ARCHIVES WEEK 18 2007

Trailers!!!:
Still a bit pissed about the studio's decision to cut up Live Free or Die Hard to give it a PG-13 rating instead of the blood 'n' guts R-Rated one... JUST LIKE THE PREVIOUS FILMS WERE!!! But... errr.. I've got some fun trailers to end my week!
First, click here to see Chan and Tucker back in action again for Brett Ratner's Rush Hour 3. I think it's pretty hilarious to see Roman Polanski in one of the supporting roles!
The second preview is the international trailer for Evan Almighty, right here. Lots of yelling and screaming, but who cares, Steve Carell rocks! I'll be back with a new update this weekend!

Newsflash:
Warner Bros has bought the rights to adapt Frank Miller's graphic novel Ronin, which revolves around a samurai warrior. Director Sylvain White (Stomp the Yard) will combine live action and CG environments, just like they did for 300, which was also based on Miller's novel. Source: Variety
John Cusack is set to star in Jan de Bont's action thriller Stopping Power. Cusack will play a test pilot who sets off on a series of high-speed chases to save his kidnapped daughter. De Bont, the former DOP of Paul Verhoeven, previously delivered the kick-ass action vehicle Speed. I really hope he can reach the same level with Stopping Power. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
EW got a sneak peek at Iron Man's suit! The suit is designed by special effects meister Stan Winston, who also did the designs for Predator and Terminator. Click on the pic for more on the article.

Jon Peters talks Superman Returns sequel:
Producer Jon Peters talked to The Hollywood Reporter and gives an update on the Superman Returns sequel! Check this out;
"Right now, Bryan Singer is working on the story, and hopefully, that will be a script by the end of the year. And hopefully, we'll be in preproduction by, say, January or February of next year. "Superman Returns" was an amazing effort. You're talking about a story that's been made before; you're talking about the fact that we had to re-explore his youth, his origin. And now, the second movie allows us to go do things that people haven't seen before. Bryan is the best director I've ever worked with. It's very easy to produce or be with someone who's a brilliant, brilliant person."

Maverick 2?:
This is interesting, seems that Mel Gibson and James Garner are keen to get together for a sequel to their western comedy Maverick. Gibson even goes on record;
"There's talk of doing another Maverick. Garner and I have been looking at that for a while. It'd be fun to play that character again. I think audiences would probably like to see him again too. We really cooked the first time. We've got some great ideas--I think audiences will enjoy what we've got in mind. It won't be happening immediately, but I dare say, it'll happen."
But what about another Mad Max and a Lethal Weapon flick?; "We've put Mad Max and Lethal Weapon behind us now. There's nowhere to move with those characters. We were pushing it with the last ones."
That's too bad, but a Maverick sequel sounds like fun as long as Dick Donner is back to direct, right guys?

Ratatouille clip:
A cool clip for the animated feature Ratatouille is now online over at Disney's website. The Incredibles' Brad Bird directs and the characters are voiced by
Patton Oswalt, Ian Holm, Lou Romano, Brian Dennehy and Peter O'Toole. I love The Incredibles and The Iron Giant, can't wait to see Ratatouille. Click on the pic to check out the preview.

Newsflash:
Nicole Kidman will star in a remake of How to Marry a Millionaire. The original comedy was released back in 1953 and starred Marilyn Monroe. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Blade Trinity's David Goyer will direct the X-Men spin-off Magneto. I'm not sure if Ian McKellen will also play the leading role, probably not 'cause the film revolves around the early years of the metal-bending hero. I'll keep you posted. Source: Variety
The first official production photo of Iron Man dropped online. Robert Downey Jr. looks pretty cool, here's what director Jon Favreau had to say about the star; "We didn't want to just go with a safe choice. The best and worst moments of Robert's life have been in the public eye. He had to find an inner balance to overcome obstacles that went far beyond his career. That's Tony Stark. Robert brings a depth that goes beyond a comic-book character who is having trouble in high school, or can't get the girl. Plus, he's simply one of the best actors around."

Rick McCallum talks Star Wars TV series:
Producer Rick McCallum talked to Toschestation about the status of the Star Wars television series;
"I can't tell you anything about actors because we're not there yet. This is a long process to get it right. First of all: where are we going to shoot? Then: who's going to write? And finally: who's going to direct? George has been working for the last seven, eight months on the story arc line of where the series goes. The dream is to do way over one hundred hours of it. If we can get it right, we have some fantastic characters that nobody has ever met before and start a whole other world of Star Wars that comes out every week instead of every three years."
Well, the TV series sounds like fun and a perfect way to keep the Star Wars fans busy for a while. The show will hit the tube sometime in 2008 or maybe 2009... in a galaxy, far, far away.
