Newsflash:
Hi guys, hieronder de laatste update van de week, volgende update is dit weekend;
 Regisseur J.J. Abrams (Lost) bevestigt dat het script van Star Trek XI is afgerond! Hij vertelt het volgende over het project; "On the one hand, for people who love Star Trek, the fix that they will get will be really satisfying. For people who've never seen it or know it vaguely, I think they will enjoy it equally, because the movie does not require you to know anything about Star Trek. I would actually prefer that people don't know the series, because I feel like they will come to it with an open mind." Ik ben geen hele grote Star Trek fan, maar ben wel blij voor de Trekkies die kunnen uitkijken naar een nieuwe film. Captain Kirk back in action! Source: Entertainment Weekly
Regisseur Phyllida Lloyd gaat de Broadway musical Mamma Mia! verfilmen! The one and only Meryl Streep zal een van de hoofdrollen vertolken. Phyllida Lloyd was ook verantwoordelijk voor de originele "Mamma" in London en de Broadway versie. De film wordt in London en Griekenland opgenomen. Source: Variety

The Hobbit; The Battle Continues!:
Well, het wordt hoog tijd voor de andere kant van het verhaal. Zoals jullie weten is er een grote strijd gaande tussen New Line en Peter Jackson. De regisseur eist veel geld van de studio die bakken heeft verdiend aan de Lord of the Rings trilogie. New Line is van plan om a.s.a.p. The Hobbit te verfilmen... met een andere regisseur. Jackson heeft meerdere malen via de media naar de studio uitgehaald, nu geeft New Line's head Robert Shaye eindelijk commentaar en als het aan hem ligt, mag Jackson nooit meer een film in de schuur van New Line maken. "There's a kind of arrogance. Not that I don't think Peter is a good filmmaker and that he hasn't contributed significantly to filmography and made three very good movies. And I don't even expect him to say 'thank you' for having me make it happen and having New Line make it happen. But to think that I, as a functionary in a company that has been around for a long time, but is now owned by a very big conglomerate, would care one bit about trying to cheat the guy, ... he's either had very poor counsel or is completely misinformed and myopic to think that I care whether I give him anything.
He got a quarter of a billion dollars paid to him so far, justifiably, according to contract, completely right, and this guy, who already has received a quarter of a billion dollars, turns around without wanting to have a discussion with us and sues us and refuses to discuss it unless we just give in to his plan. I don't want to work with that guy anymore. Why would I? So the answer is he will never make any movie with New Line Cinema again while I'm still working for the company."
Wow! Dat betekent nog niet dat The Hobbit zonder Peter Jackson wordt gemaakt, de distributierechten van de film is in handen van een andere filmmaatschappij, namelijk MGM. Die heeft dus ook een dikke vinger in de pap. This could become an ugly battle, it already is... I'll keep you posted.

James Cameron's Avatar!:
It's official, James Cameron's nieuwe film wordt de sc-fi epic Avatar! De visual effects worden gedaan door Weta Digital (Lord of the Rings trilogie), de opnames beginnen in april met een release in de zomer van 2009.
Hieronder een samenvatting van het persbericht;
Utilizing a blend of live-action photography and new virtual photorealistic production techniques invented by Cameron's team, Avatar will offer audiences a unique cinematic experience. Avatar will be filmed in 3D for release in the new digital 3D format. For Avatar, Cameron will use revolutionary image-based performance capture techniques, and a real-time virtual camera system, to create new CG worlds and blend them with dramatic performances and live action in ways never before possible.
It is the story of a wounded ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.
"For me, as a lifelong fan of science fiction and action, 'Avatar' is a dream project," vertelde Cameron, "We're creating an entire world, a complete ecosystem of phantasmagorical plants and creatures, and a native people with a rich culture and language. The story is both epic and emotional. The two things that make this film even possible are pioneering advances in CG effects and performance capture, as well as my 22 year relationship with Fox, since only with great trust can you operate so close to the cutting edge. I plan to honor that relationship by bringing them a winner. And I have the team to do it, the best team of artists and technicians I've ever been privileged to work with. This one's going to be a grand adventure."

Newsflash:
Vlak na het bericht van James Cameron's Avatar project, vermeldt M. Night Shyamalan en Paramount dat zij ook een Avatar project gaan opstarten. Nog een Avatar film? Inderdaad, maar hun film is gebaseerd op Nickelodeon's populaire animatieserie. Shyamalan's film wordt een live-action versie. Source: Variety
Samuel L. Jackson en Christina Ricci vertolken de hoofdrollen in de bizarre film Black Snake Moan. De film is geregisseerd door Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) en de disturbing trailer is hier online!

U.S. Box Office Jan 05-07:
Ben Stiller's Night at the Museum is nog steeds de 'number #1 movie at the American Box Office'. De baanbrekende sci-fi film Children of Men draait nu ook in Amerika en wist de derde positie te bemachtigen. Here's the rest of the Top Ten:

Kiefer Sutherland talks 24 movie!:
Acteur Kiefer Sutherland sprak kort over de 24 speelfilm. Het verhaal van de bioscoopversie vindt ook plaats
in één dag maar de 24 uurtjes worden deze keer in twee filmuren geperst;
"It's something that we really, really want to make. The real key difference would be that the 24 hour film would be a 2-hour representation of a 24 hour day. It would be the first thing that we didn't do in real time. Mainly, you have to understand, we're making two episodes every three weeks. We would have three months to make a two hour [movie]. Just to have that kind of time to really allow our cinematographer and our director and the writers to focus on such a finite thing, and actually be able to do a film that really has a conclusion, I think would be really exciting not only for us to make but I think for an audience as well."
Afgelopen weekend was het laatste deel (met een geweldige cliffhanger) van het vijfde seizoen op TV te zien, ik kijk uit naar Agent Bauer on the big screen.

Een interessante behind the scenes clip van AVP2 is hier online. De nieuwe Aliens versus Predator (...versus Paul W.S. Anderson's afschuwelijke flick) wordt geregisseerd door Greg en Colin Strause. Het vervolg wordt in ieder geval weer R Rated en niet een milde 12 jaar en ouder net als het vorige deel.
Ik zag de TV serie voor het eerst tijdens mijn vakantie in Miami and totally loved it. Reno 911 heeft nu ook een bioscoopfilm, check out de hilarische trailer hier!

Exclusive Seraphim Falls poster!:
Mijn eerste Xclusive van het jaar; de bijzondere poster van de western Seraphim Falls! De film is geregisseerd door David Von Ancken (CSI: NY), de cast bestaat uit Liam Neeson, Pierce Brosnan, Anjelica Huston, Michael Wincott, Ed Lauter, Robert Baker en John Robinson. Here's the official synopsis:
"Seraphim Falls is a taut psychological action film, an epic chase and primal battle set in the breathtaking landscape of the West. The civil war has ended but Colonel Morsman Carver (Liam Neeson) is on one final mission: to kill Gideon (Pierce Brosnan) no matter what it takes.
