ARCHIVES WEEK 05 2007

Newsflash:
Hi guys, here's the last newsflash of the week, I will be back with a new update this weekend!;
More news about a sequel to The Departed appeared online. Writer William Monahan is working on a take that would bring back the tough cop played by Mark Wahlberg, and also introduce a new character to be played by Robert De Niro. The original Hong Kong version had two sequels/prequels, which weren't that good, by the way. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Casino Royale and Goldeneye director Martin Campbell revealed that he would not likely be directing the next Bond film. That's too bad, now lets hope Tarantino will direct the new one, that would be awesome! Source: AFP
Jennifer Garner will star in another remake of the romantic comedy Christmas in Connecticut. The film is based on the 1945 holiday classic. I recall that Arnold Schwarzenegger also directed a remake of Christmas in Connecticut back in 1992. Source: Variety
Richard Gere and Diane Lane will reteam in Nights in Rodanthe. Gere will play a traveling doctor who meets a woman who's trying to decide whether to stay in her unhappy marriage. I think we all know what will happen next. Source: Variety

Newsflash:
Eva Mendes joins Samuel L. Jackson and Ed Harris in Cleaner, which will be directed by Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger). Jackson will play a former cop who makes his living cleaning up crime scenes. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Tommy Lee Jones will star in an adaptation of James Lee Burke's novel In the Electric Mist with Confederate Dead. Jones will portray Cajun detective Dave Robicheaux who's trying to catch a serial killer. Source: Production Weekly
Brendan Fraser is interested in reprising his role as Rick O'Connell in The Mummy 3. "I would like to very much," Brendan said, "It's down to decisions made in offices somewhere in Los Angeles. I'm waiting for a script. Keep your fingers crossed." Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar are writing the script that will center on the Fraser and Rachel Weisz characters and their now grown-up son. Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious) is in talks to direct the film. Source: Sci-fi Wire

James Bond update:
James Bond screenwriters Robert Wade and Neal Purvis talked about the follow up to Casino Royale. The writers confirmed that the new Bond will NOT be based on Ian Fleming's short story Risico, cause this storyline already has been used for 1981's For Your Eyes Only.
Here's what they said about the direction of the new film and the schedule of the production;
"With the way Casino Royale ends, you know there's still unfinished business for Bond. He may say, 'The name's Bond, James Bond,' but there's still a lot of stuff churning up inside him. So, if you're going to explore that, and we've got this great actor to do that with, what you don't want to do is suddenly clamp it down with all these familiar elements that keep your focus off him. He's the great asset.
The idea is for the movie to start shooting at the beginning of next year. It would be nice to have the draft next week. The sooner the better (laughs). It's not an easy thing to do, because the bar was raised with the last picture, so we have to raise our game again."
