ARCHIVES WEEK 16 2007

19/04/07
Newsflash:
Hi guys, the last update of the week, but I'll be back with more news this weekend, enjoy!:
Lost star Matthew Fox will play Racer X in the live-action version of Speed Racer. The rest of the cast includes Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman. Larry and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix trilogy) will direct the family-friendly adventure. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Director Ron Howard and producer Brian Grazer are developing a remake of the 1970 sci-fi flick Colossus: The Forbin Project. The film was a forerunner of Terminator and tells the story of a computer that gets a mind of its own and, well, you'll get the picture. Source: Variety
Dark Horizons received an official statement about the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer rumors that recently hit the web. Websites mentioned that Laurence Fishburne is voicing Galactus, who would appear in the film as a lame looking giant storm cloud. Fox set things straight; "Laurence Fishburne is officially the voice of the Silver Surfer and not the voice of Galactus, as some other fan sites have stated. There was never a Seattle test screening, period. Finally, moviegoers will have to wait to see Galactus in the movie, but fans definitely won't be disappointed." There you go!

Frank Darabont talks Indy IV... again!:
I've posted this a while ago, but The Green Mile director, Frank Darabont, once again talks about his rejected Indiana Jones IV script!
"It showed me how badly things can go. I spent a year of very determined effort on something I was very excited about, working very closely with Steven Spielberg and coming up with a result that I and he felt was terrific. He wanted to direct it as his next movie, and then suddenly the whole thing goes down in flames because George Lucas doesn't like the script.
I told him he was crazy. I said, "You have a fantastic script. I think you're insane, George." You can say things like that to George, and he doesn't even blink. He's one of the most stubborn men I know.
...It was a tremendous disappointment and a waste of a year."
George, what were you thinking?!!! I'm getting pretty curious about Darabont's Indiana Jones script, but I guess it will never see the light day. Might be a cool idea for the next sequel; Indiana Jones and the Lost Darabont Script!

Sam Raimi talks The Hobbit!!!:
Sam Raimi is seriously considering directing The Hobbit, according to EW. The director's name has been popping up ever since the public battle between Lord of the Ring's Peter Jackson and New Line's Bob Shaye.
Finally, Raimi is going on the record;
"Peter Jackson might be the best filmmaker on the planet right now. But, um, I don't know what's going to happen next for me right now. First and foremost, those are Peter Jackson and Bob Shaye's films. If Peter didn't want to do it, and Bob wanted me to do it-and they were both ok with me picking up the reigns-that would be great. I love the book. It's maybe a more kid-friendly story than the others."
To be honest, no one but Peter Jackson has the right to direct The Hobbit... but if there's one man who could pull it off, it's 'Samwise' Raimi! If he does, then Spidey is in trouble, 'cause who will direct the fourth Spider-Man film? Peter Jackson? Kirsten Dunst isn't happy about Raimi not directing Spider-Man 4:
"It's disrespectful to the whole team, I think, to do that. And audiences aren't stupid. It'd be a big flop without me, Tobey, or Sam. That would really not be the smartest move. But they know that already. Sony chief Amy Pascal would never do that."
I'll keep you posted, guys.

Norton is Banner!!!:
What the f..., I haven't seen this one coming, Edward "Fight Club" Norton has been cast to play Bruce Banner in the upcoming The Incredible Hulk!
Norton replaces Eric Bana who played the green monster in Ang Lee's Hulk masterpiece (I still don't understand why this movie received mixed reviews). Ang Lee delivered an intense psychological thriller, the second film, directed by Transporter's Louis Leterrier, will be more action-packed, which means brainless fun, I guess.
Here's what Marvel Studios's Kevin Feige said; "Edward Norton is a rare talent and one of the most versatile actors in the business. His ability to transform into a particular role makes him the ideal choice to take on the character of Bruce Banner and the Hulk. Edward is perfectly suited to bring one of the most popular and important Marvel icons to the bigscreen in a new and exciting way."
Bringing Norton on board is a smart move, but I'm not sure if Leterrier can deliver as well.

Shia LaBeouf joins Indy:
Two official announcements today, guys, check this out; Transformers star Shia LaBeouf will play with Indy's whip in the upcoming Indiana Jones IV!
"We are excited about bringing Shia into our Indy family," Spielberg said, "His talent has impressed not only his audiences throughout his young career but the directors, producers and fellow actors who have worked with him in his television career and now his film career."
"I was hoping the rumors were true, so I couldn't be more thrilled," added Shia, "To be cast in an 'Indiana Jones' film is like grabbing the brass ring and holding on for the ride. I'll do my best to meet the high standards that Steven, George, and Harrison have set and I can't wait to take that giant step in front of the Indy cameras."
