Wars in that it takes place between, obviously, Episode II and Episode III, but it's the same kind of action. Unfortunately, it doesn't fall into the realm of what animation typically is, which is either adult, kind of off-color humor or kids stuff. This is, like Star Wars, sort of in between those two things. It's a lot of battle stuff, and it's obviously the Clone Wars, so it's a war picture. ... It's very much like the features. We're still trying to figure out how to put it on the air. So far, everybody's got the same conundrums. 'How do we program it? Where does it live? Where can we put something like this?' You know, it has to go after 9 o'clock and it can't be on a kids channel."
Lucas is also working on a live-action series that will take place between Episode III and Episode IV. Check this out;
"It's like Episode IV in that the Emperor and Darth Vader are heard about-people talk about them-but you never see them because it doesn't take place where they actually are. There are stormtroopers and all that, but there are no Jedis. It's different, but I think it's very exciting because I get to explore a part of that universe that I haven't been able to explore."
