Newsflash:
Hi guys, here's the last update of the week, but don't worry, I'll be back with a new one this weekend!;
Jason Isaacs and Melissa George join John Cusack in the action thriller Stopping Power. The story centers on a man who tries to rescue his kidnapped daughter. The film will be helmed by Speed director (and fellow Dutchman) Jan de Bont, Hope this flick will mark his comeback!
Another beautiful lady, known as Eva Mendes, joins the cast of Frank Miller's comic adaptation Will Eisner's The Spirit. Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Gabriel Macht already have been cast for the flick.
Justin Timberlake will star opposite Mike Myers in the comedy The Love Guru. Myers plays an American who was raised by gurus in India. It's been a while since Myers stood in front of the camera, and I'm glad he's back!
Ah, there she is again, the lovely Carla Gugino is one of the female leads in the Robert De Niro and Al Pacino vehicle Righteous Kill. The veteran actors play New York cops chasing a serial killer, Jon Avnet directs.
Ice Cube will star in the sports drama Comeback. The film is based on a true story, Cube will play a former high school football star who trains his niece. She than becomes the first female quarterback in football history. Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst will direct! Rock on, dude!

Logan's up and running again!:
The remake of Logan's Run has finally found a director; Joseph Kosinski! After directing award winning commercials (Halo 3 and Gears of War), Kosinski will make his directorial debut with the sci-fi flick, which is set in a future society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a certain age. The 1976 original, starring Michael York, was based on the novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson. A bunch of interesting directors, including Bryan Singer, were attached to the project but all backed out, Joel Silver will remain as producer. The new film is expected to be a low-tech science fiction story that will be closer to the book than the movie.

The Punisher speaks!:
Thomas Jane is out and Ray Stevenson is in as the new Frank Castle in the upcoming The Punisher: Welcome Back Frank. The actor talked to Superhero Hype about the role;
"Although I am still very much in the embrionic stages of developing and discovering FRANK CASTLE's character; what I can say about my approach so far is that I don't wish for anyone to walk out of the theatre wanting to 'be' FRANK CASTLE - Let me explain, I would be mortified if, for any reason, some kid at high school wanted to reach out and right the wrongs of bullying or rejection or isolation by deciding to "tool up" and take out the bad guys! It is my full intention to have FRANK in such a dark place and do such violence on those beyond redemption that you should feel glad that there is someone who lives in the dark so we may live in the light.
My training program is the most comprehensive I have ever undertaken and hopefully we will bring all his skills to bear - and then some!"
Interesting stuff, Hooligans' Lexi Alexander will direct.
