After 18 seasons, 400 episodes, it's finally time for a feature-length Simpsons motion picture! Creator Matt Groening and producer James L. Brooks worked for many years with a giant team of the best writers to pen the script for the film, and the result is very rewarding. In the film, the citizens of Springfield suffer from a big disaster. The government disconnects the city from the outside world, using a giant dome. Who's responsible for the disaster? Well, the evidence leads to the one and only Homer Simpson!
The creators of The Simpsons Movie did the right thing for the film. They didn't reinvent the wheel but kept the characters, tone and style exactly the same. It's like watching a long TV episode... on a larger scale. The hilarious story is fast-paced and even has moments in which Homer finally expresses his true feelings towards Marge. And that's what makes the show (and film) successful, well written stories about an unique American family who hasn't aged a bit after more than 18 years.
It's also 'refreshing' to see a good ol' fashioned hand-drawn, 2-D animated feature again. The Simpsons Movie is a very, very entertaining family flick, a must-see for the fans and a fun night out for the few who aren't familiar with the show.
