Newsflash:
Hi guys, de laatste update van de week... maar ik ben dit weekend weer terug met de volgende!
 DreamWorks gaat eindelijk een serie films produceren van The Adventures of Tintin, bij ons beter bekend als Kuifje!.
Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) vergezelt Alvin, Simon en Theodore in de Alvin and the Chipmunks flick! De film wordt een combinatie van CGI en live action. Ik hoop echt dat Lee het zingen van de liedjes overlaat aan de knaagdiertjes. Source: Variety
Transformers' Shia LaBeouf (die ook fantastisch was in Holes), is druk aan het onderhandelen om de zoon van Dr. Jones te spelen in Indy IV! Spielberg en George Lucas houden hun behaarde lippen stijf dicht over de storyline (geschreven door David Koepp). Het filmen begint in juni en de release is rond mei 2008... phewfff... dat duurt nog effe. Source: Variety

It's Happening!:
20th Century Fox gaat in zee met M. Night Shyamalan's nieuwe thriller The Happening, ook bekend onder de working title The Green Effect. De film is geschreven en wordt geregisseerd door Shyamalan en vertelt het verhaal van een familie die op de vlucht slaat voor een naderende natuurramp dat ook nog eens grote gevolgen heeft voor het bestaan van de mens.

Mamma Mia?!!!:
What the f..., James Bond himself zingt ABBA liedjes in de musical Mamma Mia! Nope, het is niet Daniel Craig maar Pierce Brosnan die zijn microfoon deelt met Meryl Streep. Here's what he had to say; "I said yes right away because it meant working with Meryl Streep. Secondly, I saw the show with my family in London, and found it just so wonderfully happy and joyful, and so pitched in time forever in the 1970s. What a kick in the pants, to be able to go off and spend time with Meryl on some Greek island, singing ABBA songs."
Phyllida Lloyd, die de Mamma Mia's stage version in London en Broadway regisseerde, buigt zich ook over de bioscoopfilm.

Bonaventura talks Beverly Hills Cop IV:
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura sprak met Latino Review over de vierde Bevery Hills Cop vehicle, waarin de fast-talking Axel Foley, gespeeld door Eddie Murphy, weer te zien is;
"We're developing a couple of takes right now. We're hoping to make that thing pretty quickly. Eddie Murphy would like to make it his third movie from now. He's already lined up two. He's always been interested in doing it again. That's one of the things that we've been trying to figure out. A guy who is really cocky at age twenty five or whatever, I can't remember, but it's different playing that when you're forty something and try to play cocky. You have to figure out how Axel would evolve over twenty years. So it's an interesting challenge."
Bonaventura vermeldde verder dat Rosewood, gespeeld door Judge Reinhold, waarschijnlijk voor het vierde deel niet terugkeert. Verder ook geen woord over Taggert (John Ashton), een van mijn favoriete personages uit de serie, but I'll keep you posted!

Joel Silver talks Speed Racer:
Gisteren gaf The Matrix producer Joel Silver een update van Wonder Woman, vandaag sprak de action-meister over Speed Racer! De film is gebaseerd op de populaire anime TV series uit de jaren 60. De regie is in handen van niemand minder dan de leather-fetish boys, a.k.a. the Wachowski brothers!
Here's the fun part, Speed Racers wordt tevens de eerste familiefilm van de broertjes. Silver geeft commentaar;
"This is a family picture. But it's going to look like something you've never seen before in your life. I mean, they really want to make a movie for everybody, and they felt that now is the time that they could really do that. They can concentrate on making a film, you know? They have nieces and nephews that couldn't have seen any of their movies, and so they wanted to make one they could see. And they've always loved Speed Racer, and there's a chance to do something really incredible."

This just came in, ik heb helaas ook sad news, Tobey Maguire sprak met The Courier Mail en gaf aan dat Spider-man 3 tevens zijn laatste spidey-film wordt; "To me it seems like this is a natural point for the team to break up because we have a lot of story conclusions that were going along for the main characters for the first two movies and we kind of tie almost everything up for the third movie. It feels like a trilogy to me and it feels like the end."

U.S. Box Office March 02-04:
De komedie Wild Hogs, met Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, John Travolta en William H. Macy als biker-wannabees, kwam met 38 miljoen dollars keihard binnen op de eerste plaats van de Amerikaanse Box Office!!!
David Fincher's thriller Zodiac moest het helaas met een tweede plaats doen. Here's the rest of the Top Ten:

Joel Silver talks Wonder Woman!:
Producer Joel Silver sprak over de vertraagde Wonder Woman film; "We're not there yet. I mean, look, ... for a while these Marvel Comics movies have been kicking the DC Comics movies' ass. You know? I mean all these characters that just keep coming out. And, look, they revived Batman. They're making a new Batman now. It should be great. They're making a new Superman, and they're going to do Justice League, all the characters, which I think is a cool idea. And we're going to get Wonder Woman to work."
Writer-director Joss Whedon was in de eerste instantie de regisseur van de film maar verliet enkele weken geleden het project. Een nieuw script is inmiddels geschreven door nieuwkomers Matthew Jennison en Brent Strickland. Het verhaal speelt zich af tijdens WWII, maar Silver legt uit dat het nieuwe script geen basis vormt voor de film;
"We didn't buy it for that. There were some good ideas in it, but it was out there, and we wanted to just kind of not have it not floating around. We wanted just to acquire it and keep it. We'll make it work. You know, it's going to work. We just couldn't figure it out, but we'll get there."
Het duurt dus nog even voordat we de mooie Wonder Woman in actie zullen zien, I'll keep you posted!

Jon Favreau talks Iron Man!:
Veel superheldennieuws vandaag, regisseur Jon Favreau heeft een update van Iron Man geplaatst op zijn official site! Here's a clip;
"First off, the sets are all being built, the locations are locked and the cast is, for the most part, set. As you all know, RDJ (editor's note, that's Robert Downey Jr.), Gwyneth, T Howard, and Jeff Bridges are all on board. We've had a week of rehearsals and I'm currently working with the writers to tailor the material accordingly. Mr. Bridges has a haircut that will no doubt be of interest to any of you fans of the books.
Stan Winston Studios has been unveiling suits for us. Once again, they have exceeded our expectations. Those of you who follow my career know that I am very skeptical about the overuse of CGI. I am happy to report that the film will be a healthy mix of both computer generated and practical effects. My goal is to make the two integrate in a way that they usually do not.
I've never been involved with a film this size. I've been prepping for almost a year and feel extremely confident in the enormously qualified team we've assembled. I would be lying, however, if I didn't admit that the scale of this project was daunting. I'm pretty confident that I've done and will continue to do my homework and that I'm ready, but so much is unknown. I feel like a ship's captain about to sail for the New World. Who can truly predict weather fortune or disaster awaits in the great unknown? Regardless, I thank God every day for his blessings."
